I will tell you one thing: Paul Hollywood would be impressed with the wiggle on that custard which was baked inside a pumpkin IN THE COALS OF A FIRE. 🥇🏆🎉
Thank you so much! Happy Thanksgiving!
@@frontierpatriot The Happiest Thanksgiving to both of you and your families as well.🥧
That's 400+ years of pumpkin pie! What a delicious time! 😋
Yes it was!
The look on Justine’s face when Arthur enjoyed the second pie is priceless. Such wholesome enjoyable content. Love it. Happy Thanksgiving!🍁🦃🍽
I love this! You guys should present at schools! Great stuff.
That is a great idea!
Unfortunately, schools would just make it about hate and victimhood
Thank you Ron and Justine. Loved seeing the various receipts and methods. My recipe is from the 1880s Scotland. My great-grandma passed it down to my grandma in Canada and then to my dad. I've never seen anybody make it the way we do. The eggs are separated. The yolks go in with the wet ingredients. The dry ingredients go into the wet ingredients. The egg whites are beaten until stiff peaks form and then gently folded into the wet mixture. It makes for a light fluffy pie rather than a dense one.
My mother in law makes it like this too. My absolute favorite version of pumpkin pie!
@@missybrenner478 Me too! 🤗
We call that pumpkin chiffon pie.
Make sure all of you viewers eat before watching this video, so you won't have to jump up and run out for a pie at the supermarket.
Lol. That was exactly what was on my mind.
Ron: Explaining the date set for Thanksgiving. Justine: Got pie on her fork and just wants to eat it but waiting patiently for Ron to finish. 🤣
Love you guys, Happy Thanksgiving from Massachusetts.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving Janet from Massachusetts.
My husband makes pumpkin custard pies on Thanksgiving an Christmas. It is my mother in law recipes. She use to make the pies every yr when she was alive along with rum balls an fudge which were really good...
This was so much fun to watch. Arthur has a voice that would do well on television or radio.
yall hilarious! Arthur is quite the handsome man and gratitude to transporting us back in time!
May you all and your family members have a lovely feast this year... it's been a hard one for all of us. No matter what is on the table let's be truly Thankful. God bless us everyone!☺️🦃🥧🥧
Amen!❤
I currently grow Seminole and Cherokee Tan pumpkins - Small and tasty, and they store well. I like to fill them with a custard mixture with raisins and apples. Glad you are giving the chickens the pumpkin seeds - they will usually eat any part of the pumpkin that you give them, but the seeds are a natural de-wormer!
So much fun watching tonight. My cousin makes a venison stew inside of a whole pumpkin, best thing I’ve ever eaten. I’m not a pumpkin pie eater at all.
Sounds great!!!
My sister in law is going to be making A pie from 1600s too for Thanksgiving! I hope it is similar to the one Justine is making!!!! See ya later tonight!2❤❤❤🦃
Ooo that's exciting I wonder what she's putting in it.
Maybe you can show her this video.
They all looked quite good ,top marks.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving over there at Frontier Patriot: Ron, Justine, Arthur, Ron's dad, Kandye and her hubby too. (And all the family that we haven't seen on screen too: Happy Thanksgiving!!!!)
Thankyou Tracy, we hope the same for you and your family!
I really like Ron’s idea of filling the pumpkin with a regular pie filling. Still gluten free and face it, very impressive. 🎃
Fascinating Thanksgiving history and variety of pies 🥧.
Happy Thanksgiving! This is actually a compliment, Ron fits in his clothes - if I ate as much as him? It wouldn't work out so well.
Same to you!
I truly enjoyed this Thanksgiving episode. It was informative, interesting and I really love viewing the comparison of the pumpkin pie through history from yesteryear to present. I wish you both a blessed and happy Thanksgiving. Tomorrow , I will include you amongst my many blessings. With gratitude for creating this channel. 🍁🥧🥧🥧🍁
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy Thanksgiving!
This is super cool. I’m fascinated with 19th and 18th century cooking.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for the history and for not adding background music to your cooking videos!
Wishing you both a happy and blessed Thanksgiving. Thank you for all the entertainment and knowledge you share with us, we appreciate your hard work and authenticity.
Nice food. Really look delicious 🤤.
The other day when Justine mentioned a possible "Special Guest" to sorta be like a Judge when It comes to the Punkin' Pies, and she was showing some wariness about it, all I could think of was Jon Townsend (who Justine hinted uses way too MUCH Nutmeg for everything) is gonna' be that "Special Guest" and if he is Justine had better have at least a Half-dozen Nutmegs available for seasoning her Punkin' Pie! 😆
It's not Jon Townsends
@@EarlyAmerican LOL! I saw the "Taste Test" last night on Frontier Patriot... You were too TERRIFIED to have Jon Townsend as your Taster, weren't you, Justine?!? 😆
I thought maybe Max Miller from Tasting History
I absolutely enjoy how you describe the recipes and history behind them. Justine you are a great teacher I thank you and Ron for your channel. Sweetest couple ever ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! Happy Thanksgiving!
What a wonderful and fun video thanks for sharing and have a good Thanksgiving.
With all the bad in our world at this present time, this video was pure joy and pleasant to watch. Thank you.
Great show couldn’t stop laughing.
Lovely video for the Holidays...the vibe of the cabin is beautiful, cooking history, homemade pie
Oh man I had been late coming onto the live but rewatched the video now and it was great. I can't believe I was right. I had guessed the landlord in the other video as your special guest. That was fun and the pies looked real good, especially Justine's. I liked the crust on top. The earliest one in the pumpkin was so interesting. Ron good job on yours too. Congrats to Arthur for guessing them all correctly and to you guys for getting a cheaper rent 🤗😂 Happy Thanksgiving all and very thankful for your fun positive videos. 🦃🍁🥧🍂 They keep me smiling.
Enjoying Frontier Patriot and Early American! Please make more Chew and Chat, and more drama series!
In Plymouth Massachusetts today the recreated pilgrim village had a period reinactor bake a pompion pie the old way when we visited there a few years ago. Many New England recipes have been passed down through families for generations.
This was fun to watch.
Ron you are a man after my own heart. I put all four of those spices in my pumpkin pies
Thank you for this special treat!
Happy Thanksgiving, God Bless you both🥧🥰♥️
Our pleasure!Happy Thanksgiving!
Hoping you kids have a Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
I hope so too!Happy Thanksgiving!
That was a funny pie contest......I don't like pumpkin anything but they did look good
I have watched every single episode on both of your channels. You feel like old friends. Happy Thanksgiving ! The best to you always❤️
My personal favorite pumpkin pie recipe comes from "The King's Bread, 2nd Rising - Cooking at (Ft.) Niagara 17-26-1815. As to the 1620 version, this was a technique used by the Native Americans, and many NE Cultures would scoop out the cooked pumpkin and add maple sugar, some kind of animal fat, and even broiled deer or other meat. Thanks for all you do and Happy Thanksgiving!
hmmm thats very interesting, fat was probably suet, that in alot of meat pies and some fruit pies. Happy Thanksgiving!
That’s who I thought was coming
I love both of your channels so much! It's refreshing to see how simplistic we used to live. Thank you guys!
For the first time I made a sweet potato pie, all from scratch! Boy was it good! Great Pumpkin pie show!!
This was great!!! Thank you Justine, Ron and Arthur!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!🎃🦃
Same to you!
Happy & Blessed Thanksgiving, y’all.
Everyone was getting along nicely then Justine mentions poison 😂😂 xx
That's how I usually ruin a party
@@EarlyAmerican lol yes it clearly shows
I have never seen pumpkin puree in the store that was mostly carrot and sweet potato? Love pumpkin pie and to see how such a timeless recipe has evolved. I'm so ready for fall to come again!
A Happy Thanksgiving Ron and Justine!
For Ron's formidable flatulence, try looking into papaya enzyme. It saved my nights, since my husband also has this issue.
Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃
Thank you so much! Happy Thanksgiving!
Im wondering if the custard one would've been more palatable if it was served chilled. I've discovered not only is it far easier to cut the pumpkin in half, take out seeds & roast, but it gives it an added carmelized flavor & dries the pumpkin a bit more. But that second pie looked acceptional. Im so impressed with how well they all turned out baking the old way.
Greetings from the Netherlands! I just found your channel, and I'm so happy about it! This video is amazing ❤
Thank you so much!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all 3 of you and your families. Great show.
Thank you so much! Happy Thanksgiving!
This was so much fun.. thank you! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
You guys are so adorable thank you
Happy Thanksgiving everyone love from Canada 🇨🇦
Hahahaha!!! I love you guys-this was so much fun :)))
I'll have to share this with my sister-in-law. She always makes pumpkin soup for the family in little pumpkins like this! How neat! By the way, as a history teacher and someone who loves cooking, I so enjoy y'all's channel. Keep up the amazing work!!!
thankyou for watching, sharing and your kind compliments! :)
Awesome. Love you guys. Love your guest. 35 cent rent wish I had it. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks so much!Happy Thanksgiving!
A delightful episode 👏
I like the guy that plays your land lord. He is cool.
Happy Thanksgiving !!! 🦃🦃🦃
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for showing us the three versions of Pumpkin Pie from different times. Happy Thanksgiving to both of you.
Justine, as an amateur historian who visited Plymouth and the Mayflower replica a week ago, I'm totally impressed by your detective instincts and reasonable conclusions about the Pilgrims' pumpkin pie! Love it--great job!! :-)
Happy Thanksgiving Justine and Ron!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving Ron & Justine!!!!! I'll take a slice of the 1798 pie please....
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thankful for your channels!
we are as well! Happy Thanksgiving!
Interesting three pumpkin pies in one day but I think I would eat the first one first
The comparisons were very interesting! Ron looked so handsome in his red vest and cravat, and Justine beautiful in her dress and white shawl. The second pumpkin pie was amazing, thou I love that Ron had eyeball daring when he made his pie. It doesn't seem farfetched that the pilgrims could have roasted a pumpkin in the ashes until tender, then mashed and added the other ingredients and poured it in a pumpkin bowl. But, I can see where just pouring the custard in the pumpkin, and letting the inside cook intact to eat with the filling would be more convenient. Very nice job on all the pies and I too thought that Townsend was going to be your guest. It was fun seeing Arthur in a friendlier light and I do hope he lowered your rent. Love everything you do as it is always done so well. Happy Thanksgiving Blessings!
Happy Thanksgiving 😊
Very nice and yes I get to learn what I didn't know about our history thank you so much.
Happy Thanksgiving 😊
From me to you best wishes ✨️ 💛 💕 ❤️ 🙏
Thank you so much! Happy Thanksgiving!
happy thanksgiving !♡
This video was fabulous! I laughed so hard at some of the silliness! ... Those pies were awesome! Love the history that you share on everything you put out. Thanks for sharing. Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful....God Bless y'all!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Happy Thanksgiving!🦃.
Ron, try some Lactaid milk. It will save Justine’s sleep! 💕
Again a wonderful and funny "meet and eat" communication of you.
A great idea is it to go through 400 years of making Pumpkin Pies. I like them very much, but here in Germany most of the Piere not sweet , more salty and spicy and with herbs and sausages or ham.
Thanks for this funny bakery 🧡🧡🧡
Great episode! I was expecting Mr. Townsend as well but having Arthur, minus Stinky, was even better! Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your fans!❤😊
I’m spending thanksgiving alone for the first time this year and your video has brought me so much comfort! Thanks guys ❤
It's October, you're carving pumpkins, and I'm still playing soft Christmas music alongside this video. It's not even period appropriate. It just sooths my soul. Lol
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🥰
I still bake it whole, but I stuff it with the leftovers from a Thanksgiving dinner. I have the whole thing in a slice
Happy thanksgiving to you also.
Thank you so much! Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to sweet people I look forward to your new viseos. I hope you and all your families have a wonderful🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🌺🌺🌺💐💐

I left out the egg. Yes, the above recipe needs 1 egg.
Thank you for the hard work and the information! This was fascinating! Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 (Wish I could have 35 cent rent next month!)
Your video setting is just absolutely beautiful. So inviting and cozy. I love your channel.
This is so much fun but also very informative the pumpkin pie from 1820 I'm sure tasted delicious.
I love you guys! Thank you for such a fun, entertaining episode. ❤️🦃🎃
Ron literally can do it all! It was great seeing Arthur on the video
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. God bless you.
My first time catching your videos. I really enjoyed it and the history lessons
Welcome aboard!
This was great, Thank you Ron, Justine and even the rogue Arthur!
Have a very fun and safe Thanksgiving
Thanks! You too!Happy Thanksgiving!
That was fun. I would like to make the pilgrim pie! And to think my ancestors, Gov. William Brad for and Richard Warren, had the original! I would probably add more modern ingredients though.
Great idea!
I learned a Mayflower boat load of information from this amazing video. Happy Thanksgiving Justine and Ron!
So glad!Thank you so much! Happy Thanksgiving!
Very interesting article
When did ginger arrive in America?
Ginger originated in Maritime Southeast Asia and was likely domesticated first by the Austronesian peoples. It was transported with them throughout the Indo-Pacific during the Austronesian expansion ( c. 5,000 BP), reaching as far as Hawaii.
However, Wild ginger is native to North America, from Manitoba to North Carolina. A low growing plant that slowly spreads as a ground-cover, it is hardy to zones 4-9. The leaves are rough, about six inches wide, and in the shape of hearts.
Get that rent down! Happy Thanksgiving yall!!
I just got around to watching this awesome video!
I have to say, the two of you teach me so much and you also make me laugh!
10 minutes into this video when your hair grew quite a bit Justine! :)
Your wreath is beautiful and also looked wonderful upon your head.
I absolutely, love you guys and watch you as much as I can with the two toddlers I have running around. Lol
I tell everyone I know about both your channels!
Love you!! Stay true!!
Loved this! and will def be making the winning pie! Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for all you do!
I was waiting for Justine to slap her knee when the guest was so thrilled with the 'honey' pie! The look on her face was priceless..
