    This is my favorite chronograph movement. I had a cheap chinese version of it once and that watch broke rather quickly. I had disassembled it and reassembled it a couple times to figure out how everything works and I cannot get enough of this movement. I hope to own a Tag Heuer Carrera chronograph that has this movement in it one day. Thank you for this video.

    ETA has some of the most sophisticated mechanisms for autowinding. In one particular ladies' automatic movement (I forget which calibre) I found a planetary system with a multitude of gears which perform reduction for winding the mainspring barrel, and even a system for decoupling the rotor when the watch is fully wound- I believe there were ten gears alone in the selfwinding mechanism of this movement.

    In my old 1991 Breitling Windrider Chronomat B13047 runs the same Valjoux 7750 movement. It´s a very good movement and you will find spare parts for it even in a hundret years.

    I did not know that the automatic winder only winds up in one direction. That explains why the winder of my 7750 watch sometimes gets flung around by arm movements rapidly.

    Hi, great presentation of the movement. Could you help to understand why the barrel with the main spring shall be replaced, what might be the reason to do so? My watch with the 7750 movement remained untouched, placed in a watch mover, and I have noticed that after two years the watch does not work. And the authorised service wants to charge me for the barrel with the mainspring replacement.

    Any tips on how to care for a watch that has this movement?
    1. do people normally have the main (big) seconds hand going even though theres a small second subdial?
    2 is it best practice to stop the chrono (seconds hand) first before resetting it with the bottom right button?

    Hello! Have been considering repairing my own tissot with this movement (how hard can it be?!). The issue is that the minute counter (top dial when looking at the watch) started missing minutes from time to time (second hand would pass by and it wouldn't tick off a minute) but now misses all the time. Any idea what could be causing that? Thanks so much. Jason in USA

    Thank you Blair (or watchesonbroadway)! I will most certainly give this a try. I would like to buy a new sapphire crystal from you if I could; I am not sure of the thickness, but I know it is 30mm in diameter. The back crystal is not sapphire (scratched) and is smaller, maybe 25mm, but it would be nice to have a sapphire there. Both are pretty thin. Watch is Tissot v560 Bridgeport chronograph. I would also buy a band & oils from you. I am in the USA. Please let me know. Thanks again.

    Hola: Superlative video!!! I have read in many forums that Valjoux 7750 (I know them quiet well) are really great but very hard and expensive to service because to building avoid costs Valjoux seemed to forget the watchmaker. I am thinking to buy a Hamilton but I am not sure... I have Seikos 6138 and Citizen chronos that are still running...thank you!!!

    This was a great video! Do you know what IWC does to modify this movement in their pilot chrono? Can’t find anything with a definitive answer!

  • @alexmh6131
    @alexmh6131 5 років тому

    So I watched the first time and thought, no the reset of the chrono spun clockwise. So I watched in 0.25X playback speed and sure enough, i was right. The chrono test spins the hand clockwise and stops almost dead on 12, possibly over shooting to 12.30 on the hour position. I mean unless the shutter speed of the camera is just that bad that I can actually see the hand passing past the 6,7,8,9 etc then pretty sure your wrong on that particular bit of info. That being said, great video, very nice showcase of the sweeping hands and a nice clear look at the movement in the nude! Probably saved alot of people the trouble of taking theirs apart to be curious.

    Only negative of this movement is the thickness. I've been looking at the Archimede Pilot Chrono and it's a beautiful watch but it seems so thick. Without having an authorized dealer where I could check it out in person, I'm finding it hard to drop $1.200 on one.

    • @ohioatheist8052
      @ohioatheist8052 10 років тому

      I own that watch, and it fits surprisingly well. I've owned several watches with a 7750 or similar variant, and the Archimede isn't all that thick, comparatively speaking. The 7750s in Hamiltons (as shown in this video) are super thick.
