  • When Roye England moved to Upper Wanborough in 1925 he lived in the vicarage. Very close by were several buildings that were undergoing substantial changes that he thought were detrimental to their appearance and to the look and feel of the community as a whole. The modernisation of both of these buildings energised Roye to start to survey existing vernacular buildings with the intention of making models of them, and this eventually led to the founding of Pendon Museum.

    The standard us mere mortal modellers must aspire to! The world you have re-created looks idyllic, in reality life was tough and frequently short.

      Thank you for your positive comments about this video Davil. You are of course correct about how hard life was for so many people. In the Pendon Diorama we try to show just how tough things were through our village settings.

    What a lovely video, I know all the plavces.
    It's possible though I am not certain that the young boy featured at the beginning of the video is Ronald Shaw my father inlaw. The familiy lived in one of the tied cottages in badbury and the are now burried in the Chiseldon cemetery

    Loving the videos and having been to the museum not so long ago I wish I had paid more attention the the wild hedgerows and the trackside fencing.
    Is there any chance you could do an update as to how you create a wild hedgerow along with the fencing of that period that ran alongside the track.
    I cannot say I noticed a hay field, to be honest but I bet they were there. Likewise not to sure how to go about making a hay field prior to being cropped.
    Oh I could go on, how about trees aswell, please.
    Regards Chris

    The models look amazing!
    Is there a video where you just show your whole layout?

    • @PendonMuseumVideos
      @PendonMuseumVideos  Рік тому +1

      Many thanks Bezalel, we really appreciate you watching our videos. We do not (yet) have a single video showing our whole layout. It is definitely something to consider for the future. There is so much detail in the Diorama (it is the same size as a tennis court) that would need to be filmed. You will of course see many aspects in our series of videos which we hope gives you some idea of the scale of the Vale scenes.
