Some would think it's hyperbole to say he had the best game of his career, but he literally did have the best statistical performance of his entire career in this game.
Fun fact about Brett Favre in 2003: He had the most passing touchdowns in the league while simultaneously not ranking in the top ten in pass attempts. Most of his best work was in the mid 90’s, but this was a pretty good year on his part.
You know what sucks? As a Raiders fan, the only game that we've played against Green Bay that really even MERITS a spot on this channel other than this was in 1999, Gannon's first game. Only time we've been close to beating the Packers since 1987 was Favre going 80 in like 1:30 to win 28-24. But it at least proved that we had the right QB. I didn't even bother to watch this one, but looking back, Brett was special. I know how it feels to lose my dad AND have a close bond with him...no way I could've played football in 24 hours. To drop probably his career game...incredible.
Favre throwing his hands up like a kid after most touchdowns is the thing I loved the most about him as a player. He knew he was playing a game, and always had fun.
Obviously, Brett Favre was playing with a heavy heart due to the loss of his father, but instead of sitting this game out, he lets his feelings out on the field
To watch Brett Favre put on a show vs Raiders Brett's Father would've been very very proud of his son without a doubt he would be so impressed of his amazing proformence like that but that's just Brett being Brett for real
Who cares, he’s a legend. It’s like I saw some girl complaining about OJ Simpson getting a covid vaccine before her grandma, like HELLLO HAS YOUR GRANDMA RUN 2000 yards in a season? Exactly.
This magical evening, it wasn't just Favre playing great, the whole team stepped it up and played great. Amazing catches that don't happen all that often did. A magical evening by the whole Packers team, and they stepped it up to help Favre overcome & triumph. Oakland Raiders fans are mean & vicious, but so much credit to them to have hearts that when Brett walked on the field, the Oakland fans cheered him, that was beautiful.
Not even a packers fan but the thing I remember most about this game is Donald Driver, I believe, saying everything Favre throws, we catch. Period. And them mfers f_cking did it. Those WRs deserve all the credit.
I thought as a kid, watching this game, this was the greatest performance I’ve seen from any QB, still think it is to this day. Especially after losing your Father hours before the game, Favre went out there and lit it up.
I remember watching this game with my dad. I was about 6 years old and I remember asking my dad if the game was a movie. He said “No sweetie, it’s divine intervention.” That stuck with me and the Packer fan in me woke up.
I remember when this happened and my idiot roommate said "I cant believe he's playing football after his dad died, I would never do that." and all I thought was well you're not Brett Favre
Favre has said the best pass he ever threw was that first TD to Walls; that and the prior pass to Ferguson on the opening drive are pretty much perfect deep throws.
Raiders were trash that year, the Packers were a great team that were a play away from going to the NFC Championship, only to blow coverage against Philadelphia.
Very true, 2003 was an awful year for the raiders. The beginning of the downward spiral for them which they haven't seem to entirely found their way out of. The packers were really good and should've been in the NFC championship game but the eagles had luck on their side when they met in the playoffs.
I remember watching this game on TV. I thought it was really cool to see the Raiders fans cheering for Brett Favre that night. Say what you will about the black hole, but that night they showed a lot of class.
People always take the piss out of the packers having “only 2” championships with Rodgers and Favre. We had week after week of memorable performances from them two that defines my love for football for 20+ years. The Super Bowls were just a plus
@@FireAttack0811 Let me break it down for u in slang terms cuz u kno some people on the internet can be a lil slow. Lame or lames mean awkward, dull or in your case stupid. 😆 🤣 😂
Favre was Favre that night. Slinging the rock with zero regard for risk. Double coverage triple coverage didn’t matter. What made this night special was his team dominated for him. His WRs came down with EVERYTHING. On a different night those throws into coverage are multiple picks. Not that night.
I watched this game in aw! It wasn’t just the passes being made…but the catches! Every time Favre threw up a pass (iykyk) I was like Favre wha-…gyotdaaaamn!
Going into the game I only needed one (1) Ahman Green TD to win my fantasy league, so you can imagine how angry I was for about 3.5 quarters as Favre kept hitting all these long passes
The irony is that his dad was a European football fan. Brett misunderstood and trained in American football instead in an attempt to please his Father.
See what's accomplished when EVERYONE is playing as a team and for somebody else? This was a perfect game. It's the best and only sports game I've ever seen tgat embodied what sports are intended and what people think when it cones to sports. Nobody was out for themselves in this one and only this one. If there was ever a sports movie that should beaded, it's this story.
One of the most iconic games in Packer's history. Glad we get to see this matchup again tonight 20 years later
Was watching this game in my room smh , damn have come far believe it or not it's just to many rivals for no reason
@@packersauburneric3625😊
One of the most iconic games in NFL history for me
Favre was in a zone he was unbeatable on this day the sharpest he’s ever been.
One of the most complete performances of a Packers team. This wasn't all Favre...his team mates picked him up. A true pleasure to watch live
Hell yeah even the defense & special teams played great
One of the greatest performances I ever remember watching as a kid. He was something when he was on.
He had every excuse not to play but he did. I miss players like him
favre as the qb was so much fun to watch. and I'm a cowboys fan.
Had every reason not to take money from poor Mississippi folks either. I don't miss people like him
@@seanschmidt8504what was the story on that again?
Yeah similar to the way poor families miss the money he had taken from them.
@@seanschmidt8504yet I bet you like guys like ray lewis, Mike Vick, kamara and mixon
0:43 "He may be retiring after next week's game." Brett Favre: "Hold my beer."
They were playing for not only Brett Favre but for his father that’s a real team
Absolutely. It was more than a game. For a few hours we saw human beings living within their best instincts.
Given the circumstances, this was the greatest regular season gm played by a QB ever.
Raiders fan here and had to shed some tears on this night for a kid showing his dad his best. Nothing but all my respect for him that night.
Some would think it's hyperbole to say he had the best game of his career, but he literally did have the best statistical performance of his entire career in this game.
I think his best game would end up being his game he had against his former team his first year with Minnesota.
0:44 “and he may be retiring after next week’s game.” Surely he’s not still talking about Favre?? 🤣
Given that the Raiders were on offense I would guess that maybe they were talking about Tim Brown or Jerry Rice. I could be wrong though
Fun fact about Brett Favre in 2003:
He had the most passing touchdowns in the league while simultaneously not ranking in the top ten in pass attempts.

The Eagles ruined his miracle season only to go on and get their a$$ beat by the Panthers

Favre had the best run game of his career in 2003 with Ahman Green

1993 had a historic moment
i'm so glad you listened to my suggestion :) this was a very big win for favre. also very nice to see jerry rice still going at it in 2003.
Celebrating 20 years of Brett Favre honoring his dad! May one of the top 100 moments in NFL history be remembered!

RIP irve favre. You were Brett's #1 fan. That's why he had this incredible game
Javon Walker was a solid player for the Pack and then Denver.
Yeah injuries kinda derailed his career
He a body builder now. Also when darren williams was killed he was never the same. Walker was my favorite player.
Yeah. I thought guys like him and Roy Williams we’re gonna be all timers. Unfortunately injuries or situations
I'll never forget this. It was almost like we knew watching that he was going to shred them

Favre really dominated in this game but he still felt emotional after the game.
Right, that's because his dad had died, a condition which does not change

Josh Allen vs Miami last week was statistically the greatest QB performance ever but considering the circumstances yea this was a great one

Such an iconic game. His dad dies, he plays, and throws the ball down a field like a man with Big D pic Energy
Throwback game suggestions for this week:
Eagles at Jets 1993 Week 5 (Eric Allen’s legendary Pick 6)
Chiefs at Broncos 1994 Week 7 (Montana vs Elway MNF)
Bills at Giants 1990 Week 15 (SB XXV Preview)
Seahawks/Bengals 1988 AFC Divisional Playoffs
Eagles will beat the Jets again.
Montana vs Elway gets my vote amongst these. I haven’t seen too many clips of that one (feel free to direct me to some if you know any though).
Or... Raiders vs Jets 1989 MNF Week 5
You got one of these right.

The fact that the Raider fans were sympathetic with Favre was huge

What a game for Bret but man that Al Michaels John Madden call is pure gold..And man what a F'n Green Bay team that was
Packers and Raiders have an interesting history
Watching this game literally almost all of Brett Favre throw or just him chucking it up and somehow the receiver makes a play on the ball. It’s crazy.
It would have been nice to see Favre spend a whole season with Randy Moss.
If that game never had a halftime or scoreboard hed have thrown for 600 yds. His wr were unbelievable too at making contested catches.
One of the most magical things I've ever witnessed in life, it was so amazing
Favre has said the best pass he ever threw was that first TD to Walls; that and the prior pass to Ferguson on the opening drive are pretty much perfect deep throws.

On the run cross body throw is crazy. Favre had an absolute cannon for an arm

Hot take: even if the Packers weren’t playing in memory of Brett Favre’s father, this game was probably not going to be close.
Raiders were trash that year, the Packers were a great team that were a play away from going to the NFC Championship, only to blow coverage against Philadelphia.
The game probably wouldn't be remembered
The schedule makers probably thought Oakland would hold up much more than they did.
Very true, 2003 was an awful year for the raiders. The beginning of the downward spiral for them which they haven't seem to entirely found their way out of. I forgot Rick Mirer was still playing in 2003.
I actually cried watching this game….
This is why Brett Favre will always be one of my favorite all-time quarterbacks
The Raiders went from having Gannon, league mvp, at qb in 2002 to Rick Mirer starting half of the games in 2003.
Going into the game I only needed one (1) Ahman Green TD to win my fantasy league, so you can imagine how angry I was for about 3.5 quarters as Favre kept hitting all these long passes
Great game
The Raiders should've just gotten a new stadium built in Oakland because they do not belong in Vegas.
Sadly, the city of Oakland were not willing to fund a new stadium.
Isn’t Farve in jail now
Favre was the Packers best QB and nothing will change my mind.
God bless Brett Favre.
I love him.
Goodness gracious he can sling that ball 🏈 through a non existent window.
definitely favres dad was on the field
I was at a friend's house literally tripping on mushrooms watching this game it was wild! ☺️

Used to like this guy until he started taking donation money. So to me this game is irrelevant all these years later.
Most people can separate performance from the person himself. You know OJ Simpson was a hell of a RB too
And to top it off, Madden calling the game.
Wow yeah Brett Favre favorite quarterback back in days was teenagers
