The One Piece anime is severely lacking, imho. My suggestion would be: don't watch it, it's a waste of time. Endless repetition and filler of each episode, no consistency in the worldbuilding, all idiotic OP powered characters where the good guys never die - though they try to make a huge deal of one "death" that they milk throughout the series. Extremely bad pacing. No real overarching story, no goal, unless one pretends claiming "I wanna become the pirate king" is all it takes for a storyline. No real plots. No real tension. No deeper meanings or substance. Basically, it's an anime for kids, like pokemon, albeit for a slightly elder public, say 12-16 years. You have dozens of anime which are MUCH better.

Personally I really can't get trough it. The pacing is incredibly horrendous and I have watched multiple hundreds of episodes with enormous pauses in between because it just get's sooo drawn-out.
I keep coming back because the world, the characters, and the story is amazing but the pacing really kills it for me. I'm probably just gonna' wait until One Pace is finished with an arc and watch it then.
I knew that people also complain about the pacing of Naruto a lot so I was honestly thinking that I would be fine with One Piece's pacing as well since I really didn't mind Naruto's but I was wrong lol

This was literally what I went through having known about the undercover guys at Water 7 😭 i knew they were enemies so i was surprised when I saw them being boat workers lol.
My sister knew every spoiler possible but she still loved the anime.
Even knowing bug spoilers you can still like the scenes with the full context, thats how good oda's writting is tbh

As u guys thinking about starting one piece and as a hardcore fan of one piece, please enjoy first 500 episode pure heartedly and notice every detail cuz there is so much foreshadowing, also dont go for goofyness in character design it becomes very comfortable once u are into lookout for spoilers cuz people won't let u watch in piece

As someone who started out as a avid One Piece hater. Im now fully caught up and its my all-time favorite anime. The characters, world building, story (+ insane foreshadowing), and the fight scenes
What was your reason for hating it?
If it was the pacing, could you please elaborate on how you still managed to get through it because I've been struggling for years to get through One Piece since I really like the world, the characters, and the story but I really can't enjoy it due to the pacing.

Ill be completely honest with you. The first time I tried to watch it I only watched a couple of episodes and it just seemed boring so I dropped. I grew to hate it cause of how much people hyped up what I initially thought was an anime that was not at all worth the time it would take to catch up. But then after sometime I truly gave it a chance and watched through the Arlong park arc and for me personally after that I started liking it and after Chopper joined the crew I really started to love the anime.
The pacing can definitely be rough but thats when I would take a break from it and watch a 12-24 ep. anime then pick it back up. Also as weird as it sounds I would read episode titles ahead of where I was to see when the next big story progression would happen since OP is notorious for half-way spoiling what the episode is about and it would help me know how much more badly paced ep. were left before something interesting happened.

I started One Piece in January and it was so daunting at the time. Halfway through I'd consider it one of the best stories I've ever seen unfold, and apparently I've only scratched the surface of what's to come. It's a show that elicits feelings of joy like nothing I've ever experienced so I hope y'all can experience what I have.

yeah, many had told me the same. I tried it as well, and kept on it for hundreds of episodes. Found it meh at the start, and ended it finding meh after several hundreds of episodes (after which I quit, because I knew it was to no avail).
I'm always surprised when I hear people say it's the best out there. I have a theory about that, but if I tell it, the fans just get even more mad. ;-)

Ive been watching it for 21 years. Just think about that. Something to have such a big fanbase over decades is absolute madness. One Piece will one day be set in the history books as one of the greatest stories told. It may have each and every shonen trope, yes. But it's one of the biggest stories of our generation.

I will say that the people that say that the first 200 episodes are slow, is a lie. The people who say this, want to rush the journey. Oda created THE best anime and there’s no doubt about it. People just want to deny it. One Piece expands in so many ways and tackles a lot of real life issues.
@someguy9164 true best manga, but the anime is not okay. It is amazing, besides the pacing in the later arcs, the anime is way better than many Shonen, amd now that the anime is getting a remake by a different studio, I doubt they will have the same pacing issues.

It's true, I was exposed to several spoilers, there was even one that was a big spoiler, but that actually made me excited to watch One Piece,i feel like "when will I get to that part".
And after I watched it, it turned out that there were many things that I thought were as big as the spoilers
As a new One Piece watcher (300 episodes in so far), the pacing is a little slow some times but the writing is brilliant.

What's the most fascinating is how Oda introduces us as readers into his world. It starts really simple, almost as our world and the deeper into story, the more creative and wierd it is. For me, One Piece is probably the best journey story in any mangas.
This show was something that intimidated me but after starting and catching up in little over a year, it’s the greatest decision I’ve made as an adult. Being able to theory craft and wait for the manga releases with the people who have been watching for 20+ years is a breathtaking experience that I implore all to start before it’s too late and it’s over!
If you react to One Piece I can't say it enough don't start with One PAce....It's maybe worth it much laaaater , but in the beginning it cuts out a lot of beautiful details and moments from the OG, so experience the OG first :)
I can't wait for you to see the real masterpiece of a storytelling, especially with Namis Backstory. They sadly had to change a lot in the LA, that's why I coudn't fully like it...

Yes,the previous arc was adapted well in LA, but for arlong park,the best arc in the East Blue Saga, they changed it very badly.

Having a bunch of locations is one thing, but crafting them in a way that they're all subtly connected to eachother somehow on a consistent basis is a stroke of genius by Oda. Like the narration says at 5:32
Even where the story is at now, the world keeps expanding and the lore keeps deepening. Any world builder could study this amazing world for hours and just scratch the surface. Its absolutely magnificent. I can't wait for yall to watch this ❤❤

It’s impossible to describe why One Piece is so amazing to someone that hasn’t watched it.
It’s so much more than just the islands and crews, the story is so deep and the emotional connections are some of the best.
The mysteries, the theories, the world building and characters are just unbeatable when it comes to One Piece.
I’m looking forward to seeing you start it, this is the time to do it as the story is in its last saga and will be ending in around 4-5 years.
I have recommended recently (last 6 months) to several friends and groups of people, most of them went for one pace at first but also most of them went back and watched it normally since one pace really cuts off a lot of the extra flair and swaps several eps around so you get to know information ahead of time, robbing some really important "wtf" moments. Whichever way you guys decide to do, excited to see you guys will be joining the crew! Welcome!

OMGGGG! I’m a long time viewer of your channel and I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU GUYS TO JOIN THE LONG JOURNEY OF ONE PIECE! Goodness, I’m so happy that people are starting to indulge into this brilliant story. Oda is the goat, a legend for creating such a wonderful story. Every small details makes a huge impact in every parts of the story, the different sophisticated unique cultures of each islands, and people. Oda also tackles all the problems of our real world, you’ll notice them soon enough, also some characters are based on real life people, some places are inspired by classics like Dante’s inferno, the flying dutchman, some are based on real life pirates which is so cool! I cannot wait! I’ve been a fan of One piece since 2000’s, and I’ve repeatedly watch One Piece and it never gets old or boring to me, and funnily enough I get to learn more each watch which is crazy! There’s so much more One piece can offer. You’ll also feel like being part of the crew along the way.
Also Oda is a so consistent with his story, the plot, and the characters. He gives so much life and a truly chefs kiss to every character development. I’ve never seen such a very beautiful anime than One Piece and I’ve seen ALOT of anime for the past 21 years (Anime is such a huge part of my life because my mom is working in Japan since I was 4 and currently living here in Japan with her) BUT ANYWAYS! I hope you guys get to enjoy it like we do, immersed to the fun! Laugh, sing, cry to our crew!

i knew one piece existed but i didn't really get into it until i started watching it as an adult and it became my all time favorite. and even then, this silly pirate cartoon managed to teach me life values and personal morals that i would have probably never found on my own. Ive never regretted picking up episode 1 and i promise you wont either. but do yourself a favor, bring some tissues!

One Piece is kinda different, it was made for you to enjoy and having fun with the journey little by little, sometimes you could think its slow and too big of a commitment but once you start it you just get so rewarded with the amazing world-building and storyteling.. the best part for me is the mysteries that makes fans go crazy on making theory's and stuff... anyways, I really envy people that has the opportunity to embrace it for the first time, hope you guys get into it as soon as possible ❤
People who say its slow, they have their own standard of watching. A very consumerist mindset. Probably JJK fans. (The désire of instant pelasure is insane nowadays). This is why Netflix is such a big deal now.

You guys will absolutely love the show. It’s EXTREMELY full of such cool and interesting info - the world layout, powers and abilities, characters and backgrounds - everything has been written to PERFECTION by Eichiro Oda. It’s definitely very long - I watched during Covid - but once you get around 100-200 episodes in, you’re already hooked and the real plot of the series starts to ramp up which is perfect. The show also has a decent amount of filler/not relevant plot content so definitely use a guide as you go along - some episodes are legit like 10-20 episode random side stories that have no further story development.
Sanji is my fav character in LA too,because he is the most accurate straw hats to the anime
90s/2000s style animation really makes me want to recommend Yu Yu Hakusho once more! Brilliant series, well written for the type, use of early concepts refined later on in HxH and that god brilliant battle shonen animation of the time!

I love how everyone is staerting to get into One Piece. I started watching in 22 and finished about 1 year later and then at the end of last year, 2 reaction channels I've been watching started their journey aswell. And with one additional channel that's a bit further down the line I'm parallel rewatching One Piece 3 times and they are all at different parts of the story. Can't wait for the 4th rewatch :D It will take ages but the payoffs are unlike any other anime

One piece is definitely about the adventure, the characters, the highs and lows, the full experience. It's not something you can just watch 1 episode or even 100 episodes of and understand why it's good, the full experience is what makes it so special. The character development, the connections, understanding how oda can come up with new ideas and always make it new/different, it has great themes, etc... It's hard to write characters that are unique, likeable and relatable but oda writes every character amazing even the side characters get development and feel like main characters. Cool fact one piece has the longest arc in fiction and the 2nd longest arc in fiction as well 1st being wano arc and 2nd being dressrosa arc... I believe it's also has over 1000 characters in total which makes it even more impressive even if you don't like the main characters there's still over 1000 others you will definitely find the characters you love. And they make characters reappear in the show, they don't dispose of characters simply after the arc is done they make reappearances which makes the characters more important. It's strong point is also worldbuilding as you can see from this video great worldbuilding.
omg so exciting that you're considering one piece, but i wanna say if you do plan on watching it, pls don't use one pace. or at least wait until way later in the story to use it. it cuts off a lot of good moments from the original and reorders things sometimes. you should find a filler list and skip all of those (there's one filler that the fans will probably beg you to watch, but that's up to you once you get there). also pls pls pls don't search anything up, it's so easy to get spoiled since it's been out so long. there's things that fans have known for so long, they don't even realize they're spoiling someone when they casually mention it, so just be careful and enjoy

I dont recommend one pace. It cuts too many parts and well animated scenes. It sometimes ruins the emotion of a scene because it's for people who have no patience. Maybe one pace might be better for after the middle half of the story.

The story of One Piece is fantastic! I personally prefer the manga a lot, but overall the anime is great! I'd absolutely watch your reactions!
please do not do one pace if you guys plan on starting it. one pace is fine for arcs later on, but the prologue has a certain charm in the original. but that is just my opinion. its about the journey not the destination (but like I said one pace is a good alternative for arcs down the line)

Started one piece at the beginning of 2023 (literally on new years of 2023) and am currently on ep 970 , it’s quite a journey , some arcs aren’t as good as others but in hindsight it’s still a super great journey to embark on , hopefully you guys start the show and enjoy it , be careful with spoilers tho since I believe the manga is close to ending , hopefully like many of us you don’t get spoiled on what the one piece is before you finish the anime
I remember some people over on your patreon criticizing that One Piece lacks things to talk about episode to episode in some places and I do agree with that to a degree given the more old school pacing etc but during the journey you'll get teased with more mysteries regarding the world than you'll know what to do with that you'll get to talk about for days on end with each other and other fans and learn ever so slightly more about the world only to be left with more questions thanks to the answers you got. Characters also tend to give you atleast a few things to touch on between episodes if nothing else. Given recent events and that we're quickly (relative to how long it's been) approaching the end game of the series now is a great time to get in if you wanna have a chance of catching up some time before the end to be there to experience something special. If you get truly into it anyway.

I'm still at the beginning of one piece (only episode 260) but I can say that it has become one of my favorite anime, it's truly an incredible journey, you won't regret it

i caught up to the anime just last week, and let me tell you, when you bring one piece to the channel, i will be right there with yall watching every single reaction because one piece is now my favourite anime it has EVERYTHING. The world building is insane, character backstories will ALWAYS leave you in tears, the fights are hype af, AND THE LORE IS SO DELICIOUSLY GOOD IT'LL EAT AT YOUR BRAIN. ALL THE CONSPIRACIES AND MYSTERIES SLOWLY UNRAVEL AND IT DRIVES YOU CRAZY.
Seeing my favourite reactors react to it will be a treat!
One piece is the best series I have seen at managing BIG payoff moments for the things it sets up for short, medium and loooooong term answers all at the same time
From emotional things, to worldbuilding stuff, including epic stuff too or battles
Its what made it addicting to me when i binged it

Aye! It’s nice to see you guys considering One Piece! It has a really great fanbase that is constantly growing, especially right now.
A lot of people that don’t know One Piece think it’s about getting the One Piece and they think they can just wait for the One Piece to be revealed instead of ever watching or reading, but that is just not the truth. Without context a lot of the series wouldn’t make sense. If a fan were to try to explain what is happening 600 episodes in anyone would think they were crazy. The One Piece might end up being something boring to an outsider and it might seem like not a big deal, but with the context you gain through the journey and in understanding why we are looking for the one piece, what it means to the people, to the world, and the purpose of the story, to the watcher or reader that has gone through the journey, it means something completely different.
As someone who wishes I could forget it and watch it over again without expectations, I’m jealous of anyone starting it. If you watch it, just enjoy the moment, like Luffy would.

Yea my friends always recommend me to watch One Piece but since it was so long I was having second thoughts until recently. now I am at ep 500 cant stop watching it, so worth it.
if you guys do take the plunge and watch it i recommend looking for an episode guide that removes the filler episodes, so its not as much of a strain to watch everything
