I could listen to Frank Caliendo doing John Madden talking about Brett Favre. All kidding aside, having tried to go back to work immediately after losing a parent, and with the job being a mere call center job, I can appreciate how difficult it must have been for Brett to focus on the task at hand.
I'm a Raiders fan.....Brett was in the ZONE...the Packers were on a Brett Mission, and they made the Raiders see it....they played hard, but the Packers had that blessingg this night...Bless Brett...what a night to be

The talk Brett had with the team the day before the MNF game had to be very emotional. Brett was a WARRIOR. He ALWAYS fought for his guys. If a RB got a cheap shot from a 350 DE Favre would get in his face. I remember Linebackers saying either he has balls of steel or he's crazy. Neither, HE LOVED HIS TEAMMATES. It's because he was only playing to keep his streak going. If his streak broke the week or two before, he ain't playin in no game. He ain't even at the stadium. Selfish
There was never a game like this and there never will be another game like this. Brett's performance transcends football / sports. Brett walking out on that field and playing the way he did was a tribute to his father. A large part of their relationship as father and son and the way they expressed those emotions to each other, without having to say it, was through the love they shared for football. I can't imagine Brett not playing that game. He showed his love for his father by playing that game and honored him by playing one of the best games of his life. That single game, more than any game in any sport ever will, personifies a son's love for his father.
I will never forget this game. The first sports game I watched where I realized it was bigger than just a game. Watching the Packers come together to support Brett, and Favre himself slinging it all over the place. Just. Perfect.
Back on my dad's 72nd birthday back in Oct 1996, he watched me complete my 3rd Ironman Triathlon race 2 days later which fell on my youngest son's 3rd birthday . On Nov 8 he was gone . But as a 22 yr Navy vet who served in WW2 he was laid to rest in a find tribute on Nov 11,1996 , Veteran's day. Now training for my 10th Ironman race as always in memory of my dad. Brett showed the true love he had for his dad all of us son's would love to have shown in a public way. But we show it each sunrise in how we live our lives with words and actions .
Eric Cartman Charlie Garner was one of the more underrated speed backs in the mid-to-late 1990s and early 2000s. Didn't get a lot of starts but he was a great "change of pace" back to keep the defense on their heels.
I remember this, I love lots of things about it. John Madden talking about Brett Favre, the fact that Favre played so well under the circumstances, it takes me back. Although, as a lifelong 49ers fan, being reminded of Rice in another uniform isn't an aspect I love. Jerry Rice and Tim Brown, two of the best all time receivers, lining up.
Well Brett your father would be proud of you... You played a really good game that and this is one of the reasons on why you deserve to be in the hall of fame
Just like my stepdad 58....is too young...26 yrs. This Easter my stepdad martin pfusch....wish I could have told him wat he meant to my life brett so great
Brett Favre was absolutely dangerous when he played. But this game is just... Wow. It's almost like divine intervention the way he played. Very few times, has something like this happened. You know you're one of the greatest of all time when you can preform at unbelievable high levels when the pressure is on and you have a high amount of stress in your personal life. Not many guys can do what Favre did. Only Michael Jordan comes to mind for me.
Thank you so much for posting these games. I've been wanting to re-watch this remarkable performance for years. Definitely the most emotionally-charged game I've ever seen; to this day it's the seminal fan experience for me. I doubt there are many moments in football history that showcased a single player's character, skill, and the devotion he inspired from his teammates like this.
To : NFL, With this Coronavirus COVID -19 thats happening to the United States, it would be great to see afew games from MNF and this would bring peace for whats happening right now and some channels are showing stay at home concerts and it would be great to see some old MNF games on TV! Some of us can't get cable TV and it would be nice to see different games on Monday night where there is no one getting shot, killed or lootering the stores and just sit down and watch a MNF game like we did before when it was taken off the air for some reason!
Half of his yardage came on jump balls. Still a great game, of course, but GB's receivers made a lot of those plays. I understand that isn't the point of this game, though.
Was watching Brady highlights from just winning his 14th conference championship heading to his 10th Super Bowl and then this came on. John madden and Al Michaels were the greatest combo in the booth
this was like 13 years ago, and I can't believe how crappy the video is. Has technology really gone that far since then? I feel like this would be the quality in like the 90's, not 2003.
barrett Johnson Prior to 2006 all American broadcasts were in SD quality with the NTSC format. In 2006 the FCC decided to get with the times and America was then changed out of SD to HD.
Every year coming up to 2005 saw slightly increased quality, but the jump from 2005 to 2006 was massive. All the networks saw their quality rise dramatically.

Every single nfl game has been in hd since 2009, but top games have been available in hd for a decade longer
amlnet49 I have seen those games. But that year, each network changed their graphics entirely and their games were much more crisp. A few anecdotes to my statement does not mean that every game from that era was had superb picture. Plenty of games in the early 2000s looked like crap.

Glen Fisher You're INSANE. Rodgers is only one MVP behind Favre, has just as many rings, is the all time leader in TD to int ratio, and passer rating. Meanwhile Favre is the interception king, and directly cost the Packers and later the Vikings, chances at Superbowls because of boneheaded interceptions in crucial moments.
This was positively, absolutely Brett Favre's best game. Not just statwise either. You look at his entire career as a whole and this was the game that jumps out to you and says that Brett is one of the best players regardless of position. You also look at some of his throws in this game and they were literally unbelievable. It was almost like God or the football gods decided to give Brett Favre that little omph in his throws. Either that or this game made you believe that there are powerful forces in the universe. Whatever it was our human understanding couldn't quite explain this game.
Tdull1993 Tom Brady and Aaron rogers have games similar to this game on a regular basis. It's crazy how overrated this guy was, that being said he was a joy to watch
Maybe he was overrated but the fact was that we enjoyed watching him because of how much he loved the game and his teammates. Yeah, he threw a lot of interceptions in his career, but you can't tell the story of the game of football without mentioning Brett Favre.
Tom Brady and aaron rodgers are also playing in a different era of football. Nothing but a pass happy league now, hardly can touch the qb without a flag being thrown.
Yes, & that's exactly what Vince Lombardi gave the mediocre QB Bart Starr, giving Starr the stats & leading people to think Starr much better than he was.
"Distractions" are total crap yet ESPN and fans obsess about them. Breakup, Grief is a REAL distraction, everything else is silly. Since when does workplace coworker drama affect YOUR own performance? A man can't teach a class, perform surgery, Fix a sink, fly a plane, close a deal, when their coworkers are in the news? So why would it affect Blocking, tackling, route running, covering WRs ? Thinking of players as 9 year olds who let ball carriers run right by them if a butterfly flutters near them.
Brett Favre’s best game. The throws he made all game. Starts off blazing hot. Dude just was unconscious 1st half
I could listen to John Madden talk about Brett Favre all day.
and Jon Gruden
Holy moly

This is the game Woodson said "damn, I don't want to ever play against that guy again"
Had to come back to this today... RIP John Madden, one of the ultimate greats

You have to admire Brett Favre for having a career game after his father just passed.
Low key this was actually really smart by Farve. Playing an NFL game to get his min off of his dad for a while, I would do the same thing.
