This is the car for the uncle who "made it". He shows up late to christmas but he brings the best beer, gives the kids 50 bucks each, and he's always smiling.
That was oddly specific, yet incredibly accurate

In short, the Land Cruiser is everything the Land Rover should be but isn't.

Yea, The LR Discovery kicks ass! My Dad owned one 👍🏽
@@yyyyyeeeee4060 Nissan patrol is just as good as Land cruiser
The defender and the discovery are the 2 legit Land rover lines. The Defender uses aluminium on the body which is great for anti corrosion. The Defender is a pretty good car, but I agree that Toyota is better (my opinion though)

A Land Cruiser holds its value so well for 1 reason and 1 reason only: They last forever.
Their mechanicals are simple, reliable, and overbuilt. Add to that the fact they are an SUV purpose-built for offroading and most will never see anything harder than the overflow parking at the kids' soccer field and you have an SUV that has a reputation for never breaking.
I remember my late father used to be owned one petrol powered LC FJ40 and about Mechanical parts especialy reliability, my late dad really satisfied with the toughness of that car and wanted owned an J80. But, what a shame, later he sold that FJ40 because he said the fuel consumption is not efficient enough. I Still miss that car, it's really well maintained by my late father.
@@alifm40DS Sorry for you loss, and the car.

"Overbuilt" applies to these vehicles more than any other that people use that term around.
Most vehicles and their components are built to something like a 10-15 year standard. Ie, they expect all the peices, if well taken care of, to work for that amount of time, and after that it's mostly up to the owner to make extra sure they stay in good condition.
Land Cruisers are built to a 25-30 year standard. Everything is heavier and thicker. Therefor less likely to bend, break or rust through.
I agree on the reliable and overbuilt part, but they aren't as simple and barebone as people think they are. The public mistaken land cruiser series (land cruiser, prado, 4runner, GX, LX) of being too simple to break, but when you take a closer look: standard hydroboost brakes, active traction control that can do half what a locker can do, weird interior lights that you only found out after 10 years of ownership; all wheel drive (except current 4runner), adaptive learning transmission, active height control that most likely will work after 20 years, if road salt didn't destroy it. They aren't exactly simple, they are simply built different.

Toyota land cruiser J200 the official SUV of 100mph drifts on middle eastern highways
First of all, its "hajwalah" not drift. Secondly, it only really happens in Riyadh in Saudia and not anywhere else. Thirdly, they mostly use stolen or rental eco boxes like the Hyundai Accent, Honda Accord and Chevrolet Caprice (Holden Statesmen), not land cruisers.
@@Bahraini_Carguy Ah hajwalah... one of the great things about Arab culture.
8:22 The pollen filtration in the Land Cruiser is because in Japan, after WWII, there was an effort to jumpstart the timber industry. After sometime, lumber was much cheaper to import from elsewhere than processing in Japan. So there are TONS of abandoned tree plantations that churn out a bunch of pollen in the season.
@Andrew Humphrey underrated joke
Uuugh I can relate, I assume you’re talking about pine trees and we have hhugee overgrown plantations (tree farms) of pine here in British Colombia that emit actual yellow snowstorms of pollen; it’s gross; it builds up against curbs and roadsides as “pollen drifts” (you know like snow drifts but made up of yellow pollen). I’m reaching for the reactine as we speak.

These things are like arses. Everyone’s got one
So like $500 usd?
Should look at the current 80 series market here in the US. Some clean, rust free ones are going north of $20k. Specialized rigs even more than that. Considering the newest USDM 80 is 23 years old, that's a lot. But they're great - am totally non bias...
You guys buy something like 35000 of those a year. Much more rare in the States with 3000/yr.
@Andrew Humphrey daily almost, I own an '84 Nighthawk CB650SC
The Landcruiser 79 and 200 are the kings of the road here in Australia. Most of the offroad tracks on public land are open to 4x4's and we need things like hill descent, diff lockers and snorkels. Once you experience the capabilities of these things offroad, one comes to the realization and appreciation that the Landcruiser is worth every penny
Karen: I need an SUV because of tHe SpeEEd TrAPS OuTsiDE mY HOuSE
Australia: u wot maaaaaate?
I'd say, 78.3% of the Cruisers I see down here only touch dirt in roadworks. Most of the remainder go "4wding" through country that I could walk my open diffed, bald tyred, low running 97 XH through, without needing to give it all the sauce. But those cars still get the full works from ARB as the boomer owner draws on his superannuation and prays the ol'ball and chain doesn't find out.
The older models tend to be muck akin to a travelling playpen as they pay off the personal loan used to buy them with trade ins at Cashies as the misso does extra shifts down at Coles to keep food in the guts of 6 and a half kids, 'but we need it love, gotta be able to take all the kids out sometime'.
Taking a more serious note, do we need things like hill descent? I'm no boomer here, but I was taught, many years ago, about this magical middle pedal that you need to master. You don't just randomly stab it in Safeway carpark, you control it. But then again, I don't have the money to throw 25k of car down a slope I couldn't climb with a ladder, so perhaps I shouldn't talk!
@@dontnubblemebro yea i dont really know why you'd need hill descent if you have low -range in a manual 4x4 but it probably helps if you only have an auto cos riding the brakes down slippery slopes can definitely lead to issues

I love this beast, been doing my own work on it and see it as a good long term investment car wise. I just let some starbucks swiller in newport beach eat the depreciation on it for me. These things run forever, and for its size it is shockingly heavy and dives so solid I can hardly believe it.
Worth every dollar.
Other SUVs: When you want to go off roads.
Land Cruiser: When you want to come back home from warzones, hell, or even Mars.
And thats just a small commute for this thing
The best part of Monday is watching RCR, thank you Brain and Roman. You make life much better!
1:35 Like this so I can replay it over and over again.
Some of the better writing you’ve done lately, thoroughly appreciated
“It’s not a GMC Yukon sperm whale either”
Fuck that one got me good
Was just randomly watching Land Cruiser videos, as I am in the market. But what a small world.. I recognize a shot of 61 going through Port Clinton! I guess I’m going to have to subscribe now. 😂 -Rando Orwigsburgian.
Every time I see a land cruiser like this or Sequoia, always think there’s a REAL big fat girl driving it.
Since weed vapes were mentioned, avoid that stuff if you value your lungs. Weed vapes(as well as some regular vapes) often contain vitamin e acetate as well as other chemicals that can clog and scar your lungs very quickly. Self inflicted cystic fibrosis is a pretty bad way to go.
I find it interesting that he keeps saying the Land Cruiser is “too much truck” and people should get a Sequoia, when the Sequoia is even larger and heavier than the Cruiser is, and has the exact same same gas-guzzling motor.
I am the happiest man alive right now. No I didn’t get married to the girl I always wanted. She now has to wait. I Got A 13 Year Old Toyota Land-cruiser like I always wanted!
The official car of being someone powerful in a dangerous place.
When I was a kid, in the late 80s, my father had a 1978 FJ55. Loved that thing.
I wish you showed more features of this car, like the third row seats, rear AC and unique front switches and stuff
The Toyota Land Cruiser is a legend in anybody's book. Still standing tall above anything else.
I was mad that I couldn’t sleep. Now, not so much :)
If I'm ever going to run organized crime, I'm getting a fleet of J200s.
