Of course RAFI's voice was a gift from God to us in the subcontinent; It had healing affect on the listener, which we all miss, and can not be reproduced. But OP Nayyar's amazingly simple composition is so brilliant that put in any format or genre, it plays out just as good. Thanks from Rafi's lovers to Ivy York and hope they have all the best. Made us all happy.
Very well-said ... No one cn ever b closer to Rafi ji bt d efforts/liking/ appreciating n producing one of his best songs is too commendable job done by Ivy. It shows his true love.
NOPE, it's actually the other way around. Even OP said it, that if there's no Rafi there wouldn't be OP. Then besides OP, Rafi had Naushad, Ravi, Madan Mohan, SJ, Lakshmikant Pyarae Lal, Hemant Kumar, uhhhh a string of other musicians. While ALL these musicians had only one RAFI. Cheers 🥂
We often HEAR Hindi film music directors copying melody from western world..HERE IS A SONG WHERE ''IVY YORK ' BAND' PLAYED THE O.P.NAYYAR VERSION IN ENGLISH . They took formal permission,as well. LISTEN TO THE INTERLUDE INSTRUMENTAL PART . WHAT O.P.N HAD COMPOSED IN THE MID 60S HAS BEEN RETAINED IN TOTO WITHOUT CHANGE IN TODAY'S 'DIGITAL RECORDING SCENARIO.coupled with modern instruments. And then Mhd Rafi's divine voice is spirit -uplifting. OPN AND RAFI had formed glorious ,immortal combination. KUDOS TO O.P.NAYYAR
Brilliant. As i had said many time before many of the compositions of Hindi film music of 1950s , 60s and 70s were of international class. And the grrat and our desr Md Rafi was matchless while rendering this composition. He sang in a strange subdued tone.
I hear the call, the call of spring, A gentle breeze, the hope she brings. Someone will turn and look this way, A gaze of love upon this day. I hear the call, the call of spring. All those who hear begin to sing. The call of spring will speak my name , And somewhere my love will hear the same. My mother told me long ago she heard the call. She followed the sound it lead her to the temple tree. Beneath the branches stood a man who'd travelled far,
And that's the day that she first met my dear papa. I hear the call, the call of spring. All those who hear begin to sing. The call of spring will speak my name, And somewhere my love will hear the same. So when the winter days have passed and skies are clear, The whisper in the trees says love is in the air. So prepare yourself and have a little heart, For spring's arrived to bring a brand new start I hear the call, the call of spring. All those who hear begin to sing. The call of spring will speak my name, And somewhere my love will hear the same.
One of my favorite tracks that seems to get even better with the passing of years. OPN was just amazing in creating such lovely music. And yeah, Ivy and the band's reproduction too is just superb. The video's sets, colour, film scratches, camera jerks, et al can convince viewers that it had been shot much before the 1960s, although it had been done just over a decade. How I had always longed to play the riff of this original track in an acoustic guitar, but sadly UA-cam does not have any worthwhile tutorial though. Cheers! New Delhi
I was actually practising the original on the keys just a few minutes before I saw this message from a friend about how the Ivys asked his permission to use the composition, and with this link.. Clearly the universe wanted me to listen to this version today 😊 It is indeed a tribute to the completeness of the original composition that it has been retained in entirety, including the delightful interludes, in the adaptation. OP Nayyar the immortal. I’m sure he is listening somewhere everyone someone plays or hears his songs, and he is surely delighted with the appreciation and love expressed in his memory ❤
Thanks for making a tribute for our beloved Rafi. You have performed it at it's best. I am hearing this again and again as I have listened his ( Rafi's version) a thousand times.....Nice one...Would appreciate if you could upload a karoke version of yours...
Love this.. Very tastefully done and amazingly melodious all in all - Kudos to the lead Ivy, the choir / chorus and each n every musician.. Superbly done!!!
Now it has become my job to reply with this link to everyone who posts download of this as the 'original' behind 'Pukarta chala hoon'...:) Nonetheless, great job done @ivyyork
This is one of my most favorite songs by Mohd Rafi who is like God for many... A great and humble human being. I never imagined I would have loved a version of this song... But I did! You have done an incredible job😊👍🏼
Gosh!! Complete copy of Indian film song "Pukarta chala hu main ",1960s... Great music composed by O.P.Nayyar. Proud that Indian songs hv such world wide popularity.💕😊😊
Music is bringing the world together .... think like that rather than who copied whom... there have been maestros in music all over the world ... quality of music exists globally not regionally!

Usually it is the other way around.. So.. Expect to see lot more views in the coming days as this is forwarded more and more among Indians..
Nice rendition to Pukarta Chala hoon main . Unlike some Xenomaniac Indians I wouldn't say it is a copy but just a fine tribute just like some Bollywood maestro's have done in past with some hollywood numbers .
Even if it's copying, it’s with permission from the musician, the great O. P. Nayar. Many Hindi movie songs are copying, but without consent and acknowledgement.
This song moved me in a different mood... I know the original and I deeply culture plagiarism as well and I know many Hindi songs copied from western tunes... This one is the opposite. BUT what a voice you have dear!!! As unique as I felt when I listened Lana Del Rey or Joann Baez, first time.... I love listening more tunes from you Ivy... you have God Gifted voice.
Please give proper credit to the brilliant composer of this wonderful song, a childhood favourite of many of us fans, that was written by the very famous Indian music composer, O.P. Nayyar, in 1965, for the Indian movie, Mere Sanam. Mohammed Rafi saab sang it but Mr. Nayyar composed the music. It's not correct to not mention his name. And it's not just Rafi, it's Mohammed Rafi.
Thanks for pointing this out. I thought I’d added the full details many years ago but it must not have updated and saved properly. Description now corrected. 👍 (Ravi)
Prakash Mahagaonakar no it’s sung by Ivy York and played by ‘The Ivy York Band’. Ivy was also previously known as Aleesha Rome in Australia. Thanks for the kind words 👍
