Mario Lanza how we miss you. Your voice ❤ there will never be another Mario Lanza. I watched, listened to you as a young girl. Now I’m 91 you still make me cry, you enthral me what a voice. Because Your Mine, and many many more. RIP Mario. ❤
First time I heard this man I shook my head in disbelief. There's no way in h*ll that's training that's pure natural right there that's a god heaven gift from god
Peter Farrar:- Mario Lanza's the opera star invades the leading romantic ballad vocalists domain, with the romantic ballad "Because You're Mine." As as you expect, what a performance from Lanza at the London Palladiam, by the incomparable tenor the world's number one. What a performance from the best tenor in the world without a doubt. All leading tenors who have the audacity to challenge Lanza''s incomparable talents were obliterated & cast into dark shadows of eternal silence. Golden words paying tribute to a super musical talent, by Peter. E. Farrar.
Noone coud match.Lanza could croon, could sing like an opera tenor, and could even combine both stiles in one song ("A Kiss in the Dark"). Like no one else.
I have heard this music over the years from his albums. Tonight I received my DVD copy of the movie. I ran it through my analog stereo. My god what a voice. He has always been my favorite tenor. Watching the movie, my feelings for is voice went up 100%. Great movie too.
Sound quality not great but it is wonderful to see him deliver this song with not only his hands but every feature of his face - a superlative performer
I don't think that in Lanza's case it is possible to say that his vocal prowess was inadequate. At least his teacher, previously the teacher of Gigli, never thought so, and hardly Toscanini would think so while he called Lanza "The best voice of XX century". It's true that Lanza had even greater potential, but his rejection of operatic career couldn't but affect his reputation as a classic tenor. However, his performance of Rodolfo's aria from La Boheme (Che gelida manina) is still considered a benchmark.

Notice his eyes had tears his eyes displayed his emotion.. he would put onto his singing..love him since I was boy hearing his voice gavee chills .as a boy I could feel his singing ....
You are right! By this time Lanza's health was totally ruined. He suffered from phlebitis and had big heart problems. Before the second concert in Albert Hall on January 19, 1958 he also had a painful trauma - he had fallen and bruised the left side of his chest the day before. The doctors even supposed that one of his ribs was broken. But Lanza refused to cancel the recital. The doctors insisted on applying a tight band on his chest, but Mario refused it saying that it would be bad for his singing, his voice. So he sang that evening taking painkillers in breaks backstage. But his voice sounded gloriously!
You apparently know nothing about discipline Mario may or may not have had, and what the "Studio System" did to Mario. I'd like to see what discipline you would have had if your career was ruined because your accountant neglected to pay $250,000 in back taxes. I'd like to see how you would react if your movie studio blackballed you and saw to it that nobody else would hire you. How would you react if you couldn't record or make movies in this country. Mario had a wife and 4 little children to support. If he didn't have enough discipline to satisfy you, blame the people who used him just as people used Judy Garland, Elvis and Michael Jackson. Mario was a gift to all of us. It broke my heart to see how swollen he was when he recorded this. He was already sick. But there has never been nor will there ever be again a singer like Mario. He was called a great tenor. But there has never been a baritone who was able to make these love songs come alive as did Mario. What a range. What passion.

No wonder that Derek Mannering, Lanza's biographer called his book "Mario Lanza, Singing to the Gods".
