Marty Robbins Singing Tennessee Border

- This song made the Billboard country charts no less than 6 times in 1949/50. The versions were by Red Foley, Bob Atcher,Jimmie Skinner, Tennesse Ernie Ford, then 'number 2' versions by Homer and Jethro and Red Foley and Enest Tubb. Here Marty jauntily sings his way through the old country standard.
was 5249 I certainly agree with you. He not only had the most beautiful of voices, but knew how to use it. His songwriting was second to none and he was overloaded with charisma. A special person who we will never see the likes of again.
what a great singer he was.Marty
and Hank are the only real
country singers we have
seen.
I just watched this clip and realised I was smiling during it. Marty really loved singing and performing and who wouldn't if you had been blessed with a voice and all round talent that he had?
Love marty that cheeky smile melts my heart rest in peace legend never be anyone better
tarquin, Marty was always a great person to be around backstage at the Opry. Some of his quips brings a smile to me still. One time I remember he tried to out rhinestone Porter and brought a coat with him that had almost a square inch of material showing. It was all in fun, and Marty was certainly fun to be around.
yeah really love this from marty he is just magical the best
most talented showman ever and only surpassed by that God given voice. remember comment he made on his first GOO performance after his quadruple bypass? Mr. Acuff stated he was glad that he was better (ot to that affect) and Marty (with his wonderful sense of humor) stated he owed too many bills to 'go' (ie: die). no one will ever come close to his talent!
i.like how they all fed off each other playing that song kinda like 1 uping each other FANTASTIC! hands Down best there ever was... great guy and music...
The old country music is the best not like the country music these days and marty robbins was the best and they will never be another xx..
It just don't matter what kind of song this great man sings,it alway's is great to hear that wonderful voice of this wonderful man with his wonderful band.Great job again for posting this vid.Thank you TARQUIN.
Blushing: until THIS MOMENT, I had not realized that there were CLEAN, non-sarcastic verses to this song -- all 7 of us kids loved it because our mother would always yell at our dad for singing what I now know was NOT the real thing. Thank you for the laugh at myself -- and for finally being able to understand my mom's irritation!
another great song, cheers tarquin
