    In the next iteration of Osmo Pocket, if they somehow manage to have several lenses with different focal lengths and still make it within the same small form factor, it's pretty much game over for compact camera and mobile phone.

      True. But I am sure freewell with come up with a wide angle lens that you can use ND filters with, and if they were the make a decent telephoto lens, uff, that would be very, very good..... or mobile/ travelling filming would be amazing...

    I am heavily invested in both the Sony ZV-! and smartphone gimbals and phone accessories. That said, if I was starting over I might just get the DJI. The convenience / time-saving is overwhelming...and something I highly value. It's hard to justify the Pocket 3 when I have all this other stuff, but if I was in a situation where I film everyday for YT or something else, I would have to get it just for the convenience/ time saving.
    This feels like the beginning of a whole new kind of device. I can easily imagine a larger version (but still small) with an integrated zoom lens and even interchangeable lenses (assuming they can bet it to instantly balance without a bunch of adjustments) Its easy to throw around the term gamechanger, but this might be it!

      You are onto something. For vlogging and talking to camera as you walk, and similar situations, in my opinion, there is nothing better than these type of cameras. And the P3 is the king of them all. Great image quality, always nicely stabilised, great low light. It does kit have the look of a camera with interchangeable lenses, but then again, it is not intended to compete against those. For what it was designed for, it does a tremendous job!

      @@SamuelSotiega This camera is surprisingly good for action too. I usually shoot static shots on my 5D3 with magic lantern, and the pocket has shown itself to perfectly slot in between an action camera and having the disposable income to put a more expensive camera on a gimbal in order to shoot action. Having care refresh makes it totally worry free, while still nimble enough and with tech like tracking so that I can focus on my own movement and safety instead of having to monitor the camera.

    With higher end video cameras with bigger sensors, shooting in DNG RAW doesn't improve image quality by very much (unless you are doing heavy editing and image manipulation).
    Where Cinema DNG makes a HUGE difference is on tiny sensors like the ones in smartphones.

    Followed your advice on the hohem m6 for the iPhone and love the gimble. I have one question regarding microphones, I’m not a vlogger and don’t talk during my videos, do I need an external mic? Like a Dji mic?

    • @SamuelSotiega

      If you want to record good audio when anyone talks to your camera, if you ever do that, then yes. If you don’t plan to have anyone talking to camera, and all you want is ambient audio, i would recommend a small rode micro or any type of small “smartphone” mic and you can then plug it to the phone. The M6 will most likely be able to handle the fact the phone will stick out slightly. Let me know how you plan to record audio and I can give you a more specific answer.

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  3 місяці тому

      Both really good. Thr M6 has an infinitely better and bigger range of vertical adjustment when the AI tracker is engage to reduce headroom. That to me is a mega plus. The P3 is super quick and discreet, that is a huge plus. Hard to say which one is better than the other on everything because each one allows you to do something the other can’t…

    Question, I just bought a Scorp 2 mini gimbal kit with AI tracking for $280 and the Rode wireless Pro for my iphone pro max...awsome set up but so huge and time to set up. Do you think the pocket 3 is a better choice from that set up I have for content creation? I do not own a camera at the moment. I can still return gimbal and Rode mic. Thanks in advance.

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  10 місяців тому +2

      Yes, massive difference. The pocket 3 will be 2 seconds and you are good to go. No mounting camera, balancing, etc. You flick the screen and the gimbal and camera are good to go. If you want simplicity, the Pocket 3 is hard to beat, in my opinion. And the quality is good too. It is not going to be as good as a dedicated camera and lens that might cost 2-5K, but for most people and situations, it is more than enough. I use the pocket 3 now for vlogging, no other camera. The quality is just so good. I am soon doing a Pocket 3 vs high-end camera video where you will see more samples, but like I said earlier, if simplicity and speed in what you are after, get the Pocket 3, it is unbeatable.

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  Рік тому

      It will totally work for that! As a matter of fact, I am on holidays now abroad and normally I would take my canon camera and lenses and this time I have just taken my pocket 3 and my action 4. So yes, it is a leap of faith but I feel it is totally possible. And if you want to add extra shallow dpeth of field to the image, you can use a depth map in davinci resolve and then a lens blue node and you can cheat the look. If you do that, for best results I recommend to zoom in all the way as the look of the person's face changes due to lens distortion at 20mm and it doesn't look natural. At zoomed in 40mm looks more like a traditional lens would look like. I hope it makes sense...Let me know otherwise...

    I use a #DJIRonin to shoot at events like Paris Fashion Week.
    In the crowd and the hassle, it's always so complex to get a Gimbal out, balance it, and set up 2 cameras, one for stills and one on Gimbal for videos.
    I am tempted to go for Osmo 3, but I am stopping short because the quality of Osmo Pocket one was not so professional.
    Family use? Yes. Vlogging.. maybe.
    Any suggestions?

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  11 місяців тому +1

      The P3 is far more advanced than the P1 original. I think you would be surprised. Plus the form factor means you can het going in 2 seconds and be very covert, to the point that modt people wouldn’t ever realise there is a camera filming, which will help with acting natural. If you were in London, I would let you use it and make a decision. Send me a private message and maybe we can work something out. I am planning a trip to Paris on April, if that helps. Maybe we can do something together and you can test the kit out, if that is not too far for you into the future!

    It's true, a lot a people already have the best pocket camera out there, their phone. It's a lot of trouble to whip out even my Pocket 2 for short clips. Yes, if I were those UA-cam walking fools , then the Pocket makes sense, but it's definetly a niche product. If I was packing light, I would just have my phone a Gopro. All gimbals are fragile and if you are travelling fast or at an amusement park, a gimbal anything is just too fragile to stow in your bag. The only area where it might be optimal is in low light, but seriously do you even need it. My Samsung Ultra does pretty good even handheld walking down the street. So if you are an amateur, this might be ok, but expensive for limited use. If you are a pro, why bother. Totally niche product.

      The pocket 3 is really good!! Very good indeed, but for what it is and for what it is designed for. Just as you wouldn’t use a Ferrari for farming, it doesn’t mean the Ferrari is bad, just that for farming, a tractor is better suited.
