I just received my Magic Mats (I got two) yesterday an absolutely love them!! I had been using self healing mats, but the Magic Mats work much better! NOW, thank you Scrapbook for taking time to send out to all the others that were perhaps unhappy as well that we are good to go for the Plus and won't have to wait for weeks to start using it.
I've been doing this for years with a self healing mat!!!, not very magic when you know how and what to use! I bet this costs more than a self healing mat too, it's amazing what you can charge when you change the name of a simple product that already exists! X
Actually, I purchased a self healing mat that my husband cut into 2 pieces for me to use in my Gemini Jr. It worked fine for a while but then not only did it warp (bend) but it warped in the middle of the plates with big bubbles. I was no longer able to use them! I am really doubting that this going to be any better. I heard of another type of mat that I saw somewhere (unfortunately, I don't remember where) that was guarantee not to warp. Made out of some different type of material. For the Gemini I have found using the magic mat sandwiched between 2 Sizzix plates is the perfect sandwich. You place them into Gemini sideways. The Sizzix plates are a bit thinner and allows use of magic mat.
@@lcbiermannhg4h with the two Sizzix plates does your Magic Mat warp with just a few cuts? I can straighten mine out with the heat gun, but I don't want to do that every 3 cuts. I am using the two clear Gemini plates and the magic mat.

Does the magic mat work on both platinum and platinum 6 spellbinders machines? Can you use two mats for steel rule dies and wafer thin dies on the spellbinders? Tia
Neither your Y.T. video description, nor the info panel below the video screen, mentions whether the Magic Mat is considered a "self-healing"-type cutting mat -- Is it?? And...will the Magic Mat warp over time as do the plastic plates we've been using in our manual die cutting / embossing machines?? Thank you for your input.

As it seems there’s little to no response to our queries to this Y.T.’r, I put this question to any and all who may have tried this product: I’d like to know if this mat is COMPARABLE to SELF-HEALING mats we find in craft stores or fabric stores? Is it stiff? Is it rubbery? I W O U L D very much like to find a fairly flexy kind of mat. - 2 actually - to use as a sandwich with my BigShot, on its base plate. After watching another UA-camr who promoted the idea of using a combination of “standard” cutting plates PLUS cut-to-size VINYL SHEETING. The number of vinyl sheet layers depends on the thickness required needed to make the dies cut the paper. I’ve been VERY impressed with the results I’ve had with this lady’s findings. Apparently, all this time, what we all needed to achieve clean cuts from our dies, was a cushier surface for the die’s sharp edges to embed into. Rotating and flipping is still required, but I think this will help to maintain the r e l a t i v e flatness of our plates. My question still stands, though, about the Magic Mat, because part of my BigShot sandwich includes a couple of flexy cutting pads.
Wow, it's been a year and NO ONE has responded to your query?! I would say that the mat is similar to self-healing mats you might find elsewhere. However, it is much thicker than my Olfa self-healing mat that I use when I sew. The mat is somewhat stiff, but you could still bend it. I would say not rubbery. The dies DO cut into the mat slightly. I use two magic mats in my Spellbinders Platinum because the mats are not the same size (length & width) as my base, and if I only use 1 magic mat, then my top layer (the Spellbinders clear plate) wants to warp. It works better if I lay the two magic mats side by side to cover my entire base plate. I hope this makes sense.
@@CatGetsCrafty Many thanks for responding! Since my initial query I’ve been using 2 sheets of Joann’s heaviest vinyl, cut to match the size of the cutting plates of my Sizzix BigShot Plus (wide platform), and changing them out as needed (due to the cuts they have to endure). In the year plus I’ve been using this set up, my clear plates are no worse for wear from cuts, and show NO signs of WARPING! Yes, I DO go through a set of vinyl sheets about (I’d say) every 6th time I cut a couple of dozen or more diecuts. That may seem a major waste of resources, however, with paper crafting seemingly “falling out of favor” (and therefore Sizzix plates made specifically for our BigShots becoming scarce), it seems a more practical solution to use a “substitute” item that is readily available AS IT’S NOT SPECIFIC TO PAPER CRAFTING!! Not only more readily available, but less expensive, too! Be well, and happy holidays!!
@@kkrolf2782 I'm glad you found a solution. I think the Magic Mat might work for you, and could potentially cost less (it retails for $14.99). With the use of the Magic Mat, I only use one clear plate in my sandwich, and it doesn't really warp. And, since the dies cut into the mat, I don't see any damage to my clear plate either. I already had the smaller Magic Mats, but am thinking of buying the 9"x15" to use with my Spellbinders Platinum, and cutting it down a bit as it's a bit longer and wider than the Platinum opening.
Wow this is so cool I need to get me some of these Magic mat. I have a cuddlebug and I love my cuddlebug and I have a little mini one too. thank you so much for your video.

I am not getting nice clean cuts as shown here. parts of the die cut fine and others not so fine. The best results seem to have come by running the cut through 4 times! What am I doing wrong?
I have the Big Shot Express, too. I saw the part when she showed the Gemini. I assume it would work on other electronic die cutting machines too. However, you're right. I would rather like to see it done on the Big Shot Express, too.
Wondering if these mats work with the AG empress machine? I have a couple of hand crank type machines that work with these mats thank you so much scrapbook.com for making our crafting life much easier and more affordable...
I am happy to see I am not the only one having trouble. My mat did the same thing. I’ve only had it since this Christmas season and already isn’t cutting. I followed the article that was posted here and it doesn’t help at all. It basically just gives advice to make sure you have a good sandwich (which most of us do) and it also says to check your shims on your machine. Guess what? my machine works perfect with the two plastic plates. So yeah.. not good.
What about the cut and boss, thank you, also this is slightly smaller than the big shot plus and the gemini, I know the extended plate would fit but do you plan to do one to fit the cut and boss. Thank you x
Seems there is some contradictory info put out by scrapbook.com. I watched a video where the standard magic mat was used with the Gemini jr but I got an email that specifically said you can’t use the standard mat, you need the extended mat for the junior. Which is it?
Thank you so much for this, I had a older model of the Cuddlebug and my B plates are shot I don't have the magnetic plate I see you using; would the standard size magic mat work as replacements for them.
Hi there Nadine! The Extended Magic Mat would need to be used for the Cuttlebug. In the video, the magnetic cutting mat was a replacement for the rubber cutting mat, so as long as you have that, you can build your sandwich like this: Platform, rubber cutting mat, Magic Mat, paper, thin metal die, B plate. 😊💗
Please show the use on the Sizzix Foldaway. It seems to be an odd duck of the group. You can't even use the precision cutting plate because of higher than normal pressure.

aww, I was hoping for actual questions answered, or even some hacks for the Magic Mat, instead of just showing the sandwiches for every die cutting machine currently sold and if the magic mat works at one size, wouldn't all of them work as long as they fit? Showing how to use the standard and the mini pad on the extended platform is a bit superfluous. Maybe its just me, but I was hoping for some good info on other ways to use the magic mat. How to partially die cut, or using a folded card to make the die cut go through both sides for a double see thru or shaker card. Things like that. But then again, there are many newbies in the papercrafting world the same as I was when I bought one of the first grand wizard die cutting machines from Spellbinders. Anyone else remember that machine? It was responsible for the die cutting monkey, now gorilla, on my back.
@@prettypaperthings The magic mat was made for different die cutting machines, but I do not see a mat for larger machines like the fiskars fuse and sizzix bigshot pro. The magic mat would come in handy for the bigger machine I have.
I have the sidekick and a mini mat and cannot get mine to work, I was hoping they would do a demonstration so I could see if I was doing it wrong. Hopefully someone will see your question and offer some advice
I have the Sizzix Bk and I have the standard and extended magic mat I tried sever times and it won’t cut out my dies. I did the sandwich just as suggested several times it doesn’t cut. Do you have a suggestion?
I just bought the magic mat and magnetic mat, I have a cuttlebug. Are you using these sandwiches only for thin dies? I have lots of mosaic moments dies will it work using thicker dies. What sandwich do I use for those? Thanks
I'm very interested in this product, but if at all possible, could you do a tutorial using the Big Shot Pro machine. There's very few videos on how to sandwich.
Even after my regular cutting plates break in half I continue using them for hundreds of more successful cuts (using a tissue to protect the paper from becoming "embossed" by the damage.) I would like to see how a SUPER USED magic mat fares... Do they continue to cut cleanly even after lots of scarring?
Yes, they do. I flattened a warped plate by soaking it in hot water to remove the little bits of paper that were stuck in it and have used it for many more cuts since then.
I am SUPER EXCITED about this cutting mat!!! When will they be back in stock? As well as the mint tape? I ordered the smallest mat & it's on the way but i am SUPER anxious to get the regular size!! Ih yes ..I NEED the mint tape as well!!!😊❤

Thanks for the tip on fixing warp with heat gun. Have used it for 3 days in a row rotating etc, on holiday card madness and it is warped so bad. Took longer but heating worked. Also have still had no luck with cutting pad and thick acetate. No amount of shims has worked so far.
I couldn't get it to go through my full sized Gemini, perhaps it was because my top plate was warped? it either took the bottom plate and then whizzed...or it jammed and quit...but that was after it not only warped the magic mat which is way too short , if you put it in sideways...but it got hills and dales it it like a mountain range. I have thrown it out and we are getting a replacement to try again. but please explain how to I put in the standard when it is too small and does my top gemini plate need to be flat..I assume that when the 15" long one comes out it will fit my gemini? thanks..

I have the Big Shot Express, too. I saw the part when she showed the Gemini. I assume it would work on other electronic die cutting machines too. However, you're right. I would rather like to see it done on the Big Shot Express, too.
@@gerilynne1955 Thank you for the reply but I cannot find it. Any idea who made the video?
@@lorisheardown2697 sorry no.
Thank you for the review.
Thank you for this demo. It would be very helpful to know what thickness/weight of paper/card you are using for this demonstration.
Thank you for showing us how to use the Magic Mat. I have just bot a big Gemini.
This is awesome ... hurry magic mat come back in stock
Wondering if these mats work with the AG empress machine? I have a couple of hand crank type machines that work with these mats thank you so much scrapbook.com for making our crafting life much easier and more affordable...
Thank you for answer my question now I need to purchase the swan die ,tape, and papers
I was so happy to get my mat. The first dozen or so cuts worked great but after that it won't cut the whole image. Any suggestions?
Hi Barbara, our article may be helpful www.scrapbook.com/articles/mat
I am happy to see I am not the only one having trouble. My mat did the same thing. I’ve only had it since this Christmas season and already isn’t cutting. I followed the article that was posted here and it doesn’t help at all.
It basically just gives advice to make sure you have a good sandwich (which most of us do) and it also says to check your shims on your machine.
Guess what? my machine works perfect with the two plastic plates. So yeah.. not good.
WILL THIS WORK WITH THE ANNA GRIFFIN EMPRESS?
GO TO THEIR WEBSITE
What about the cut and boss, thank you, also this is slightly smaller than the big shot plus and the gemini, I know the extended plate would fit but do you plan to do one to fit the cut and boss.
Thank you x
Have mine...haven’t used it yet. Great Info...thanks you
Can't wait for you to get these back in stock so I can order one
Thanks. This is quite helpful. 😊
Which mat would I order for the Gemini Midi? Thank you for the helpful video.
Seems there is some contradictory info put out by scrapbook.com. I watched a video where the standard magic mat was used with the Gemini jr but I got an email that specifically said you can’t use the standard mat, you need the extended mat for the junior. Which is it?
The magic mat is a game-changer with my Gemini Jr. Machine! Does the mini magic mat work with Sizzix Sidekick? TYFS ❤️🦋💜
What sandwich do you use for the Gemini Jr?
I know I'm looking at this a year later but had to, I just got my magic matts for my Big Shot Plus and I can't wait to use them 😁
Thank you so much for this, I had a older model of the Cuddlebug and my B plates are shot I don't have the magnetic plate I see you using; would the standard size magic mat work as replacements for them.
@@scrapbook I don't have the rubber mat, do you have any recommendations.
Thank you for sharing, this answers a lot of questions!
Please show the use on the Sizzix Foldaway. It seems to be an odd duck of the group. You can't even use the precision cutting plate because of higher than normal pressure.
Will the magic mat work with any of the Diamond Press machines that just have folders?
To see machine compatibility, head over to the Magic Mat product pages, and under "Description & Details" you will find a list of which machines each Magic Mat is compatible with. You can also see sandwich configurations for various machines on the main product images.
I just used my new Magic Mat. I thought "there's no resistance ,it isn't cutting" WOW , WAS I WRONG. I am ecstatic.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY STANDARD ONE! WHEN WILL THE EXTENDED BE BACK IN STOCK? ❤
Yay! We are so happy to hear that, Traci! You can sign up to be notified via email (and text message!) when the Extended Magic Mat is back in stock! 💗
@@scrapbook Yes, I did sign up. Do you think they will be back before Christmas?
Can you use two mats together? One for the top and one for the bottom ?
Yes, she demoed that with the Cuttlebug
Me encanta!!! , Saludos desde Chile 🤗
Thank you for sharing!!
aww, I was hoping for actual questions answered, or even some hacks for the Magic Mat, instead of just showing the sandwiches for every die cutting machine currently sold and if the magic mat works at one size, wouldn't all of them work as long as they fit? Showing how to use the standard and the mini pad on the extended platform is a bit superfluous.
Maybe its just me, but I was hoping for some good info on other ways to use the magic mat. How to partially die cut, or using a folded card to make the die cut go through both sides for a double see thru or shaker card. Things like that. But then again, there are many newbies in the papercrafting world the same as I was when I bought one of the first grand wizard die cutting machines from Spellbinders. Anyone else remember that machine? It was responsible for the die cutting monkey, now gorilla, on my back.
What is you don’t have the magnetic plate for the cuttlebug? Will magic May still work?
Should I use magic mat with embossing folders? Or use regular plates and sandwich?
Are you coming out with a larger version? Like for the Fiskars Fuse Machine?
Why would they make a product for another brand?
@@prettypaperthings The magic mat was made for different die cutting machines, but I do not see a mat for larger machines like the fiskars fuse and sizzix bigshot pro. The magic mat would come in handy for the bigger machine I have.
Hi! Does the magic mat work for We R Memory Keepers Revolution cutting and embossing machine?
Will the mini mat work with the sidekick
I have the sidekick and a mini mat and cannot get mine to work, I was hoping they would do a demonstration so I could see if I was doing it wrong. Hopefully someone will see your question and offer some advice
I LOVE THIS MAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can the EXTENDED Magic Mat be cut into two? I have NO need for one so long, but I'm all about saving money, so it'd be great to get 2 for 1.
Ugh I want this mat! Unfortunately the standard size is STILL out of stock 😥
Does the Magic Mat work in the Spellbinders Prizm?
Thank you! I don't see tne Mini version on your website. Will that be coming soon?
The Mini Magic Mat has been discontinued.
@@scrapbook Oh, that's disappointing. Thank you for the reply.
What size magic mat do I purchase for the Gemini big machine.
How often do you have to heat the mat when you use it with the Gemini Junior due to warping? Thank you.
My guess would be when needed.
Did I miss it ... or did not you not show a sandwich for the Spellbinders products that are in your table display?
She is showing the magic mat on different machines. That's it. Sorry but you can always check out other You Tube videos.
Hi Erin! The sandwich for a Spellbinders machine would be, building from the bottom up: Platform, Magic Mat, Paper, Die, Standard cutting Plate 😊
@@gerilynne1955 she didn’t show it for all of the machines displayed though. Btw, no one else has videos for this item yet because it is new.
@@scrapbook thank you!
Wish you had demonstrated if and how it works with the Spellbinders machine and the Sidekick.
Thank you for the feedback, Debbie 😊
Can you emboss with the magic mat Thanks
I am SUPER EXCITED about this cutting mat!!! When will they be back in stock? As well as the mint tape? I ordered the smallest mat & it's on the way but i am SUPER anxious to get the regular size!! Ih yes ..I NEED the mint tape as well!!!😊❤

Thanks for the tip on fixing warp with heat gun. Have used it for 3 days in a row rotating etc, on holiday card madness and it is warped so bad. Took longer but heating worked. Also have still had no luck with cutting pad and thick acetate. No amount of shims has worked so far.
Hope they are back in stock soon
I couldn't get it to go through my full sized Gemini, perhaps it was because my top plate was warped? it either took the bottom plate and then whizzed...or it jammed and quit...but that was after it not only warped the magic mat which is way too short , if you put it in sideways...but it got hills and dales it it like a mountain range. I have thrown it out and we are getting a replacement to try again. but please explain how to I put in the standard when it is too small and does my top gemini plate need to be flat..I assume that when the 15" long one comes out it will fit my gemini?
thanks..

How do you clean this mat? Mine seems to hang only the tiny bits left over from cutting. I brush it off but sometimes it leaves a mark on my card stock.
Can you use the Magic Mat with a Big Shot Plus? Or do you need to get a larger one?

Is there a special type of paper u need to use for any of the machines
Hi Samantha! There is not a specific paper that is used for the machines. Most machines have a list of materials that can be cut depending on the size of the die cutting machine 🥰
What size Magic Mat would I need for the We R Memory Keepers Revolution? Thank you!
Have you tried the magic mat with the new Gemini 2? If so, what is the sandwich? Same as the Jr?
Yes, it works. The sandwich is Magic Mat - Paper - Thin Metal Die - Clear Plastic Shim - Magnetic Shim - White Cutting Plate
