The Larz Anderson House is absolutely one of my favorite "homes" in DC.
Not only is this Beaux-Arts time capsule filled with exquisite collections, it's also the HQ of the American Revolution Institute and Society of the Cincinnati, so there are rotating museum exhibits, book talks, and programs to enjoy.
Larz and his wife Isabel built this home in 1905 and entertained during the Washington social season (from New Year to Easter -- that's it!?!) for some 30 years. But when Larz died with no heir, Isabel gifted it -- and pretty much everything in it -- to the Society of the Cincinnati because he was a devoted member.
