Here's How I Did A Solo Road Trip to Acadia... & Camped in My Car!
Are you a female who loves solo travel? A National Park adventurer? Someone who loves the sunrise? Too lazy to pitch a tent? Well, *I* am all of those things and more! So when I had the chance to take a solo road trip to Acadia National Park in Maine, I packed up a rented SUV and hit the highway with every intention of camping... in the car!
Now, it took me 12 hours to drive there from DC, which I did not document, but once I arrived, I hit most (if not all) of the major highlights, including:
-Thunder Hole
-Sand Beach
-Otter Point
-Jordan Pond
-Cadillac Mountain... and that stunning sunrise!

And made sure to snag my Cadillac Mountain Summit Road pass so I could see that iconic experience during my short visit: www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/400000/ticket/4001
You should know that camping in your vehicle is prohibited in Bar Harbor, ME or surrounding Acadia National Park outside of the designated campgrounds. If you do have a campsite, sleeping in the car was actually quite comfortable thanks to my Luno Vehicle Air Mattress: lunolife.com/products/air-vehicle-mattress

A personal note: You might have noticed that I was a bit under the weather during my trip, but it didn't stop me from hiking, exploring, and forest bathing (distanced in healing Mother Nature)!

Got Bees?! #BumpassHouse Does!

As if this house didn't have seven plagues already, now I've got carpenter bees. A swarm of them is eating up the deck. Yes, I know they sting less than other types of bees (but they CAN still sting) and I know there are ways to kill them, but I'm trying to be humane and encourage them to just MOVE ALONG. So... orange blossom essential oil. Think it'll work?

Yes, I made one of the ugliest parts of Bumpass House uglier... on purpose! I need to get rid of the moisture that is causing mold in what I believe is the newest addition of the Bumpass House. Getting the "Bumpass House" Foundation Inspected - Sort Of

The first appointment I scheduled after buying Bumpass House was to a structural engineering company to check the foundation. The crawl space is tiiiny and I was so glad he was going into that spidery mess and not me, but he suited up to take a look like it was NOTHIN'! And then he told me he couldn't tell anything. We'd have to take up the floors! And that would only be somewhere between $50-1...

Help I was born in the same say as him and my grandmas name is Edith-
I absolutely love Judy Bloom! She got me interested in reading when I just entered middle school, now called jr. High… I read her book ‘Are You there God? It’s me Margaret!’ and that sparked my reading journey! I don’t know what it will take for our new youths but this book changed my life and thoughts!… sad to hear she stopped writing 🤷🏽♀️❤️

yep - and it will. But I heard that if you cut it back for several years and don't allow it to go through photosynthesis, it will eventually stop. Fingers crossed!

Oh you'll have a great time! Summers are HOT though! The resort is kid-friendly, though I'll admit I didn't see very many while I was there. I noticed kid's activities, games, and pool inflatables... Hope you have a fun vacation!
