  • We just learned about vasoconstrictors, which treat low blood pressure, or hypotension, by constricting the blood vessels. Now let's look at the precise opposite, vasodilators, which treat high blood pressure, or hypertension, by dilating the blood vessels. Let's learn more about hypertension and the mechanisms by which vasodilators address this issue!

I will never be able to understand how do you manage to learn so much. I am greatful for you sharing you knowledge and I wished to learn even a small precentage of it, but even in ten lifetimes I wouldn't be able to finish it. really, really impressive

My dad has hypertension, so I'm interested in learning more. Sending this his way, hopefully understanding how these drugs work can help him feel more comfortable with medication for the issue.

I take medication for hypertension and it works wonders. I tried eating the right foods but found myself not keeping it up. Having the medication every day and not having to think about what foods to eat was great for my mental health. I didn't have to think too much about what foods to eat. Eating the right foods works wonders for some people, but taking my medication is a breeze in comparison.

Fascinating description of how these drugs work :) .
When these were prescribed to me, the side effects were almost lethal, as they actually CAUSED all of the symptoms of heart failure!

I have low blood pressure (all my life) Sometimes I randomly get pain in my heart area. Can this be from another thing besides narrowing of the vessels? Or can you still have narrowing of the arterial veins and have low blood pressure at the same time? I had an electrocardiogram and it came out normal. Is this something seen in an echocardiogram instead?

This is EXACTLY why doing a medical degree is so hard. Rather than praising a non-proven sky-wizard, how about heaping praise onto those who discovered how these mechanisms work. Thanks Dave, for teaching in a multi-sensory fashion, a complicated subject which is probably 0.0000001% of what you need to know to be a successful doctor. I just don't know how you could cram so much knowledge into one brain.

Ppl saying, "Thank God" when a group of highly trained medical professionals just saved your life. Yeah asshole thank modern medicine not ancient superstition

Or we could do both. God and science are not mutually exclusive propositions. Science is neutral on the god issue, because it can only explain things inside of the natural world. I thank God for making the universe with such intricacy, and I thank medical professionals for discovering His designs.

As someone actually in the medical field, this comment is nonsensical. After reading your comment I cringe at your need to bring up ideology and personal biases in unrelated contexts.

Could you make a video for normal people (non-scientists) about the hypothesis that our universe could be in a black hole?
How did this come about in hypothesis?
    How plausible is this hypothesis?
    How would one imagine that?
A more detailed video would be interesting, but one for laypeople.
