Well... Leonardo da Vinci _was_ a rather Doctor-ish person, as far as humans go. In many ways, he was one of the _most_ Doctor-ish humans whom we've ever known, really, so... Both are evidently within a central area of Capaldi's acting interest. As well as him bringing his own sort of style and gravitas to each role.
I always find it impressive that a guy who was in a punk rock band and did LSD with Craig Ferguson can act successfully in intense, serious, or rage-fueled roles.
the keyser soze(A) I said he was in a punk rock band, and (B) Why do you people feel the need to evangelize your definition of "living"? Some of us are comfortable in reality and don't need chemically-induced euphoria to have a good time.
the keyser soze I wasn't criticizing him, I was saying it's surprising someone who's a Bohemian in real life can pull off Malcolm Tucker. And you _just_ criticized me for not doing what you define as "living", you fucking hypocrite.
This is one of the most mind blowing documentaries I have ever seen. It is startling, meditative and utterly profound. It is like listening to Da Vinci talk about everything himself instead of people talking about him. All other documentaries that "talk about" him are pale in comparison. Hunt it down and watch it and never be the same again.
Yes, it is. You can't go wrong in Florence -- or watching and listening to Capaldi. I have a question, though: is he a tenor, or a baritone? I thought the normal voice is tenor, but he can reach down deep for that gravelly growl.
I first saw this not that long before Peter was announced as the Doctor. Was already a fan of his work, and this only made me more excited about him taking over the Tardis. Knew he'd be amazing. :)
He's a great Doctor. Different then matt smith version, but still the Doctor. More similar to the 3rd and the original Doctor; very stern, and serious.
TheSmokegunner Yes! A cartoon of a show, and completely ignoring the fact that most of these guys -- and their rich patrons -- were bisexual. It wasn't a big deal in Renaissance Italy, unless you got public about it, and the the Church would probably kill you. It's like in the Brad Pitt movie, "Troy" -- Pitt was all upset by the death of his "cousin", but a glance through the Odyssey makes it quite clear that Patroclus was his lover. Naughty, naughty, can't have that! So many people must have come away from the film quite puzzled over this peculiarly fiery and important relationship between Greek guys and their cousins . . . ? Wha . . . ?
He did when he was an old man; not sure about when he was in his twenties and thirties. I've read that in fact he loved quite a long life for the time, and became rather bitter near the end of it after so much bruising contact with the powerful politicians and churchmen of his time, not to mention an *extremely* competitive "art market". I'll look for this film about him.
Da Vinci, looks at the world and wants to know how it works, wants to push humanity in (at the time) impossible directions, and he also needs to buy grocerys. Does the grocery addition say that its an anoying distraction from his mind, and a waste of time, or does it say that to Da Vincis Thinking about how nature works is as simple as figuring out what grocerys to buy?
Every few seasons the main character in Doctor Who "regenerates" into a new person, and a new actor plays the role. You're right, the last guy to play him, Matt Smith, was a young guy, but the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, is considerably older.
Huh. Fair enough. I saw a few clips with the other guy and I thought he was quite funny. New guy any good? Might start watching but do I need to watch previous episodes to get it?
range567W Yeah, the new guy is excellent, although for obvious reasons not as sexy if you're female or if you swing that way. You can pick up at the beginning of any season without missing too much, but I'd recommend starting in season 1 (2005) if you want to enjoy it to the max. It's all on Netflix and Amazon Prime if you have either.
Jack Hanke Actually, "sexy" is a movable marker, once you get off the top of the Bell curve. I'm older than Capaldi, and he looks pretty damn hot to me! But your "type" would nave to be skinny guys. To my eyes, that's the physical elegance of the greyhound or whippet, and attractive.
The worst doctor who yet, who ever wrote this season need to be tied to a chair like the scene on James Bond quantum solace scene and ask them why would they go threw this
the keyser soze Aah, poor fans who don't like Capaldi's Who -- sorry for your self-deprivation of a fantastic Doctor. On the other hand, I quit watching during the Matt Smith season -- too much smoochy for me. To each his own.
I love Peters voice... I could listen to him all day
Gotta love Peter Capaldi. He's such a great Doctor.
Even when he's playing Leonardo Da Vinci he's still The Doctor.

Oh no he was a punk that did LSD? You should try life one day, you might enjoy it!
the keyser soze(A) I said he was in a punk rock band, and (B) Why do you people feel the need to evangelize your definition of "living"? Some of us are comfortable in reality and don't need chemically-induced euphoria to have a good time.
KaptainMorganWo well why criticise him then? He has enjoyed his life and had a good time.
Too much of a good thing will always hurt you.
the keyser soze I wasn't criticizing him, I was saying it's surprising someone who's a Bohemian in real life can pull off Malcolm Tucker.
And you _just_ criticized me for not doing what you define as "living", you fucking hypocrite.
the keyser soze So, you're a ten year old.
What an actor very very talented and an amazing doctor

I cant wait for a Da Vinci episode now.
If it's anything like the Vincent Van Gogh episode than yes please to a Da Vinci episode!
Yes. And then slide in an Assassin's Creed references.
That was strangely beautiful.
No. It was truly beautiful.
Yes, it is. You can't go wrong in Florence -- or watching and listening to Capaldi. I have a question, though: is he a tenor, or a baritone? I thought the normal voice is tenor, but he can reach down deep for that gravelly growl.
Is it odd to imagine Ezio standing on that cross and hearing him say what Peter said in his voice?
ichabod a tenor with a huge range I think. Normally he speaks like tenor and sings like tenor as well.
This is one of the most profound documentaries I have ever experienced. Find it and watch it.
I first saw this not that long before Peter was announced as the Doctor. Was already a fan of his work, and this only made me more excited about him taking over the Tardis. Knew he'd be amazing. :)
I remember assassinating a Templar on that Church.
Good times good times
My god how did you survive, I remember seeing you falling from the roof top
The memories of ac2
I remember impaling innocent civilians and templars with spears near this church.
I remember not only killing that templar, but also climbing it for fun.
It feels like he's playing the doctor haha
Peter Capaldi is so good in this. Which is not an easy thing to do...
I remember jumping off that church, that was the best feeling ever. And landing on the hay bale god, i miss AC2
Its interesting that he's playing Da Vinci, I always imagined him one day play Machiavelli.
He did! In a 2013 documentary called "Who's Afraid of Machiavelli".
So when do the Cybermen show up?
Been there, climbed that.
He's a great Doctor. Different then matt smith version, but still the Doctor. More similar to the 3rd and the original Doctor; very stern, and serious.
I remember flying to that place with the glider Da Vinci built for me
Wait... that was AC 2 oops sorry.
Another page of the codex, how exciting!
Probably terrible of me but not long into the video i was thinking "i remember climbing that in assassin's creed"
Join the club
You aren't a terrible person if 90% of everyone else who watched this thought the same exact thing.
+TheRandomPerson 02 | Well since 90 % of people are terrible persons , it's arguable :)
In Italy this is a famous joke "I remember climbing\see that in assassin's creed" "Ricordo di averlo scalato\visto in Assassin's creed"
To think if The Doctor and Leonardo Da Vinci were to meet in the future of Doctor Who, I would like to see Peter Capaldi play both.
How the doctors mind works
I just hear the Doctor. lol
Leonardo DaVinci was the Doctor all along?
Honestly, that makes too much sense
I Love Leonardo Da Vinci soooooooooooooooooooo much he is my favorite person in the hole wide world 😀
The scarf is back!
Looks awsome!!
12th DOCTOR
I saw this film ages ago
It's funny coming here to see Whoviens and Assassins mingling...I love being a nerd!
Never knew Da Vinci was Scottish.
Da vinci's demons is the best iteration of da vinci
I loved that episode
It really isn't. It's a disgrace to his name, they've made him into a Renaissance Tony Stark. Da Vinci was as far away from that as you could imagine.
Marco Polo is the next best thing

Doctor who favabori
is it just me or is he still the doctor no matter what role he plays?
Is this doctor who or a new show where he plays Leonardo di Vinci
So many Assassin's Creed vibes
So basically, this is a sneak peak of this weeks episode, LOL
He was also in The lord of the Rings Trilogy... He also portrayed Malcolm Tucker.
He was also in a soft porn in the 70's
DR NO!
Hold up! Who was he in Lord of the Rings???
Must buy mushrooms.
they didn't have light-bulbs at the time of leonardo - bad ananchronism, but otherwise yes, superb :)
But this was out last year. I downloaded of piratebay (R.I.P). Good watch though
Why did they need to put doctors who's peter? He's been in more things other than DW
Probably because that's what he's most popular for right now.
There should be a rule that says the current doctor can't act in any other roles.
Didn't da Vinci have a beard?
He did when he was an old man; not sure about when he was in his twenties and thirties. Getting ACII vibes.
Dr. Who is Dr. Poo
0:26 why so flirty? Do it again

ichabod He is gorgeous. His voice, his hands, his hair, and the most attractive feature of all is how he adores his wife *sigh*
i want matt smith back on doctor who
F1R5t
First!!!!!!!!!!
The worst doctor who yet, who ever wrote this season need to be tied to a chair like the scene on James Bond quantum solace scene and ask them why would they go threw this
U do know this isn't a doctor who epx right , this is for history channel
Also that scene was in Casino Royale
Lol, what a fucking idiot LOL
Agreed, absolutely shit this season.
the keyser soze Aah, poor fans who don't like Capaldi's Who -- sorry for your self-deprivation of a fantastic Doctor. On the other hand, I quit watching during the Matt Smith season -- too much smoochy for me. To each his own.
