When they "remake" the dress they literally just rip it apart and use parts of it for the new dress. That's as far as remake that they go which is a rip off. 😂
I agree, you can’t lower the hem without making a complete new underskirt. I really like that they took key elements from mums dress without making it dated and I’m glad she went with mums dress
The borrowed dress is beautiful and gorgeous. Mom’s impression was very priceless that her daughter chooses her wedding dress to walk down the aisle. Congratulations.
Kat A unfortunately I did glance down at the comment as it was right at the top,I hate it when people give it away like I that in the comments before I can watch it for myself
Rude but true. Her mom’s dress in its original state looked terrible on her. Completely drowned her and honestly made her look like she should be haunting a place. And I think the mother knows that. She even said that changes should be made to fit her daughter.
I mean everything she said was true. I didn't really think it was that rude, she could've been a little kinder, maybe, but the dress was incredibly ugly and didn't look like a wedding dress.
Totally. Thank god it worked out for the best. My first comment after seeing the beginning which I deleted was about the same thing... imagine if her mom said that about her *wedding* dress. She'd probably throttle her lol.
The tailoring on the borrowed dress is not the best IMO. It looks like there's bulging fabric right under the bust, and there's too much skin showing through the buttons...it looks like they're stretching to get to the buttons. The button loops should be tighter.
The straps on the Borrowed dress were FLAWLESS. I love them so much that if it wasn't theft, and didn't ruin the gown, I would snatch them off her dress and incorporate them into one of my own! I wonder where I can get a hat just like the one her mother wore on her wedding day...
I'm so happy that this mom loved the altered dress! Most of them are upset that their daughter won't look like their little clone walking down the aisle.
The mothers are not upset about them not being a clone or whatever. It's about them ruining a beautiful and unique gown from the past. you don't fix whats not broken.
@Dormouse it's really interesting that we have this preservative attitude towards clothing now. In the past it was completely normal for clothing to be altered and remade constantly.
My dress burned 3 days after our wedding, so my daughter need not to worry. She's 7 and already tells me "we don't have the same style". 😂 I wanted to sell the dress and hold on to my tiara and veil in case she wants something old, but those are gone as well. She might never marry. As long as she's happy I don't give a rat's arse. 🙊
Ouch! I did not like the Mom’s comments. I thought her sentiments put unnecessary pressure on her daughter. The best use of a used wedding dress is to have it sewed into a baby’s’ baptismal gown and blanket. I worked in bridal and this scenario always upset me when the Moms were pushy about it. I do not think it’s fair!
Her mother knows the dress is outdated and probably wouldn’t choose the same herself if she was getting married today. How many times do people look back and think “my God, I actually wore that?”
I must be very old-fashioned, but I don’t think «sexy» is the first word that should pop into your mind when considering a wedding dress. I prefer «classy», «dignified», «memorable» and «unique». I think this bride chose the right dress - it certainly was the more classy of the two.
There's people who think sexy is showing skin, others think sexy is fitted and covered and some think sexy is how you feel. Just cause they say sexy it doesn't 100% mean skanky or showy it's all about how the person feels.
I think I can understand why a women would want to choose a “sexy” dress. Like if in her normal, everyday life she always dressed in something simple, she’d want to shake things up for her big day. I thought her dresses looked fine. They were form fitting, which fit her sexy criteria, but I still found them elegant. They both seemed appropriate for her body shape, and they didn’t look trashy. Like someone mentioned before, I think maybe you’re associating “sexy” with “trashy.” There’s some gorgeous, form fitting, illusion, sheer, etc. wedding dresses out there that would look great on brides and are still modest for the occasion.
The dress she chose doesnt look like a fit and flair, it needs to be tailored to actually fit her figure, it looks like shes wearing a tube and isnt flattering on her
This makes me glad my mother knew early on that it'd mean a lot to her if her future daughter wore her dress, and kept that in mind when picking a dress. It's nice and timeless, and should only need a few small alterations other than for fit, which Mom is okay with. It still may not happen, because our figures are very different... but who knows? Maybe it'll work when the time comes.
The renovations were expertly done, and the improvements were awe-inspiring. I am so relieved that she chose the redone dress. It is much more classy, interesting, and lovely. The sentimentality for me is always the tie breaker.
I dont understand why she didnt buy a new dress cause now it looks nothing like the old one.... ? It's like they bunred the old dress, bought a new one and made the mom believe it's the same gown...
Seriously... Did not at all in anyway looked like the old one. It's more like just add the same fabric and change the look completely lol... It would be better to look for the same fabric as said and then get it stitched n let the old dress be it

Sooo... What do they do when the bride doesn't choose the remake? The designer keeps the dress? They say the bride has to pay $X for it, but like, I feel like they probably just give the dress back to the family anyway. Haha.
A dress doesn't in my opinion make the long lasting marriage. Its the LOVE that the couple has for each other that makes a long lasting marriage. I wore jeans and a long sleeve purple shirt when I got marriage for the 3rd time. And we just celebrated our 10th anniversary last month. So, I just proved my point we're as much in love as the day we said I love you for the first time.
I am tired of brides saying they want to look "sexy" for their wedding. Then they come out wearing low cut dresses with their hooters 90% showing or the dress is way too tight, the slit is cut up so high they look like a stripper or the back is cut all the way down to the top of their bottom. They think they look so good but instead look really cheap. Just buy a dress the flatters your figure and doesn't overexpose and you will look elegant, classy and beautiful.
Yeah those crazy v's that go practically below the bustline ...oh ugh. I wish I could have worn my mom's dress but it got wrecked in a flood that we had so she had to get rid of it and it got discoloured before that but I love the dress that I did find, bought it off a friend for like 150.00 but I do wish I could of had that experience of drying on dresses in a store.
i cannot believe they just destroyed that gorgeous wedding dress, if she had so much resentment towards the appearance of her mother's dress she should have just bought a new one, the "borrowed" dress looks absolutely nothing like the original, it seems a bit unnecessary to destroy a vintage piece of art simply to create a new dress that has absolutely no resemblance to the initial piece, it totally diminishes the sentiment of wearing her mother's dress.
Jenna Marie I think the thing they don’t specifically say here, is that Dad is dying. What Kelly did here, was basically make a new dress from the fabric of Mom’s. It means a lot to mom, to Dad, and to Amy. Mom’s original dress was very, very outdated. Definitely can’t expect Amy to wear the thing in it’s original state. Before they go on this show, Mom agrees that the dress will be dramatically changed, and that her daughter still may not wear it. Once they actually appear on the show, everybody’s on the same page. Amy looks fabulous in the remade dress.
I feel like the borrowed dress doesn’t do her waist justice like the new dress. I would love it if the dress had a bit more waist and maybe a belt to make it less plain

Something Borrowed - wear for the church!!
Something New - wear for the reception !!
