    My biggest personal disappointment was the lack of an inline chat/game mixer (except for maybe the last headset...I couldnt tell). This is a requirement for any headset I own. With how inconsistent teammate's mic volumes can be, this feature is by far my favorite. It's annoying having to change it in game every couple matches to get the mix I want.

    The sound augmentation on the MMX is something I tend to look for as a gaming mom. Especially when the kiddos aren't in the same room with me. Allows me to hear what's going on with them but still able to enjoy some me time as well.

    20:30 If this is the BlackShark mic then that is crazy cuz I honestly couldn't even tell you switched from your designated microphone to a headset one. I have heard that the audio is kind of mediocre on it though, especially when it compares to SteelSeries and Maxwell what would you guys say this headset compares to it in that department?

  • @kenv2667
    @kenv2667 Рік тому +15

    Maxwell owner here. the drawback? It is a risky headset. Its driver is very sensitive that has a relatively higher chance to break if you messed up some "pressure" on the earcups. The foil can wrinkle and it most likely would affect the audio. Mine had some wrinkle and stopped working on 1 side after 3 months, replaced with warranty. The new one does not have any wrinkle at start.. but now has very small ones. I can hear some crackling sound (with or without audios playing in the headset) when moving my head. Hopefully it does not break like my first one. Some says that one of the cause of the wrinkle is when the earcup is pressed in your head, creating changes in pressure. or even when removing the headset using one hand which causes some pressure on the other side. something like that.
    Another one, is that for gaming, footsteps or sound stage is not the best. it is great, but not on top unlike other gaming headsets.
    Sound quality is the best though

    Odds on doing a strictly "Top value for price" series as well where you go over products that might not be the best but offer outstanding quality for their price segment. For some products, you would have mentioned options in the "best" videos already (the Hyper X Cloud III in this one, for example), but I don't mind them being repeated.
    I think it would be interesting for a lot of people who are looking for decent quality without being willing to go the step into the "pro-level" segment due to price and are basically looking for stuff that offers "upper class performance for a middle class price".
    Great output today, I dig it.

      @vxtwist6325 I would say they are equally comfortable, both have great mics but razer slightly edges out, cloud 3 has less bass, but not absent! Cloud 3 has 120hr battery and razer 70hrs. Cloud has no Bluetooth, razer Bluetooth is not simultaneous so it's not that great. When it comes to connecting, the cloud 3 connection is insane out of the 7 wireless headsets iv tried, it's instant even if you reboot your PC. Clouds have the best side tone iv ever heard, if you are into hearing yourself speak. Also cloud 3 is like 120$ right now from 165$ so it just depends what you want.

      @omarfish8940 11 місяців тому +3

      @@M8YonXBL Although I'm not the original commenter I did just get them in today and I'll give you my first thoughts on them.
      I will first say that I am not a gamer. I don't play games and I didn't buy the Maxwells because I wanted a gaming headset, I bought them because they're planar magnetics, were 100 USD cheaper than the Edifiers, and were bluetooth (although I could've gotten the MM100s which were also planar magnetics but they're not bluetooth so I decided not to).
      And Jesus Christ these are really some of the best headphones in the world right now. I thought I'd be at least a little disappointed because I knew I definitely overhyped myself but even after doing that I still found them to have exceeded my expectations on what a headphone could sound like. They are crystal clear audio-wise and have some of the greatest sound-staging and imaging I've ever seen.
      I had decided to compare them with all of my other headphones which includes things like a beater pair of turtle beaches, Sony XM4s, and even a beater Beyerdynamic. The only way I can describe the result was that it was like seeing Hulk Hogan curbstomp a 5 year old girl. It was just ridiculous how good these things sounded. In fact, the only thing I found that offered any kind of fair comparison to the Maxwells were my Vinyl-Record set up which includes a 600 USD monitor, 400 USD amp, and 500 USD player. The fact that the only thing that beat the Maxwells in my household was a 1500 USD audio set up should be a testament to the sheer quality that these things provide.
      The only, ONLY, thing that I dislike about these is how annoying they can be to deal with sometimes. They'll have a tendency to create audio artifacts when out of your ear and will also sometimes just stop playing audio if you connect multiple bluetooth devices to them which is really easy to do so. But as long as you use the wireless dongle thingy or you double check your devices to make sure that they aren't connected to them no problems will be found.
      If you're thinking of buying these I strongly advise you do so. These are probably one of the easiest and cheapest way to get into proper audiophile grade stuff without overly breaking the bank

      I like it but I'd trade most of the battery life for weight savings. It's really not an inconvenience to plug it in, as long as it can last a whole session. I just don't see the need for days and days of avoiding plugging in a cable vs constantly having it weigh down on you while wearing it.

    • @WyattOShea

      @@chillpengeru I don't really notice the weight lol but I do wear them upwards of 12 hours a day most days and sometimes much more so battery life I needed for me. Plus the good thing about insane battery life is once the battery starts to not hold a charge as long as you might want it to you might not even notice if the battery life gets cut in half as it would still last you over a day before needing a recharge.

    Do not waste your money on the Maxwells. Sure they sound good, but they rarely work. The range is horrible and even while sitting right next to the dongle they FREQUENTLY disconnect and reconnect. I owned and used them as my daily drivers for 6mo before putting them to the side as $300+ (Xbox version) paperweights. I contacted support several times over this issue and they were never able to solve the problem. I tried them on several different PC's, laptops, desktops, and my Pixel Pro 7 and all had the same issue. I'm not sure the reviewers are using them long enough for the issues to rear it's head. I went back to my Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and have never been happier. Not sure why they aren't on the list. PS...everyone I talked to on my discord like the sound of the Arctis mic over the Maxwells.

    Wish there was mentioning on soundstage performance which is very important in competitive games or any audiophile headphones gamers like, such as Sennheiser 58x or the new 660s2. Open back is king here, and almost none of the mentioned here had this. Just bad mics to make them “gaming” headphones. And a good chunk of people paying a few hundred on headphones will likely buy a quality standalone mic for $50-100.

      560s has the best imaging imo. Imaging is more important than Soundstage because most headphones already have a wide Soundstage. Tey iems. Iems are better for low budget.

I’ve exchanged that to better audio quality as for me this headset is being used for CS2 and work, also the audio quality is not that bad. (I forget which its the closed style) while good and has served me well I'm sick of the wires tangling up and also the foam ear cups have deteriorated making it uncomfortable to use during long sessions. i have the razer kraken ultimate headset and after the update my headset is completely screwed. My audio comes and goes. For some games it’ll say “No sound driver” and for others if i switch in and out of tabs the headset just breaks and takes away my audio. Reinstalling razer, my pc, and troubleshooting don’t do anything. I’m bummed bc the headset was pretty pricey at the time i bought it. The mic quality used to be good as well and now it sucks. I don’t recommend purchasing razer headsets… atleast now. Razer won’t address the issue and they keep blaming their buyers by saying it’s our pcs problem and saying “make sure it’s set as your audio device.” They are 0 help and investing in any razer product is a waste of money.

      I don't know if you already decided but in my opinion it is hard to compare them. One is gaming related, another music with dedicated mic, closed vs open back, EQ vs no EQ, and so on. Depends what you want to do with the headphones mainly. If music is the answer, LCD is the way to go, maybe even better to choose other headphones. If your main goal is gaming, you have tons of great products.
