Today I flew my Karma drone close to my house and I lost both gps and the compass. I run towards the dron and brought it back despite that he wanted to attempt landing on the spot which was in a ravine. Was the proximity to my house and a mountain the culprit of making me loose gps and compass?
Wow, I have never taken mine but a few hundred feet away. I have to get braver and at least give it a try. I would never have guessed you could take Karma that far away and not completely loose control of it.
Quick question and I don’t want the bias from dji fan boys, is the karma reliable enough for professional work. Low to mid budget weddings and real estate. Would love to find a decent drone for filming that I can actually afford and make money with. But I don’t want to lose connection and crash it every flight either or have it freak out and cut open a brides face or anything either. So anyone here use it to make money or is it just safer as an hobby drone to just fly for fun

I'm assuming he lost fov on controller . You can fly most drones way further then you can watch the fov . unless he turned the 5gh off . The 2.4 on the GoPro isn't that far either.
If you haven’t done it yet, don’t. GoPro has discontinued its production in the drone industry. Pick you up a used DJI Phantom off Craigslist for half the price and twice the drone. That’s what I’m doing currently.
I'm assuming you lost fov on the screen.. no way the GoPro fov goes that far in 2.4 or 5gh. The controller will fly for sure. No GoPro fov unless you changed antennas and such.
yes i had video... the moments I didn't is when I lost line of sight and it entered return to home mode... the controls and video are integrated into the same signal, same as with DIY equipment coming out now from DJI and the like... 2 miles is nothing for 5ghz when in LOS

Why on Earth would you want to risk your quad by flying over water on a 'distance test'??? Have you not seen the myriad videos on here like "my drone lost in the lake..."? Don't understand the whole 'how far will it go?' craze anyway, but if you really have to do it, at least fly somewhere where you can salvage the quad if things go wrong!

Chrono Trigger it’s safer as a hobby drone unless you are a professional don’t use this drone to make money positive word of advice no hard feelings 👍

no it did not freeze except when I noted in video... if it freezes, it will start back home automatically

I'm lucky if I don't lose signal going past 1000 feet, but WiFi density might be a factor, not many WiFi routers in this swampy area!
