- Just Marty and his guitar singing two old classic country songs. 'Letter Edged In Black' dates from 1897 and was written by Hetty Nevada. It wasn't recorded until 1925 by Vernon Dalhart who later influenced Marty Robbins and many more country singers. Other versions followed in time by Bradley Kinkaid, Hank Snow and Jim Reeves.
My mother used to sing all the old western songs that she learned when she was young. This was one of her favorite.
Beautiful singer and one very sad song .. Marty Robbins is my favourite singers off all times !!💯🌟
He is like Merle Haggard, God gave him talents and he blessed all of us with Beautiful Music! Love Merle and Marty!
Incredible voice, you are so missed Marty ❤ 😢
The greatest western singer of all timr
I loved The Convict and the Rose. I had not heard it before but it is so beautiful. Marty Robbins was one of the very best.

i have always loved marty robbins music, a unique voice, i remember the day he passed, was on my way to work,,, heard his music @ 5 in the morning,, figured something was wrong,,,,
You can't fake talent, and you certainly can't fake emotion... This is...this is the sort of music you can't 'teach' your average 'aspirant' musician who ends up on VEVOtube..
Straight from the heart.
Marty you are the best, there is no song you cant sing, we miss you.
Sad that he has past away, one of the best country singers we,v ever had.
Once in a while a persons voice is kissed by the angels, here is one who's voice was smothered in them.
I'm 30 lost my mother last year this song just broke my Hart.
Marty puts so much emotion into every song he does!

Just Beautiful !!! Marty Robbins, can sing any song, so well. Just love him !
I ALWAYS LOVED MARTYS SINGING HE IS THE BEST
A brilliant country singer people in Ireland love country music and USA has many great country singers
Best version of "Wedding Bells" comes from Eyre cain´t recall the guys name but still got that LP.
Country music has always been sneered at for its sincerity and heartwarming emotion, but singers like Marty, Jim Reeves, Slim Whitman, Charley Pride, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard to name just a few, are loved and revered around the world. Not forgetting Kitty Wells, Dolly Parton, Melba Montgomery, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette et al of the girl singers. To quote a blurb from a well known (now defunct) Sunday newspaper, 'All Human Life Is There.'
Bad modern country music is what is sneered at. The proper classic country music that Marty Robbins and similar singers like Moon Mullican, Hank Williams, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jim Reeves, Jimmie Rodgers and Elvis Presley sang is universally respected and always was and will be. Also it is common that people do not realise a lot of the old styles as country music!
and jimmie rodgers from 1928
He was one of the great balladers and its been said he's been forgotten in Nashville and thats sad. Ive seen the Marty Robbins museum exhibit at Opryland and though small every fan of Marty should see it.
He really tells the story.....you feel as if you are there. Bless you, Marty. 2018
Always liked Marty Robbins style.

Bueno Dias a Argentina a Los USA.
I agree , with Jim Reeves and Merle Haggard three greats.
D'you know what Carol? Marty has never (in my opinion) received the kudos his absolute brilliance deserved. He deserves to be on a par with Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, Vic Damone, Al Martino, Bobby Darin, Perry Como or whoever, but unfortunately the bias against country music (especially here in the UK) probably counts against him.
super music,tks.
the best the best the best
A great Oldie first heard it way back when sung by Frank Crummitt
great
I love you
Your dear old mothers dead! Wow, can't hurt more than that. I am 74 but I want my mommy!
***** I'm 66 and I want my mommy and my silver-haired daddy.
I'm almost 71 and my Mom has been gone over 20 years, I miss her so much
At 75 yrs. , I still long for both my parents too!
I too want my mommy.
I love Marty's singing, but I like Jim Reeves the best on this song.
WOW IS THIS SAD 0R NOT
The record I have of this lovely song is by Slim Whitman, have also heard another great country singer singing it Hank snow, but as much as I love Marty (he was my late husband's favourite) singing it I prefer Slims version best but all three are great.
Best tere is and never be bet number☝☝☝
Hard to listen to this song and keep dry eyes.
I hope ya'll enjoy this songs by the great Marty Robbins, to he was the best
Danny Boy
very old song by bradley kincade
@barrygioportmorien1 They are both classic
l think you are wrong The old time Cowboy and Hill Billy music now Country had a one hour programme every Friday at 5 pm pre 1939 playing all the hill billy tunes Henry Hall and Geraldo were the two main bands
Good but I think Hank Snows version of 'convict and the rose' is better
A wonderful song, but one could say that the postman in the story would be aware that a letter edged in black would contain bad news for who he was delivering it to
But then again Tar ´Hollywood reality´ rules, right ?
