My choir did this. It was breathtaking. I'm a soprano 1, and it made all of us cry. If you do this right, you will be emotionally exhausted after delivering the power in this song. It's heart wrenching, the gorgeous story, I believe from the story of Ruth in the Bible. Her whole family dies, and you put yourself through that in this song. Even in my high school choir, we're all 16, 17, 18, and we were crying.
Many people don't know the story. Its very touching and the way this piece was performed embodied the biblical story of RUTH! So amazingly beautiful and moving! God bless you all !
Words can't explain how truly beautiful this piece is and to even sing it is a blessing. The power and story of Ruth is just shining through this song. Amazing job Salt Lake Vocal Artist!
My first Choir teacher is in this choir. She was able to have the dedication, dedicated in honor of her marriage. This song carries a lot of power to everyone who knows her.
We are performing this piece next weekend. I'm using this video for home rehearsal. A beautiful piece indeed. Can't wait to hear more from Dan Forrest!
Dan Forrest - 'Requiem For The Living' A beautiful piece written in 2014 I believe. A mass choir will be performing in Paris for 75th anniversary of D-Day. Dan Forrest is young and one of my favorite composers. We will be singing two of his anthems for Easter Service as well.
Wonderful singing... it sounds a lot like many other pieces this choir have sung before such as by Eric Whitacre with those (dare I say over used?) close harmonies, dramatic pauses etc.
yeah, this is very whitacre-esque and whitacre is overused... but as a choir director.. nothing unlocks the potential of a group like a whitacre piece. that being said, whitacre music is shamelessly overused.
Christopher Jordan Brown there’s a reason Whitacre’s style is “overused.” That is the trademark style of modern music. And it never fails to send chills down my spine. So yeah it’s everywhere nowadays but that’s ok because it elevates choral music to a new level
This is probably of one the most beautiful choral piece of Dan Forest ever written .. Performed amazingly by SLCA and Dr. Brady Allred
