Before tonight, my favorite CP late night performance was David Letterman Metal Heart. Tonight she sounds amazing and looks happy and healthy.
I’ve listened to her a lot lately going to work. Two things strike me, first is how she has the confidence to take a great song and deliver it in her own style - seriously impressive, and second how her supporting band match her delivery with musicianship beyond words. Anyone can copy a song like the original but the artistry comes when the original is treated reverently and performed with pride. Cat, you’re a great artist and we love you.

I was a bit self conscious when my tears started flowing during her opening song. Then turns out that the guy next to me cried more than I did.

That band is spot on. They evoke the sound and feel of Dylan and his band in 1966, almost like a time-machine.

I haven't listened to any of her Dylan covers from this album yet. Just bought tickets to her Feb show in Nashville yesterday and want to hear them live for the first time. I gladly spent more on the ticket than I ever have before. 2nd row seats. I missed out on seeing Chan a few times before in the 90's. Totally stoked for this!! ❤ Just wanted to share. 🙂

@@scandarella Oh, I know! I have loved her since the mid 90's. I just found out Dylan is doing a southern tour this spring and I am seeing him in Memphis!
My drummer called me a few years ago and asked if I wanted to go see Mumford and sons the next weekend and I didn't know them but said yes if course I'll go, Cat Power opened for them and both bands were amazing

Chan Marshall (Cat Power) I’d never heard of before as I’ve always been living under a rock I learned. During the lockdowns for the “Flu”, had me deep diving into music like I’d never before. Chan was one of many with short interview segments in a documentary I found about Janis Joplin where they showed her in studio recording. So of course I started seeking out what I could find on her. I just love her voice.
Cat Power/Chan Marshall was interviewed in a documentary about Janis Joplin? I didn't know there was a recent doc as such on Janis?

Bob Dylan understood and communicated about the soul of America better than any other artist. Cat Power's album covering Dylans Royal Albert Hall is a beautiful tribute to his poetry and a great cultural and spiritual moment for all of us, just as it was for those attending the original Dylan concert in 1966. What a special and amazing thing to get to listen to within our lifetimes. Its up there with my list of the greatest albums of all time, another being "Garcia Plays Dylan". So amazing to see these great artists covering Dylan later in their careers. As we all get older and wiser we realize how important dylan is to us, to our own souls, and to the soul of the nation. Thank you Chan for this loving tribute - it is a masterpiece.

Cat power is a phenomenal singer, I discovered her from the movie V FOR VENDETTA and after that, became a big fan of her work, and to see this for the first time and how she still rocks is great! 🎊 ❤

Like a Rolling Stone is the most iconic song in rock history ! Prefer Chan's version performed at TS much more than album version. Although, rest of album is superb ! Respect and love for Chan !
I saw Dylan last summer but I'd rather see Cat power; I'll do just that in Paris in April.

Man, I hope they don't cancel the gig she's supposed to be playing in my town at our casino theatre this fall. It's selling like crap, because this is a town full of townies and tourists and we can't have anything nice.
I only like the songs Just a Woman and It's All Over Now ( and they are really really good ) off this release but I never liked Bob Dylan.
Not that it matters as I wouldn't recognize a Dylan song if someone was covering it.
The more important thing is you can tell she is clean and sober by this ( or during this ) performance .
I would assume she came to the realization that she has a child now that she needs to support and take care of.
When I saw her on the Covers tour it was the 3rd time seeing her over the years and I told myself it was my last .
Singing the songs out of key. Rarely would a song sound like the record . Hiding on stage in the dark. Rambling on incoherently .
A lot of people walked out . The only tour that was ok was Sun and even that was hit and miss during the show.
Don't know if I will take a chance again live but love her work and especially her interpretations of other artist songs.
Her voice is my favorite of any female artist.
Jukebox was easily my favorite release by her.

Seen Chan so many times live. As much as I love Dylan, this song doesn't suit her. The rest of the Albert Hall album is *much* better than this
agreed. this was probably my least favorite track on the album...but also probably the most well known of the songs (from the electric half), so I get why it was chosen BUT i think it was the weakest of the album. There are some fantastic songs they could've gone with instead.

Weird to have a fairly straight backing cover but an idiosyncratic vocal performance. I'd prefer a backing which suited the vocal more as I think my brain is expecting to hear the album vocal take when the music is basically straight from the album.
band sounds great but there was 0 need for this cover.. extremely uninspired. just flat
She's a legend but her voice doesn't really lend itself to this song. Good band though.
