- I recently got the chance to try out The Glarry GST3 electric guitar. One of the most affordable guitars Ive ever seen! Does it suck? Is it junk? Can you actually get a good tone and playability from a guitar that costs less than a tank of gas? Lets find out!!
Here is the product link, mark with Glarry GST3 Electric Guitar:

There's something about this dude that I like. Seems like a guy who has a good time no matter what's going on. My kinda dude. Cheers.
Welcome back! Great video please keeping them coming.
Thanks
What a pleasant surprise in my notifications, I always enjoy your videos tremendously, I'm a bushradical subscriber also but I am always looking forward to seeing a video on this channel, thank you!
Right on!! Thanks
I recently ordered this Guitar from ebay, $69.50 Free Shipping! due to arrive tomorrow, I have a Glarry Tel! Love it!
I’ve got my glarry tele just yesterday, haven’t unbox yet. Hope it gives me what I want.
I've always preferred single coil pickups. My all-time favorite being the original Danelectro lipstick tube pickups. I think the most surprising thing with this $68 guitar is the chord that comes with it. Remarkably noise free for a cheap chord. Though how long till it gets noisy remains to be seen.
Those old lip sticks are great!
@@whipscheapguitars2856 where can i buy it..tq
@@tmt7912 eBay or off their website
I don't know how they can make them so cheap. The perfect blues guitar. Good to see you back with this channel. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
You need to do more videos man!!!
Dang, I spent about that much last night at the gas station on fuel, a frozen pizza, a bag of Fritos, and a can of Skoal.
Strat attack for $64 bucks!!! Not bad!!! Love your channel Whip!!! Keep those cool videos rolling!!!😎👍🎸
Thanks
Awesome review! That’s a cool little guitar. It’s a great starter guitar for little hands. Hope all’s well Whip! We miss ya buddy!
A guitar that is cheap and playable sounds like something Kurt Cobain would play since he gets guitar pedals, guitars, amps, etc from cheap stores.
Just found your channel and I dig it. I am going to recommend you do a best guitar tuner shoot out😂. I buy and mod stuff CONSTANTLY. I have expensive guitars and once had way more, but only have like 5 or 6 American made guitars now when I used to buy USA made exclusively. The bandit vid brought me. I have sort of started collecting the American predators and reactors(tele). Your bandit video was very informative and I appreciate it. Looking to find one. Preferably either an early/mid 80s or peaveys latest model. Yours sounds great. That full, responsive clean sound is why I want it (chickn' pickn')
Dave, shouldn't the intonation determine the saddle positions and not where you like them?
Great to see a new video!
The saddles were too high....I lowered them ( with the small wrench). To adjust the intonation you need a screwderiver
@@whipscheapguitars2856 I knew I had a slice of ambiguity somewhere along the line
Hello, Dave. I have watched a few of your guitar reviews, mainly on Glarry instruments. I appreciate your honesty, respect your knowledge and I am very impressed with your musical talent. Just wanted to tell you thank you. Thanks, Rick
Thanks Rick
Whip, I think I speak for many of us when I say: Please do a review on that Amp you used in this video!
The pro junior!
Oh yeah, we know the model.... but you do an awesome job of showing what things can do!
Maybe Blues Jr....just a maybe
Good to see you back, Whip. This year, I’ve found that a very popular brand of cheap guitar is Harley Benton. They seem to very popular these days with us budget conscious (read: poor 😊) musicians.
Ive heard great things about those
Missed you man... Keep posting
Where are you man want more vids
Love what you're doin man
So glad to see you back Whip, you do the best reviews on UA-cam,
Thanks!!
Doesn’t have to be a name brand to sound good sounds awesome
Thanks
How does the neck carve compare to Fender MIA vs Squier? Did the Glarry builders shave off wood from the shoulders or is it chunky like a Tele? I had to stop messing with Squiers because all the Indonesian built ones are too skinny. Same width and depth , at least withing 0.5mm, but the carve from the fretboard front edge back and don't leave the fretboard edges flat carving from the glue line back -- changes the circumference a lot. Here's something for you: put the Armstrong Blender circuit on there, wiring only change where the second tone knob blends between SSS and HSH.
Nice review, Whip. Glad to see you back. I'm playing a Hedean Strat "influenced" guitar right now from Rondo that I'm still on the fence about even after a pro setup. Fresh strings have helped, but still might flip it for something else down the road. A Glarry, maybe?
Let me know
Great stuff as usual. Hope you put out more cheap guitar content soon!! Thanks.
I'll try
dave...i know you're a busy man. i'm just saying...should you ever decide to go regular with this series, you'd surpass most youtubers in the genre pretty quickly. always look forward to your videos. take care.
Thanks
Hey, you're back! Glad to see you. I think the pickups sound a bit brittle but not hideous or anything. I hear the necks on those Glary's are '50s style. That may be a bit thick of a neck if you're just a kid getting one of these.
Yeah, the necks all seem a bit thick......but I love a thick neck myself.
I absolutely hate the pickguard but other than that it's a nice guitar
I get the impression a good set up, some tweaking like playing around with pup height, and willingness to actually use the tone control goes a long way with a cheap guitar.
Whip I'd like to see you do a video review of Glarrys burning fire guitar
I got the same with red tribal graphic.Replaced pickups with a loaded hum hum, single pickguard, replaced cheap nut, strings tighten all screws, now it's one of my favorites. All in 100 bucks, rock on,oh ,and I love the light weight
Right on
My glarry p bass is excellent out of the box.
Baseball bat neck.
I have 40 + years playing bass. Love the axe !
I've redone some ebay specials for 50.00....very similiar.
Need a better tuners (maybe..sometimes acceptable), jack, bone nut, some of the pickups are 3k...need 'em, switches, fret job....glue them in and level (which can be a problem with the medium frets they use....not much meat to work with.)
i like cheap gear also and love this channel!
Thanks
Come back man! Would love to see more videos from you!
Building cabins on youtube now I think
Thank you for this wonderful review. I'm very interested in getting one now.
How thick is the body of the Glarry? I know that some lower priced guitars are around 1.5". I'm used to the Fender standard 1.75".
IDK????
1 5/8"
I got one and the thing can't be properly tuned. I tried everything from neck release to moving the saddles back and forth to no good end. I will try the nut job next but I don't have my hopes high though.
I'm gonna get me one . I just started shopping . Originally , I saw the GST as a base model and the GST ll as a heavier model ( weight ) with a bone nut . What makes the GST 3 any different , stronger pick ups ? Sunburst finish ? Please help .
👍good keep on making these videos !!!!
what happened man!?... hope you're ok!!😬
I was lucky enough to pick one up while they still had the Fender style headstock right before they phased them out.
Whip.... I have to ask. When you said you "adjusted the bridge saddles to where you like it." You did mean that you set the intonation. And not that you just eyeballed it, right? Can you do some guitar kit builds and reviews?
THE NUT HAD TO COME WAY DOWN!!! When i got it dialed in I re set the saddles.....the intonations was good ...I just messed with the height
I bought one of there strats and i really like it , only had one fret that was to high , i bought 3 of there teles , i really like the guitars you can"t beat them for the price.
I agree
Dave's other channel is Bushradical. Maybe there's another one??? The same personable Dave, just doing a lot of outdoors and bushcraft activities.
I’m watching season 4 of Alone and to my surprise who shows up on the show but Whipple. Awesome
LOL, yup that was me. What a life eh.
A lot of people throw shade at these guitars because they don't have the functional brain cells to lean how to set-up a guitar. Considering how cheap this guitar is, I would imagine it would need some work. Heck, these days, the high priced Gibsons, Fenders, and PRS guitars need work on them when they arrive! I like you nut file/saw. Where did you get it? How much was it? I was thinking of making my own with skill saw blades or hacksaw blades (with small teeth, of course).
Its an Exacto saw and its about.010" so its good for the high E but not much else....I have a small round file for the big strings and a set of Feeler gauges for the other plain strings. You just pick the feeler gauge thats the same thickness and "burr" up the edge of the gauge on a grinder.....presto! Nut files.
Excellent ideas! I will look for that stuff in December. :-) Thank you!
This is also a great starting point for an upgrade build, no need to spend a fortune on parts, in the past, I have been able to upgrade a guitar from the leftover parts from previous upgrades, I never throw anything away
Doing the same. I'm first upgrading the tuners to locking. 2 months in and a tuner broke. Yep, they're very cheap. Lol.
is it worth buying i really want one
Mine looks really nice, miner finish faws.I did need to replace plastic nut,new strings, file 6 high frets .I'm still trying to figure why tone pots don't work
I bought a Glarry and thought hmm bet this is one nobody heard of.. and wow lots of people reviewed it.. lol Just wondering where did you get the tool for the nut slots.. I think that's the problem on mine..the strings set up too high
i use two tools....a small round file with flat sides ( homemade) and a set of feeler gauges
Radstorm I have 2 Glarry Strats. They both needed alot of work. I bought a tusq nut for both and they hold tuning good now. Both guitars I had to replace the same bad tuning key on both. Think the G tuner. 1 guitar I had to level and crown all the frets. Both turned out to be great daily players.
Anyone know what the neck radius is on these? Cheap doesn't bother me, cheap tuners, hardware, etc...all ok... but those damn 14" radius flat fretboards on inexpensive guitars are a dealbreaker for me. Duh, if you are copying a strat.... how about a 9.5 radius board?
I would call the frets medium jumbo, the neck profile a "D" if not almost a "u" . The nut is 42mm, and the radius looks like about a 10"
Really? It’s that round? A 9.5 or 10 would be fantastic. I just assumed it was probably a 14” like SX, Harley Benton, and other lower end makers.
What’s the name of your band?
Great video as usual. Love your honesty Dave. They don't HAVE to cost $3000.00 to be a viable instrument. The guitarist plays the guitar, not the other way around, right?
RIGHT!
What do you do with all these cheap guitars after you review them?
Lol
Welcome back.
Great review.
Not a bad piece of gear, eh?
Not bad
Dave are still making new videos ? You should have a million subscribers.. hope you’re still making new stuff. I love your channel .
I havent made a video in a while
We need more videos
I just got one and have found the same issues . Great beater though after setup
right on
Bunch of these low priced guitars out there these days. I don't know how they do it either and I don't care as long as the price point gets some younger players into music. Good to see the music channel back alive again. Keep 'em coming, plenty more out there. Lol, 👍
Thanks!
What do you think about epiphone les paul jr pro-1
Don't know that guitar...
Dude! Just found out you were on the TV show Alone. 😃
Can you recommend a childs guitar that actually sounds good and they can learn to play on?
kevin tulak
Look at Harley Benton short scale guitars.
Any inexpensive child's guitar is going to need work. I'd look at a Squier mini. They are better than they used to be.
Review request. Epi thunderbird bass. I know you've got one but I would like it if you did a review on it
I sold mine! Sorry. There are several versions out there and at least ONE version with a narrow nut.....That would be my preference because mine didn't "neck dive".
Come back!!
Looks like these can be hit or miss on the quality.. other reviewers have said these are basically a waste of money
Good Leads And Rhythm Rocks Yeah.
Thanks
great review
Thanks
Anyone else pondering selling their "nice guitar" to get like 5 or 6 of these things? 😆 i am. What amp were you plugged into?
A fender pro junior
Where can i contact you business related
Dave where you been? I missed you dude! Please help me! I have the semi-hollow and it sounds like crap!
I asked Glarry to send me some tuners and they set me bass ones! The bridge pickup is horrible! The only way it sounds good is too play fuzz!!!!!!

Have you checked out the kramer Barretta special
No I haven't...
whip's cheap guitars might be up your alley I picked one up new for 150 pretty solid guitars for the money
Can you do a review on a squier bullet mustang
maybe
With decent skill even as a beginner these cheap guitars can be very well playable.
Totally right
go price the cheapest basswood strat body you can find. its more than this whole guitar probably. you get an entirely functional guitar. all the reviews of it tho point to the nut being a problem for tuning stability and play-ability. i actually like the pickups too. they have character...something that pricier guitars sometimes don't have. 5 mins with the right saw or file and this is a good beater and great mod platform.
Right on. The nut material seems OK.....but the cut is pretty bad form the factory
Imma play mine on stage!
Nice!
Thanks
Ha these just got blown out for 17.99 on Ebay.
Free shipping too.
20 dollar Bass Guitars too.
WOW!!!!
Don't you have the off-grid channel too? Haven't seen it in a while.
bought one. tossed it in the trash where it belongs. only out $64. my first guitar was back in 1964 (6)years old. a Dan electro sears Silverstone with a 5 watt amp built in the case. i lost count of how many guitars i have owned and lost count of how many garbage guitars I've bought out of a whim for the last 56 years. THIS WAS ONE OF THEM.
Whip! Where the hell ya been?? Check out what Trogly said about this.
Ive been busy...LOL. What did Trogly say?
@@whipscheapguitars2856 ua-cam.com/video/WM5P7XDDT0o/v-deo.html
...covering Neil young... nice touch!
I have spent a lotta money on Strats over the years - this Glarry sounds like the equal of any of them.
Its built different and feels different than a Strat, but its got a great sound and costs the same as high end guitar cord.
It’s a no. Great to hang on a wall. You can get a Squier for what it costs pay for a to set up. But from the right shop and they will set up for life.
I would say the thing thats better on the Glarry than a Squire is the neck. Cheap Squires have week necks that can't handle a stiffer string.
Make some more videos dude.
Thanks for the video. Because of you I have 6 peavey predators. And 2 peavey reactor. 😂😂😂😂 keep the videos up . 👍👍✌
LOL....thats awesome
Oh, so you're the one buying them all up . Lol.
Dont you have a bushcraft channel
the vid is not about the guitar... it's about him playing to show off.
Its a demo of what the guitar sounds like......
this company is bothering me with all the videos and I hear they are a real pain when they send it bothering you to hurry up and make that video!
do you do reviews?
Its junk
Its cheap and plays great....what do you want>???
A good guitar player can make a $64 guitar sound like a $6400 instrument. A bad guitar player can easily make a $6400 sound like a $6.40 cheap plastic toy.
Right!
