I love the line "I wanna be free to feel the way I do". As a women I have been made to feel like I dont have the right to express my feelings or to feel guilty for having thoughts and feelings that dont align with the standard male dominated society. To me this song is about embracing my inner self and not being afraid to show who I am as a women to the world. I should be free to feel the way I do.
you should listen to Any Man of Mine followed by That Dont Impress me Much, Both are by Shania.

You know the best thing about being a woman, and having the prerogative to have a little fun...is being able to define what fun is and not being guilted for it. Some of us do find out fun in going out with the girls, and some times fun is staying in to spend extra time giving the kids a long bubble bath and letting them play, or taking the family to a movie. Fun is what we make it. I absolutely love Shania in this video!! I do wish more women still embraced femininity.

27 years ago...when i was 45, this song was just a fun song for women to say we can dress up or down and go out as a group of girls and just have fun! The meaning of "BEST part of being a woman" changes as you age. Now as a 62 y/o woman (which by the way is VERY hard to believe) the BEST part of being a woman is seeing children and grandchildren/great grandchildren grow up and enjoy life...Also having a loving, honest, dependable and trustworthy man by my side to grow old together with!!❤

    From a 70 y/o woman...we are women!!! Not a birthing person...I am a Woman!
Shania is just having fun in this parody. Shania is gorgeous!
Shania was raised very poor. Her parents died and she raised her brothers and sisters in Canada.
She married a man, Mutt Lane. His name fits him! In more ways than one. He cheated on her with her best friend and babysitter. It almost destroyed her. She dropped out of music for awhile. However, years later she married that best friend's ex-husband. I've heard they are happy.

Agree, I love being a woman. All of it. I loved being at home, creating a home / knowing that my kids and husband came in when it was cold and snowing, smelling something cooking and looking forward to getting there. The house was cozy and warm. The dog was there to listen to my daughter’s problems so I could eavesdrop. All the stages from feetie pj’s up though play practice in high school and coming home from college when a friend was seriously hurt. All the stages. My husband with a grandkid or two on his lap reading. I’m 76 and widowed now and those are sweet memories to look back on. Also quiet talks in bed. I wonder what old women who had an important career look back on.

Shania has had a rags to riches life full of hard work. Hard financial times led to her singing late at night in bars around the age of 8 to help put food on the table. She hated the drunken environment, but learned how to be on stage. She also worked with her Dad (step-dad, but she considered him her Dad) in his Reforestation company hauling trees, bathing in the lake, etc. On her down time, she wrote music. She's every bit feminine, but she's paid her dues for sure, too. When you do a reaction to Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love, you'll get this video. She flipped it around & had fun with it. Always liked her sassy nature. Lol.

There was a time in the late 90's and early 00's, where if you were at the club and the dj played the opening "duh-duh, da-duh, duh-dunt-dunt"....the women in would flood from the bar to the dance floor and start singing full throated with the song...a dance floor that had maybe two or three people on it, suddenly had 30-40 women, drinks in hand, shaking and singing to the song. Every time I hear this song, that memory comes back to me. They'd usually follow it up with The Divinyls "I Touch Myself" which got the women even more into the mood, and then Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" or "I Drove All Night".

The best feminine anthem of the 90's. Shaina Twain was known for being one of the first rock/country artists. Her first album was very country but all of the rest after were more rock. This gave her a broader audience. She has a lot of bangers.

Patsy Cline with "I Fall To Pieces" 1961 crossed over to pop. The song reached #1 on country and #12 on pop. Dolly Parton with " Here 'You Come Again" 1977 reached #1 on country and #3 on pop. Her stepfather was of Ojibwa Native Indian heritage which is why she picked that name for her music career in his honor. Her real name was Eileen Regina Edwards when she was born .... her stepfather's last name was Twain and he adopted her and that is how she got her last name.

Yes, exactly what I said! The best part of a woman is absolutely personal to each individual woman and what they love most about themselves or find most valuable. For some it's being able to be a mother, others it's their ability to be kind and gentle, or show strength in even the toughest times or manage a household or have a great career, or both.

So Right! How can a person try to pin point the one thing that's the best part of being a woman? It can't be done. To each their own is the best way to explain it. I'm a man and i get it. I encourage what ever makes women the happiest. My best friend is a woman and her last boyfriend couldn't understand that she has a best friend that happens to be a man. He's gone now and low and behold, we are still best friends. If people don't like it they can kiss my as i was saying, i encourage women to pursue what ever it is that makes them happy. The End.

Shania is a favorite daughter of Canada. She was born in Canada, raised in Canada, and became a star in Canada before traveling south. As such she took her Canadian home grown traits with her when crossing, traits such as truthful, honesty, integrity, creativity, and ingenuity. The US did not know what to do with her at first and then succumbed. Shania and the US record industry never looked back from that point forward.

You need to watch Robert Palmer’s ‘Addicted to Love’ video. This is sending that one up… I loved the album this came from. Great fun songs. Great voice. And let’s face it, she looks killer. What most people don’t realise is that she broke thru a lot older than most people/women do, had kids, and record companies didn’t think she was marketable. Were they deaf and blind?! There’s a documentary on her abusive family life and how she had to work to get accepted, esp in the country genre when she’s from Canada and ‘older’ than the usual breakthru artist.

Shania was several years away from giving birth to her first and only child when she released this. She's a really good songwriter. As well as being stunningly beautiful, especially in the 90s, and I assume the 80s also. You should read about her life growing up--it was pretty hard, and she was working throughout her childhood. You should read also about the end of her marriage to her producer and co-songwriter husband, Robert Mutt Lang, and her subsequent marriage--quite a turn of events. She found out, after all their success, that her husband was cheating on her with her best friend. Shania and her best friend's cuckold husband started commiserating with each other and became romantically involved and then married--they are still married.

True story. When my husband and I go married, we had a small wedding as it was a second for both of us. Basically we had just family in attendance. One of “our songs” was From This Moment from this album, a true wedding classic and what was playing when he proposed. The song was played, we do our thing, say I Do and the preacher presents us and we go to walk back down the aisle of the church. The guy doing the music goes to hit the other song selected and all of a sudden we hear Shania saying “Let’s Go Girls”. We busted out laughing and told our girls to come with us (our daughters stood up for us). The poor man was panicking and we had tears in our eyes from laughing. We felt bad for him. To this day whenever any of us hears that opening line, we always record and send it to our group chat. That was 25 years ago.
