Some moms on this show are soooooo selfish... they already had their day. Like get over it! Let your daughters pick their own dresses. Mom is happier than the bride...
Don't get me wrong the dress is really pretty but the shape of the skirt is off. It looks like theres a cage underneath that only goes halfway down, and the skirt isn't able to keep it's shape so it becomes kinda square. Whatever, she looks stunning!
Yes! I saw that strange lump on her hip area.. What is that?? The bottom of the dress is awkward shape. The top of the dress did look really pretty on her with her beautiful skin and lovely curves, I think the new one was more flattering though, and a little more classic looking.
Cyphruzzz I noticed that too, and it kinda seems to be a theme with that alterations chick. Some of the other dresses she's remade have the same issue with the skirts not having a natural flow to them.
@@cocoagirl7921 i think it might be because the dresses aren't completly finished. Like it takes a lot of work to re-do those dresses so maybe for the sake of filming schedule she doesn't have the time to fit them perfectly, but if the brides to be choses the something borrowed they fit it and maybe do some more alteration.
As a mom I do understand the emotional and sentimental ties that you have to your dress and then to see your daughter wear that dress it's just an all-encompassing feeling of completion and love. But at the same time I didn't choose my mother's dress I chose my own. And I will be very happy to go with my daughter and let her pick out her own dress
I really wish she would have chose the new dress... the top of the borrowed dress was stunning but the bottom was all wrong. But in the end, this girl is gorgeous and can work either dress! I just hope she’s happy
The two comments of, “I just want her to be happy”, and the “I would be disappointed” in reference to her daughter not wearing the borrowed dress don’t match. The word disappointed is a lot more loaded than ppl think and I think it influenced the bride’s decision.
Honestly, that is so selfish on the mom's part. She got to wear a dress at her wedding that she loved and she wanted but she's denying her daughter that joy because she wants to be happy. It would be different if the daughter originally wanted this on her own terms. And adding insult to injury - the new dress was so much prettier!
That new dress was timeless.. such a perfect neckline/bodice, sweet and timeless and perfect amount of delicate detail and gorgeous silhouette with the skit..
I really don't like this show. I feel like the mothers are so selfish by imposing their dress onto their daughters. They had their wedding day and chose the dress for them. They should let their daughters do the same thing without putting such a burden on their decision. If the mothers LOVE their dresses so much, they should keep them and use it to renew their vows instead of hoisting them onto their daughters.
I never heard of this show until recently and neither had my daughter, but 7 years ago she asked me if she could wear my dress and then asked if we could take the sleeves off...we totally redesigned my dress for her ourselves. Making the first cut was hard for me, because my mother and I made it together and she had just passed but it really became my daughter's dress and we made memories creating it. Her older sister had tried it on, but decided on a new dress. My younger daughter had decided then at 13 she wanted to someday wear Mom's dress-- however-- like these, no one would guess it was the same dress.
I don't like how the moms are being selfish, but I do love the idea of taking old outdated family heirlooms and revamping them into beautiful new dresses. I can relate as someone who actually wanted to wear my mom's wedding dress but she won't let me.
The mom pressured her. Saying she would be "disappointed" if she didnt chose her dress. Had the mom said what she said after to the bride the " chose the dress for her not for me" than perhaps the bride would have chosen the new one.
The flowers on the new borrowed dress looks weird. They don't look like flowers more like tissues clumped togather. Other than that the overall dress is pretty.
Wow! The wedding dress was so beautiful after it was recreated. Her sister was so sweet and I feel my tears fall down after she told her sister that she will still be there for her regardless of what dress she chooses.
I really don't understand why mothers are expecting their daughters to choose their some decades old fashioned modified wedding dress which is beyond recognition... let the daughters choose their own wedding dress as per new trend & their own choice!
Some of the daughters on this show do choose the remade dresses though, like this one here, because they do make them into gorgeous new dresses. I personally relate to it because I WANT to wear my mom's wedding dress but she won't let me.
This show always makes me so sad, it feels like the mom always pressured the daughter and sends her on the biggest guilt trip. Theres sp much pressure on their shoulders
It kills me when some of the brides of this show choose a dress from guilt and wear guilt and regret down the aisle, rather than her own dreams. I'm totally for sentiments. I'll be using my Mom's cake cutter and server from 50 years ago and also convert her veil into something new....but I'm doing it because I want to, not because I feel like I have to. Sad for these brides. :(
Exactly. If you are going to wear “Mom’s dress,” then do alterations, and tweak it some, but keep it Mom’s dress. Tearing apart mom’s dress and using the materials to make a NEW dress is different story. I would like this show better if they showed some respect for the vintage dresses.
these borrowed dresses never resemble the dress that the mother or grandmother hands over, not even close, however, the designer usually takes an old out of fashion dress and makes a hideous new dress, and this is absolutely no exception
I have a hard time with this show because I cant imagine cutting up my moms wedding dress and not wearing it. It's also hard because if the daughter does fall in love with the new dress it would be hard not to feel guilty...
Hell no...she looks like a toilet roll doll the new one was way more elegant & in 20yrs time would still look like a wedding dress not a dress up dress 😒 but I wish you well, you've obviously got a huge heart 💝
what happens to the dress when they don't pick it? they can still keep it right? so i don't see why they can't wear the new dress to the ceremony and then the borrowed to the reception lol.
When I told my mom that I was getting married she asked me if I wanted to have one of her dresses. And I said heck no to both. The dress she got married to my father in was from the early 80's and it was a winter wedding dress. Too much lace! Her second dress that she got married to my step-dad in was a very subtle pink...and waaaaaay too poofy for my liking. I would never let anyone touch either of those dresses and hack them into pieces. They were both beautiful dresses but neither of them were my style. I went in a complete opposite direction and my wedding dress was rose gold and a soft aqua with an illusion back and beading throughout the bodice. Love the choice I made.
My daughter wore my wedding dress n her hubby wore her father's. Just for the pic. And the pic was put as a wedding welcoming pic on the bunting at the entrance of the reception hall. To me that is already great. She get to wear her own dress n gown. 4 to be exact. Solemnization. 2 during reception i.e. traditional attire n wedding gown. And 1 during her husband s side reception.
Why didn't they put tulle under the skirt of the remade dress, it would have made it look 100 better. That being said, this is the 1st time the dress they made from mom's dress is better looking than the original design.
🤦♀️ Mom’s dress just didn’t flatter her figure. The skirt looked waaay too boxy and there was no movement. The dress she fell in love with would have been a little flattering. I hope she won’t be disappointed after seeing the wedding photos. What a shame that the mother was giving her daughter an unbelievable guilt trip! Mom loved HER wedding dress because it made her feel beautiful and confident and it held significant meaning for her. It’s a shame that she didn’t allow her daughter the same joy and excitement about finding HER special dress. Mom picked her dress, but her daughter wasn’t given that joy. How about loving ANY dress she tries on that gives her that special feeling. I can not believe she said she would be disappointed and her feelings would be deeply hurt if she didn’t choose her wedding dress. Guilting someone out of THEIR choice is just wrong wrong wrong! Shame on you mom for not letting her pick her OWN dress.
I really just want her to pick the dress she really wants. As long as its mine... Ugh veryvselfish mom. She asked her moms permission to pick the dress she really loved... But the Mom says "oh I would be so dissapointed "
The skirt is so round it needs to go more A line like the other new dress. Other than this it is beautiful. Another thing I want to say that i would give away anything to see my mom with me happy in my wedding, she passed away two weeks ago from brain cancer.
As a mom of 2 daughters, I wouldn't even put my daughter into such a situation where she has to chose and I am sitting there showing her how disappointed I'd be if she chose her dream dress... and not mine??! For all moms and those who say nice she chose her mom's dress... we (moms) had our day, we had it the way we wanted it... we chose OUR dream dress... if you're unable to view your daughter as an independent being rather than an extension of you walking down the aisle is extremely selfish and narcissistic to say the least. And to all the daughters out there who are manipulated this way, I say it's good to respect your mom's dream, but don't forget yours, you should be assured that she'll support your happiness and YOUR dream and she'll be happy for you. If she doesn't, well your wedding day is the best way for her to start learning how a good mom should support the happiness of her daughter. that being said, the borrowed dress is freaking ugly. There is something wrong with the way the waist is done and the skirt looks like KG students handcrafts... and the cost is more than a thousand dollars... what's the point? the new dress looked flowing beautifully and the skirt was amazing. I hope this whole thing was staged, and the bride ended up with HER dream dress.
Christ the before is so much more Scarlett Ohara than the after...just put a hoop skirt under it and make the sleeves slimmer. The fabric was perfect. It looked frumpy because it wasn’t fitted.
The new dress was so pretty and she wanted to choose it but instead went for the something borrowed to please her mom. It's unfair to put such responsibility on any bride and to force her to choose something she ultimately doesn't want. These moms do not realize how selfish they are when they manipulate their daughters with "oh if you don't choose mine, I will be disappointed." It's not about you, you had your wedding day already. Your daughter deserves to choose what she loves more.
That's a completely different dress. Aren't they supposed to just tweak the old dress to make it more modern? There's nothing of the old dress in this one.
The thing I've never understood about this show is if the mother is happy to have their dress so drastically changed (often to the point where it is totally unrecognisable from the original) then why wouldn't they be just as happy with their daughter wearing a new dress with a tiny piece of their dress added (e.g. a sash, a flower, a piece of lace etc). The 'borrowed' dress is essentially a new dress (new silhouette, new style, new fabric), for most of them nobody would know it was originally the mother's dress (without being told). To me, you might as well get the dress you want and wear your mother's earrings, braclet, garter, veil...
She should have chosen the new dress, the other went from "hideous" to " a giant pair of ruffled knickers" that added 10lbs to the bride's figure. She doesn't need to emotionally blackmail her daughter into wearing her old dress just so "a part of me will be there with her". She's attending the wedding, 100% of her will be there with her daughter, ffs.
The new dress was more flattering, but the flowers on the borrowed dress made it look more interesting even though there was something awkward about the skirt. For someone to make a decision where she was thinking of others involved and not just herself says a lot about this wonderful young woman. She will look beautiful on her wedding because she will be wearing her beautiful heart.
Exactly. I think they can alter the shape of the skirt on the borrowed dress and then it will be perfect. You can't fix a dress that's just plain, boring, and uninteresting.
Her mom wants to speak to ALL the managers.
Étienne Parent this comment 😂
It's her haircut.
😂😂 Every. 👏 Single. 👏 Last. 👏 One. 👏
I wish I could like this comment more than once. It's the first thing I thought of. 😂

I don't understand some of these mothers. This is your daughter's day, you had yours already, just stop. Let her choose the dress she loves.
Actually, I can't understand how they pick the new dresses. It is so special to wear yoyr Mom's dress.
Nikki Stephens I would have loved that! My parents married @ a courthouse in 1939 wearing street clothes...

I agree with you Jennifer Ramos. Poor girl I think she choose her mom's dress just to please her.
I really wish she would have chose the new dress... the top of the borrowed dress was stunning but the bottom was all wrong. But in the end, this girl is gorgeous and can work either dress! I just hope she’s happy
Agreed

...and something went wrong with the lace on the top. It's not symetric at the decoltee.
Agreed. Didn't like the bottom at all.

Too true
You have very strange taste.
@@nicorizzo5402 But the daughter truly liked the new one. Think about it.

I think she did that to please her mom ..she wanted the new one..
The borrowed dress looks like a tea cozy.
All I could think of was a cupcake.
Yeah probably but to be honest the borrowed dress does look more like a southern belle dress
That new dress was timeless.. such a perfect neckline/bodice, sweet and timeless and perfect amount of delicate detail and gorgeous silhouette with the skit..

The disappointment might be because they would've bjust butchered her dress for nothing.

Also the lace on the neckline is asymmetrical

these borrowed dresses never resemble the dress that the mother or grandmother hands over, not even close, however, the designer usually takes an old out of fashion dress and makes a hideous new dress, and this is absolutely no exception
Hillary Smith "hideous" ahahah dead
Hideous? I think her updates are generally gorgeous! I love this one, although the shape of the skirt needs to be altered.
The something new is so beautiful. The something borrowed definitely shouts southern Bell, and it is pretty, but something is a bit off about it.
Oh....that skirt seems off on the borrowed gown
The remade dress looks pretty ..
... but it doesnt scream wedding to me... It screams Quinceanera/sweet16 ....
Or Nursery Rhyme...Little Bo Peep!
Love the top. The belt is so pretty. I wish the bottom didn't have those details..
I think the details are the best part.
i think this show puts way too much pressure on the bride.... family guilt. ugh.
It was all about pleasing mom, I'm so sorry girl, but the new dress looks better on you. And I believe you know it too.
Um, no. Wrong choice. The bodice on the “borrowed” dress was fine, but that skirt was a hot mess - and its silhouette was wonky and unflattering.
honestly i think both of the dresses were gorgeous
Grandma’s necklace is so beautiful!
Yaaaaaaaaay!! Her borrowed dress is a real show stopper. Totally one of a kind. Definitely a southern belle in that one!!!

Something new is so much prettier
I feel like the flower pattern was way too much.
i like the new one
I like to top but the skirt looks kinda boxy and the flowers kind of look like toilet paper from a distance...
Love this program but what happens to the borrowed dress if the bride to be doesn't choose it? She made a great choice in this one it's stunning
The show keeps it and gives it back a day after the wedding
If she didn’t pick it i would have ran down there and took it myself! 😂❤️

The new dress was so much better and she knew it, she should be happier than anyone else in her big day
What I would like to know is isn't there an episode where they chose both one for the reception and one for the ceremony
what happens to the dress when they don't pick it? they can still keep it right? so i don't see why they can't wear the new dress to the ceremony and then the borrowed to the reception lol.
I feel bad for this young bride who succumbed to pressure from her mother. Her new dress was more flattering and more classic.

What happens when they don’t pick the dress? Does the designer get to retail it?
Yay I'm so glad she picked that one
she totally felt guilted into wearing her moms dress lol
Jensey Mathew I know I would choose something new
Why is it the something borrowed rarely fits as well as the something new? They all need to be better fitted.
Tacky sparkles??? I thought Mum would pick that comment up! The new dress was gorgeous
She made the wrong decision
I love this show! They can transform out-dated wedding dress into something modernly unique and beautiful.
Just take picture wearing the borrowed dress. Give copy to your mother. The new is more clean design. ♥️
Both dresses were beautiful but I preferred the flow of the new dress. The remade dress just needed a little adjusting.

She picked the right one. It was so unique and looked great on her. The other was just typical.
Why mom interfares so much it's ur daughter's day not family heirloom day
Love the old made-over dress. Much prettier and more flattering than the new which was too contemporary.
I really just want her to pick the dress she really wants. As long as its mine... Ugh veryvselfish mom. She asked her moms permission to pick the dress she really loved... But the Mom says "oh I would be so dissapointed "

The borrowed dress is so gorgeous!
Daughter chose her mom's dress because of not having a guilt trip hanging over her! Selfish mother of the bride.
I liked the new dress better...
That is Southern Bell for sure. Pretty. More Bridal. Plantation style.
The borrowed dress is breathtakingly beautiful
I loved the dress... I think they should always just wear both!
The borrow one is more beautiful
