Justine: " I finally decided I wanted to adopt this cat." It sounds like the cat made that decision and adopted you. 🐈⬛
Yep they do that🐈🐈⬛🐈🐈⬛
So nice about adopting the cat. This world needs more kindness.
This definitely is a Chew n' Chat... Justine chats and Ron chews. 😂
Just learned we could chat live! BTW...as a high school history teacher, I love this channel and so do my students. The knowledge you keep alive is wonderful.
What a good idea to teach using this! This next generation is in desperate need of truth💖
That is great.
I would have been so happy if my history teacher had us watch this in class. It wouldn’t be possible given I am the exact same age as Justine though lol. You’re a great teacher! Keep up the good work.
Nothing better than good food, good vibes and good conversations with Ron and Justine +their new cat 🐈⬛
Hi Justine and Ron!
Cranberry Recipe (Receipt) - 1 cup of cranberries, 1 cup of raspberries and 1 cup of applesauce. Simmer on stove and stir occasionally for 1 hour. Use as holiday cranberry sauce, left over turkey sandwiches or just on toast. Low in sugar and hi in vitamins and antioxidants. Enjoy!
Cats that are abandoned are comfortable with people, love being held, and knows a cat box. She was definitely dropped off. It is very common and she was looking for her new fur parents.
That is one lucky little cat to find such a loving and caring home and two wonderful human pets like you two.
Thank you guys for adopting that beautiful little cat ! Someone probably dumped her at the farm or field . You are so kind Justine you saved a little life ❤️🙏
The reason pecans are by the water and in random spots is because of native Americans. Native Indians were forced to leave their homes for many many decades. Every time they were forced to move, they planted pecan trees. They were forced to keep going south as settlers took up the north part of the Mississippi River. The word pecan is a Native American word. And it was a staple in their diet in the winter months. A great book is called Braiding Sweetgrass which talks about this among other topics. Great video! Love you guys. I just moved to Iowa, I’m a homeschooling mom and small business owner that I run from home. Watching you guys feels like being with friends which I don’t have many and none where I live. Happy holidays! Beautiful tree!!
1970S IN NEW YORK WAS AWESOME TIME FOR CHRISTMAS NO CELL PHONES NO SOCIAL MEDIA NO TOXIC NEWS ON TV...GOOD HARD WORKING PEOPLE AND FAMILY BUISNESSES
The cat knew that she needed human intervention to help her survive so she was endearing herself to anyone that would take notice. She's a smart cat. She chose you two. She is the best behaved cat I have ever seen. Mish Mish and you two hit the jack pot finding each other. I didn't know you had the hulk in the house to crack the nuts for you. Thank you for the fascinating history of Christmas in America.
what can I say, Love Your Channel and from the owner of many rescued animals and owner of 3 cats, thank you for saving her. One of my prayers at night is that more people soften their hearts and save an animal. I love both of your channels and am hoping to try some of your receipts Your cabin is beautiful
I have a rescue kity this year....a grey tabby, male....he is a wondrful pet.
Thank you for being a good person and saving the cat!
You too are too funny! I hope you find someone nice for Michael. ❤
Justine, your research and knowledge is so in depth! As a Canadian, I am actually really drawn to American history, I am a bit of a WW2 nut and love military history but also learning about how our ancestors made it through day by day. I have to thank you for all your research and sharing it! Very grateful!
Ron's face when Justine casually explains how she ate cyanide 🤣
I think my favorite was Justine’s face when Ron cracked the nut. It was as if he won the world’s strongest man contest. 😂 I just adore them!
I love your kitty. She is beautiful…thank you for saving her life!
She reminds me of the black cat Luna I got in high school. She was abandoned a month or two before by the previous owners of the house we moved into. We found her and her litter of kittens. She lived a long life.
Such a fascinating history of Christmas. You are a wonderful teacher, Justine.
Thank you Martlin
Thank you for telling us the story of Christmas in the US during those times.
I didn’t know Christmas was banned in Massachusetts.
Also, thank you for showing us your beautiful kitty (Her Royal Highness Princess) Mish Mish III. I also have a black kitty. Her name is Klunk. (I got the name from a well-known comic book that started in 1984).
Thought tonight was so informative. My Mothers family is from Pennsylvania and German would not show decorated tree until Christmas morning. Kept it locked up in the parlor until then!!
You guys are too cute!!! Matchmaking!! Mike's gonna flip.
We had a black farm cat adopt us. She just showed up on our deck a couple of times and the second time it was really cold out, so we took her in and that was it. She was a great cat!
This world needs more Rons!! I wish my daughter could find someone like Ron or Michael. #Truth.
Rescue cats are the best. We had a black cat that we rescued. Such lovers.
We have 3 cats & they become festive under the tree. They’ll chew it, bat down the ornaments, sleep, & romp & roll around to playfully fight with each other all under the Christmas tree. We love you guys.
Thank you for your kindness. I wish there were more that love animals and would save them from the elements, abuse and a horrible and short life.
Stay well and God bless you.
Mike and Geoff seem like great catches! I can’t wait to for the update about the lucky ladies who end up with them! My husband and I are 21 years in and counting, I hope for everyone to find their great love ❤️
We celebrate 55years this August, I was 16 husband 19 when we married.
Our first child was born 4years later after I finished my first degree ( husband gained his year before)
I'll be Michaels date. I can even make my own period dress. I'm actually very into early American history and period clothes. I am 37.
YOU TWO ARE ADORABLE ☺️ SO SWEET TRYING TO MATCH MAKE FOR YOR FRIENDS BECAUSE YOU WISH FOR THEM SAME HAPPINESS YOU BOTH HAVE ❤
TRUE FRIENDS COMPLIMENT EFFORTLESSLY 🥰
As always, great and informative video, Justine and Ron! I'm from PA. My ancestry, maternal and paternal, is Italian. Christmas is more commercialized than ever and the real meaning of it has gotten lost in the shuffle with many folks. And it has not been proven that Jesus was born in December, but the fact is He was born. In either case, citing the film, A Christmas Carol (Dickens), 1951 version, starring Alastair Sim. the Spirit of Christmas Present said, ...'We should observe Christ 365 days of the year, not just one day!' Alastair Sim played Scrooge, and, in my opinion, no one has ever topped his performance. This version happens to be my all-time favorite! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Ron and to the kitty!
Most historians believe evidence points to Jesus being born in the spring. I forget the exact reason, but it has to do with where it was described the stars were positioned in the sky that night. I’m Catholic, and our priests say they know Jesus wasn’t born on Christmas, but it’s just really great to have a date the entire world celebrates His birth. I couldn’t agree more with that and the line from the Christmas Carol you quoted. God bless you. ❤
Always wonderful to see a Cat get a loving home with loyal servants !
There was an English history program it is a few years old but you can find it on UA-cam . Anyway Three historians ran a Tudor period farm for six months . They didn't use a Christmas Tree instead they tied pine boughs together and hung them from the ceiling . They didn't decorate it just hung it . The British do a real good job with history programs
I saw that ‼️
Bummer ! I have be somewhere at 7. I'll watch later though. You two are the best. Love the tree and the cat . Can't wait to visit st Gen.
"...if you want your very own Ron". Lol, hilarious.
I love your tree and your sweet kitty. I also love your cookie cutters, I love collecting mine at antique shops 🥰
Your cat is so cute and so sweet I have a black cat too and he is so well mannered and he's wonderful a wonderful addition enjoy your kitty
Good luck with your matchmaking! Please let us know how it goes. Thanks for the Christmas info as well, that sounds like you put a lot of research effort in. Also crongats on your cat! Pets make a house a home.
You two re so cute! So down-to-earth and easy to listen to. I love the historical, simple living you're sharing.
I absolutely love you guys history lessons. Your videos are such a variety of topics. Makes your videos really interesting. Thankyou for everything you give to people. I hope much of the younger people watch your videos too. They could learn so much.
She's so thankful to you for rescuing her🙂💞🎄🎁💫
I love learning something new every day…You two are such a joy to watch and learn from. Your rescued kitty is adorable. Merry Christmas!
Another great Video . Where I live in South Jersey near the Pine Barrens we still have huge Cranberry bogs . I think at one time Jersey was one of the largest producers of Cranberries in the country . The Cabin looks great . I really dug the tree stand . Good for you taking the Cat in . My two dogs and my cat are all rescues
What a sweet family you make. Ron, Justine and MishMish. I needed to smile and you made me smile. Bless you and have a very Merry Christmas.
I just saw this just now. I must say that I am Jewish and the whole matchmaking thing was in our history lol. You made me laugh out loud Also the thing about the fasting about the sins almost reminds me of Yom Kippur our day of atonement 😂
God bless you and keep you Ron and Justine!!!! Love your channels watch them religiously y'all are so down to earth and yall's videos are heart warming !❤️ Mish Mish is beautiful so glad y'all found each other! Just a friendly thought if you didn't know Pine tree water is TOXIC to kitties 🙀 HAPPY HOLIDAYS
As kids in the 50s /60s we used an old flat iron to crack Christmas nuts ....walnuts ...we used 2 in our hands like Ron xx
I love that you saved this sweet cat. Great time with you both, it’s always fun at your chew and chats.
We have 10 cats, my daughter and I. They are all hers and I love them all. We live in Pennsylvania. The old part of my house was built in the year 1900. The addition in the 1970s. The older part of the house is better, believe it or not. I love your channels and your content. May the Lord bless you and keep you always.
The cat sounds like it really liked the puzzle boxes you made for it. Lucky for you to be loved by a cat.
I can't wait to see your video later today an your new addition as well...
Very well done. In some ways I feel like I'm sitting there at the table with two friends enjoying a Christmas history lesson.
Michael sounds like my kind of man. I love cats and history. I like victorian then modern.
LOL at rons pouty face when breaking the heart shaped gingerbread in half
You want to boil acorns, it takes out the tannins. Aww bless you for taking in the baby! We always just hold our rescues on out laps😊
From the sunny winter scene with the parade drummers to your goodbye, you've brought some cheer into a chilly dark Vermont evening! I'm so glad for you and your little adoptee. Mish Mish III is so pretty! I'll bet she'll be a great mouser. I know she'll gratefully love you both for the rest of her life. Justine, you are great at teaching history! I always learn something new from you and Ron.
ah how wonderful yall adopted that pretty kitty....shes loving with you cause she can tell your kind..and she needed a home and food and warmth...how wonderful...hope to see her in more videos...your tree is great..

Thanks for the entertainment, history and education.
This episode was so informative. Just love this channel. I admire the green clear glass pitcher. I wish I can purchase one. Love you guys! 🌲🌲
Really enjoyed learning about the history of Christmas. The cabin looks beautiful decorated 🌞
I just discovered your channels and I'M IN LOVE. It's cool to be introduced to American history like this. 💛
I love that you adopted that precious kitty. Lucky Mish Mish... Merry Christmas to all three of you. ..
We got adopted last year a month after she had babies in my closet she’s a sweetheart of a cat vet said she was a first time mom kept her and her babies all fixed and shots love my fur babies ❤
I think you’re house is decorated so beautiful and cozy! Justine you have such a heart of gold. Thankyou for sharing about Christmas, you and Ron, and kitty makes 3. Purrrfect! Little family! Merry Christmas you guys ❤
Thank you! You too!
Wonderful video. It was so nice to hear the great tale of Christmas, Justine told. Mish Mish is adorable. I also have a rescue black cat, and they thank u everyday that u rescued them.
The parade looks to be alot of fun, y'all have the best events in your little town. Poor little Mishmish, she's a beautiful kitty. Love your tree too, its very interesting how Christmas tree decorations have changed over the centuries. We had glass ball ornaments back when I was growing up, they were beautiful but very fragile and we also popped popcorn and strung it into a garland, alot of fun for us youngins 🎄🎄🌲🌲🎅🎅🤶🤶
She found a forever home ❤. Many blessings on her for a good and healthy life.
My wife and I have recently found you channel. We enjoy watching the shows. You kids ( yep, we’re old) are taking our tradition, history and values and bringing them forward. Much of so called Americans want to bury or history. Just wanted to say thank you for forging ahead. Cook on! PS…Ron, slow down eating, you’re going to choke!
LOVED the History 👍 Thank you! White Pine Needles make a very healthy Tea. 💓
We adopted two adorable kitties last year. They are litter mates but very different! We just love them!
You guys are amazing! 1700's, 1800's - and 2022!
We always got nuts, oranges and chocolate in our stockings...always had nuts for cracking, hard candies, figs and dates on the coffee table... traditions!
Cook the acorns, Ron! Its the tannins. You have to boil them then dry then ground to flour for pancakes, cupcakes, etc.
Hi Justine and hubby, I love your show. Than You. Irish smiles.
You had strung up dried oranges for decoration. I did the same because of ye.
You guys are the best. Love and hugs, Tina, Margaret & John
Thankyou so much!
Thank you so much for all the great information! It was so interesting. Part of my job is to send out a daily email to the management and I love to include a fun fact or piece of history. I’m definitely going to use this information!
I love watching you guys when I have a stressful day I watch your cooking videos and its relaxing and soothing....
I love the hog decorations on your tree.🐖
Just fantastic information thanks
Acorns are high in tannins and very bitter, but you can crack the shell and separate the nut, then grind it up, and soak it in several changes of water to remove the tannins, after that you can roast or cook it, and it's very good to eat.
We have Pecan and Almond Groves here in Arizona. I love gingerbread ornaments!
Loved this episode 🎄❤️
Thank you for researching the history of Christmas
Your channel is my new favorite
Season Greetings to both of you
From : Bowling Green , KY
Thank you for the extensive historical research on Christmas. Very interesting!
I work in homes built in 1814 and 1818 for a historical society in Ohio. We can cheat on more lavish Christmas decorations a little as a late 1800s addition was added to one home. Your videos are so entertaining, educational and helpful to me. Thank you!
-Oh! And congrats on the kitty!
Being from Massachusetts and living there almost my whole life I never heard about Christmas being illegal, I just learned something new today.
Oh my goodness you both are such a good people to have a big heart💕💕💕💕
I love you guys and your channel by the way. You guys are sunshine in this world.
Love the kitty 🐈⬛! Adopting a stray is quite up there, in my books, as to what a person is about. That says everything to me, of a persons character! 🙏❤️🌿💚 Wonderful video, y'all!
This was a wonderful video and it has given me a ton of ideas for new Christmas traditions that will delight my sons!
Love your new family member! Mish Mish is beautiful and smart to have picked you both. ❤️🐾 Enjoy all the history lessons.
Yall saved that kitty and gave it THE BEST LIFE EVER. My cat is an inside outside cat, and she doesn't use a litter box unless it's storming outside. She meows to go out lol. I'm sure you could train that cat to prefer outside pooping over inside pooping.
mish mish does the same thing, he goes outside
@@frontierpatriot That's so cool! Cats are such clean animals.
Congratulations on getting your kitty 😻
I’m so glad you all gave the cat a good home! She is very lucky to have you both! ❤️
I saved my cat, he bites a lot. He just turned one.
I will take the older guy!
I am a costume designer, so I do like research on historical accuracy.
I love to cook and bake. lol 😄
I absolutely enjoyed your video it was so educational. My gosh I'm almost 80 and learned so much more from this video today
Excellent history lesson. Love it
Love the cabin decorations. MishMish is adorable. I am so glad you have made her part of your family. Jeff sounds very nice and loving cats is a plus. I have 3 lol. To bad I have knee replacement surgery the week before!

Dad always took us to cut down our Christmas tree...it was a TRADITION...the holiday was meant to celebrate the birth of Christ...the Northern star, the 3 wise men, the gifts they brought...humble...
Years ago, we harvested wild cranberries from a lake, in large quantities, and stored for the year. We ate raw cranberries every day for snacks. Definitely an acquired taste.
You guys are great. Don't change.
Now you have good luck 👍 you have black cat..God bless you all and Keepsafe ❤️
