Re: Tom Selleck fitting, from google: "The Ferraris used in the show had to be specially modified to accomodate Tom Selleck, who stands 6'4" tall. The padding was removed from the seats so he would sit lower in the car, and the seats were bolted as far away from the steering wheel as possible to maximize the leg room."

At 7:04 you can see the gap behind the seat for the current driver.
At about 7:10 there is no gap for Selleck.

I’ve owned my ‘79 308 GTS since 1987. Run at Watkins Glen and Summit Point at Ferrari Nationals . Climbed the Toll Road at Stowe in VT, done 1000 mile rallies and a personal trip where the stored ginger ale in the front boot, started to explode, well we’d removed the spare because we were on a two week trip in the car and we stocked in advance. Thought that the travesty would be storage in the rear. Car has 60000 miles of which we put almost 40000. Very few issues in ownership. One clutch, the obvious belt changes, the points frying in the rally resulting in an upgrade to electronic ignition through a rebuild of the distributors. And kiss the catalysts goodbye. The road feel of the 308 is still amazing. I now have a 488 Spider as well as my first love the 308. Ferrari forever.

You know what guys that was epic! The 308 has always been my favourite Ferrari as it was on my wall in the 80s and what gave my my Ferrari passion since I was 10. I’ve been in a few 308s and a 328 and I loved it. Seeing you guys smile all the way through and to hear Jason say “meet your hero’s” and Damian appreciating a car he had no interest in made this video so cool . This drive every Ferrari series is just epic and I’m loving every episode.,
Just include Jason in more as the banter between you two is what takes the videos to another level.

I hired an '84 308 QV for a weekend in Scotland way back in the late 90s. A lot of fun to drive though the gearbox wasn't great until everything had warmed up but I think this is common on classic Ferrari's.

I had a 208......the little known 2.0L turbo version, it was superb, a bit of light bubbling but it never missed a beat. Cheap too, it was a long time ago and I replaced it with a Porsche 924 Carrera GTS which went wrong with monotonous regularity, back end of the 80's, I was happy then

Nice video and looks like a great day and roads. Having driven 308-348-355-360 I would agree the brakes on the 308 leave a lot to be desired. But it’s an amazing smooth cruiser and made for those rolling sweepers like you were on. I would love to add one some day to complement my Gated Gallardo. My father had a bunch of these growing up (see my channel) so videos like these being back the nostalgia. Such an awesome designed car.

This is the sweet spot of Ferrari's and cars for that matter too me. Modern enough to be used everyday, but not so modern where the cars got BIG, complex and really to fast to drive on the street and have fun. I actually prefer its predecessor the 308 GT4 for driving experience but the GTB/GTS easily wins the looks department.
In regard to the brakes they can be improved, later calipers and pad material will do wonders, and the tops are really easy to install. Optimally it is a 2 person job but I can do it myself. I have no experience with a Porsche Targa, but the 308 is pretty similar to the Fiat x1/9 targa except they moved the catches to the opposite side.
    Enjoyable video guys

308 (carburetors-only!) certainly the purest; but 328 overall more refined: a matter of taste (and usage), I guess…
GTB sportier than the GTS (structural rigidity, dry-sump), but inaccessible if you’re over 6’ tall…
R134 conversion easy and relatively cheap.
Brakes are actually very good: you should get that car checked, maybe. I witnessed 308’s with standard brakes getting pounded in Fiorano for a whole day without failing, and always providing very appropriate stopping power and feel.

Nice vid fellas one of your best I'd say. Well sorted car too Early carb model is the sweet spot defo, and if you like the GTS you'd be blown away by GTB.The 328 is more sanitised and the under steering binnacle even more obtrusive on thighs Funnily enough I found the Italian mkt GTS turbo was more fun on public roads as it had a bit of the 288 about it despite only 370bhp.
Be interested to see what you think of my other two faves 206 or 246 (246 better imho) and the 512bb when you get the keys. The do feel old though but tactility and wieldiness (if that's a word) make up for it.

Thanks for realizing so nice review. Too many people compare these cars to modern ones without realizing all the pleasure that a vintage car ,properly driven, could give. As a 1985 Qv gts owner i allow myself 2 notes : air conditioning could be converted to r134 without issues, the steering wheel is not original,it comes from a Qv. Regarding the brakes if you decide to put 16"wheels you could get a big improvement with Superformance brake kit. It's not plug&play but almost invisible from outside ( no restomod appearance)

Selleck had the bottom seat and rails removed and sat basically on a pillow. But did you know that the producers originally wanted a Porsche 928. However, they wanted to to have either a Targa or or glass roof for aerial shots. Porsche refused the co-operation. Probably not the best decision from Stuttgart. But those days Porsche was already quite tight on money - till Wiedeking came to rescue it in mid 90s.
Thru the lense it looks that the proportions are not exactly right with long overhangs and not the most sexy stance but they look great in real life. Very small and cute. Still built in the old way on top of a rather delicate steel frame. I think it was the 360 when they went for pressed steel bodies and quality improved a lot. The most passionate 308-fans would always prefer the Vetroresinas but even they were not that fast and they too are prone to the steel frame rusting. Still, a wet dream but probably best as a dream.

Who ordered it in that colour, and did they want it to match their Hillman Avenger?
Good to see Jason back. Great video.

I don't care if it's original. It's brown. Paint it.

Does this car have the OE Michelin TRX rims with modern replacements? If so, probably best to put them in the corner of the shop for the concourse and put the QV 16s on it. Lovely car though the Dino does look a bit more delicate. The 288GTO takes this shape to another level or two.
