Where the pole locates into the sockets there is an adjustable tape that runs across the threshold. Make sure that it is slackened off completely before trying to insert the pole ends. I had the same problem with mine until I spotted the adjustment buckle. By default it was at max tension!
State side here. I’ve lost count of the number of videos I’ve seen demonstrating the OEX Bobcat. I thought, “damn,” that many ppl can’t be wrong about that tent. I’ve got to get it. However, it wasn’t that easy. Came time to order it it couldn’t be found State side so I had to order from somewhere in England and pay all that postage. Bumber. Ok, so I finally got my tent. I use it for bicycle touring. I haven’t tried it in high wind or rain yet. I like how the front gives us a wide picture window view of the outside. Looks like you found a good camp spot. Om!
I keep seeing alot of people complaining about the pole on the Bobcat being hard to get in the first few times. Theres adjustable straps where the pole fits in at either side. They just need loosened to fit the pole in and tightened again afterwards.
Kipford and Rockcliffe, two places I haven’t visited for 50 years and couldn’t remember their names. Thanks for jogging my memory, small detour on next years road trip required
This is the tent I'm looking at so thanks for the review. I've seen a hack with a trekking pole for the back guy line, tie it to a pole rather than the ground and it pulls the whole thing out giving you more room inside. Those views are amazing though and they dont need any music to enjoy them. I noticed someone else commented about the music but its easy enough to mute 😎
I honestly don't mind my music choice to be honest thanks very much . It's copyright stuff and I think it went well but it's everyone to their own isn't it :) Yeah the trekking pole hack seems ace 👍 well done. I dont use the tent at all anymore cuz it is really too small nd it was my very first tent so it has memories. Really honest opinion, if people have the money I wouldnt even bother wasting time on a tent this cheap. But anyhoo Anyway all the music I choose to put on my videos I like that's why I put it :) Scarp 1 is a better choice for example. Not too expensive but not cheap.
@@GoSummitSolo wow that's interesting, in the 3 months since the review you've already stopped using it? I love hiking and want to try wild camping next year but don't know if it'll be for me so didn't want to spend a huge amount on a tent to try it out. Shame I don't know any camping folks to borrow one 😂 I really don't mind music on the vlogs, like I said its easy enough to mute if it's not to your taste.
hi hi have just bought that tent and it comes tomorrow i use the cloud peak 2 in the rest of the seasons except winter because i like my cold winter camps and the cloud peak was a little breezy when it was below minus 2.3 so i got the bobcat 1 and i had seen all the good review. i payed £99 but if it does me in the winter fine. it looks a really good tent. oh a big tip when your trying to get the pole in use the floor by sticking the other end in the floor to bend it👍

Try introducing some talcum powder into the areas where the backpack squeaks and grunts. It is most likely around where the fabric from stress points (shoulder straps and waist belt) interface and 'work' against the rigid 'trampoline arch' subframe structure.
Thanks for sharing, i'm a new viewer who just clicked on to see what you thought of the tent, great coincidence as i used to holiday around sandyhills/rockcliffe and it was lovely to see it again!
Hey I live 15 miles from here just along the coast … last time I was down I wondered if I’d be able to get to Sandy bay by bike down the route you took looks like that’s a no. Nice vid love the views, I often go down to D&G never been round that way though, I've got the Bobcat and love it, I did the mods cut 20mm out the pole (there's no adjustment on mine as I have heard others say) and I used magnets like one winds to pull out the back and inner works great, I'm trying it out again tonight in storm Agnes, wish me luck lol.
@@GoSummitSoloJust a local woods near me in West Lothian as I had work in the morning, It went fine, Agnes was a bit of a damp squib here a wee bit rain and the odd strong gust, was a bit disappointing lol.
Hey man thanks for the Sub xx Yes Dumfries and Galloway still has its beauty in comparison to the highlands yes some may argue not as amazing but because I'm from here it's an attatchent that makes it more 😊😊 hey have a nice weekend.
Hi Evgenia, another great and entertaining video...Great to hear your thoughts on the Bobcat so well done for entering into review territory... Nice that you done it too combined with a camp which is much harder that reviewing from your back garden... Good luck with the channel and keep up the great content... best wishes Tom
Ugh aye yeah. It's a hard tent because if you don't pull the guide lines forward like that then the front shelter cappy bit doesn't shelter you 😅 another flaw I didnt mention haha. Thank you x thank you :)
@@Chris66able aye a Ken it does. I've had this tent for 3 years x ive used it over 30 times. I do know though if you pitch this tent strong for the wind the door does not shut. So i dont like that about it x

Hey hey :) thanks for the comment. It is certainly a cute little tent. Certainly cramped so not for everyone but it is durable 💪💪💪 happy new year x
I'm in Australia and have ordered one too, postage is really expensive but it looks like a great one man tent. I've been bingeing Bobcat videos too.
