I get wild Blue Tongues in my backyard here in Sydney. When they're scared they flatten themselves out to look bigger, open their mouth wide to show off that blue and hiss like a snake. Pretty awesome lizards and they're great at keeping the snails out of the veggie patch.

We are in wales uk, we keep our beardie outdoors in a modified greenhouse from may until october, he does fantastic , his colours are better, hes more active and generally seems happier overall, hes been living this way for years now and its been great. We also have a rescue yellow belly slider in our pond year round with no issues aswell as a hermans tort .

Couple of questions do you use a Uvb light or make use of panels that allow UV to pass through or both? Do you provide extra heat or just relay on heat built up trapped in the glass? Cheers 😊

@@thebloodyenglish6620 some of the greenhouse pannels are cut and removed in areas the lizard cannot reach to climb out so unfiltered sunlight comes in throughout the day, my garden and greenhouse are south facing so temps have never been an issue, once the sun is up and on the greenhouse its lovely and warm with basking surfaces reaching near 50c when the sun is out. then for the nighttime he has insulated hides and coldframes stuffed with hay to assist with staying at a decent temperature .

@@jadebool1906 beautiful cheers 👌 Before moving to where I live at the moment I kept most of my stuff outside, not in greenhouses though, and been thinking for in the future doing some greenhouses for rescued Bearded dragon's and only keeping them indoors in smaller enclosures to brumate them/first couple months after waking up. Good to hear your experience with it working well here in Wales even without extra heating etc!

    • @jadebool1906

@@thebloodyenglish6620 keeping outdoors where possible definitely has its benefits , I forgot to add that when we have bad weather I go out and fully close up the greenhouse to keep the worst of it out . Also do the same for winter by putting the panels I take out back in as I still have my Herman’s in the greenhouse year round . I’d recommend giving it a go . But make sure to put wire mesh down under the greenhouse so nobody digs out .

Had to bring all the snakes etc inside in the new place as it doesn't get hardly any sun so just got the turtle pond in the only sunny spot plus the amphibians outside but 100% want to go back to mainly keeping things outdoors and do some greenhouses for things like beardies 😊 Thanks for your feedback 😊

I plan on getting a blue tongue soon. I've had beardies for years, and I'm currently upgrading their enclosures. They're extremely intelligent and personable. Mine are house trained and they get a lot of time outdoors. Breeding season is crazy. My male, Rex, is very hyper, and I expect my girl, Lola, to drop a clutch of about 20 eggs. My ultimate goal is to have a setup just like what they showed you the video. They're very underrated due to such a variety of animals available now, but nevertheless, they're wonderful little creatures, and I'm thankful to have them in my life. They truly are my children. I hope you consider them in the future. Rex is a brick red leatherback, and Lola is a bright yellow and orange hypo. I got really lucky with the genetics, and I expect to have some stunning little babies from them.

Heather's creatures are beautiful. I relate to how she ended up with Bearded Dragons. As a 75 year old woman with allergies to fur and feathers along with chronic lung problems, my one and only pet is my Bearded Dragon, named Norbert. He was named by my students after the Dragon who hatched and scorched Hagrid's Beard in Harry Potter. When I let him loose in my big office, he has a carpeted staircase so that he can climb up onto a blanket covered table by the windows. Here he watches the Deer and the Wild Tennessee Turkeys gather out back in the forest. He always has a potted garden of sunflower sprouts to munch when wants his greens and his UVA-B light which I turn on each morning on my way to make coffee. He has his Fluker Super worms which I toss long distances ... and which he must find by listening for the sound of their many skittering feet. No matter what species you raise, your reptiles are your friends and your source of continual amazement, humor and Joy !

Those are the coolest skinks I’ve seen lol I have a hypo orange (subtle) bearded dragon lol they are awesome and yes! Set up some blue tongue skinks at your place. These underdog lizards don’t get enough shout out lol 🦎

Would be great to see what socialization and habitat optimization you could achieve with blue-tongued skinks. They are interesting, attractive creatures and far less dangerous than the bigger lizards. More of your viewers could keep them than could keep, say, black throat or water monitors.

You should. I have 3 pink tongue skinks and now I just got an Eastern blue tongue skink!! I have watched all your videos since 5 ir 7 years ago because of the turtles and tortoises and the enclosure building but I'd loooove to see videos about BTS too!! ❤
