  • In this video I give you a comprehensive and honest review of IKEA's Malm high bed (queen size) and IKEA's Morgedal firm mattress (queen size). You'll get pointers such as using the Ängsvide mattress protector, a Lack side table. I go into the costs and pros and cons of the Morgedal mattress combined with a Malm bed frame. Overall opinion: sturdy and highly recommended. Expect the bed to perform consistently for a long time. IKEA items 302.773.89 (Morgedal) & 690.094.75 (Malm + Luroy). Five stars *****. Highly recommended.

Kinda late but just want to add this is like the only legit mattress review on youtube. All mattress reviews are all sponsored and paid sponsors on youtube and online now its kind of hard to believe what those guys are saying.

Those so called bed reviewers on the first page of google are just pure bs. All they do is write some bs, then recommend their sponsored beds. Some of these are actually just manufacturers promoting their own beds. Only low iq people fall for that crap.

It is quite firm at first, however the center starts to sag within months and not even a year later it sagging so much that I can't tolerate it anymore. (We are 2 140lb sleepers) Looking for the receipt but return isn't as easy as purchasing as it's one of those rolled up beds. I would avoid if you need a bed to remain firm.

The Morgedal mattress will sag in the middle because this is where the main "comfort zones" are. These zones are created by cut-outs that run the width of the mattress, which create a softer area by essentially weakening the structure. The cut-outs are closer together and deeper in the middle, so this is where you are more likely to sink, and this is also the area that will wear much faster.
This can be mitigated by filling the cut-outs with strips of foam of a similar density, possibly from an unworn section of an old mattress.

  • @toucego
    @toucego 7 років тому +1

I was watching this with a smile...and the reason why is because I've choose the same mattress because of the same reasons you enunciated 😂
I went for the Morgedal mattress because it was the firm and most comfortable for me (1,83m tall/93kg or 6ft tall/something in stones or whatever pounds -heavy 😂)
I had absolutely no budget restrictions so I could choose anything and still I went for this one...and it's cheap!
Ps: delivery in the US is expensive as hell 😐

Just bought mine today - letting it air out for a bit before putting sheets and bedding on it. I too chose the firm option - it just felt right when I store-tested it. Hoping it helps me sleep better and stops me waking up with hip, leg, and abdominal pain (old mattress was a 14 year old spring mattress - broken springs and big sag in the middle). Yeah, I'm a heavy girl, so I'm sure firm was the way to go.

My partner has this bed and its honestly ruining our relationship. It's so poorly designed, if you get a soft mattress it will sink below the frame when getting in and out of the bed which feels really uncomfortable. Also ours is black and has a thick blanket draped over it, meaning I constantly misjudge where the edge is because for whatever reason it couldn't be designed to sit flush under the mattress, so the corners take out my shins when walking around the outside, meaning it doesn't work in any apartment that is tight on space. lastly it creaks really loudly after awhile, waking both of us up in the night, something a lot of people complain about. I hate this bed with a passion.

A tiny bit of sag, but that's because I'm 260 lbs, and it takes a few days for the mattress to expand to its shape, so there's always a little sag. If you're 150 lbs or less, it won't be an issue. It still gets 5 stars. It sleeps cool, is firm and I wouldn't trade it for another one. For the price you get a lot of bang for your buck.

    • @activity10cc

Obviously there are a lot of factors that influence how long a bed will last like how much fucking goes on, how often the bed gets moved, how many kids bounce on it, how often you roll over at night, etc. But I'm guessing with typical use by 1-2 people and a dog or a cat, the frame and mattress will last at least 5 years. That's based on my observation of the materials and how everything fits together. Good luck finding a 5-year review.

Thanks for the upload, I went to the IKEA store where I bought the Morgedal mattress, just took me 30 seconds to figure this was the best mattress for me (I was sick and tired of my old ones which were much more expensive).
I only saw the name of the mattress later when I looked at the order in my email. Then googled for some reviews on the internet and found yours.
What stunned me about this video though is seeing the amount of shipping you had to pay in the US.
I'm in Holland and I paid 5 euros (about 6.50 dollars) shipping. The car I was driving wasn't able to carry it right away otherwise I would just put it in the car.
The seller explained me that I could buy anything in the store and have it send home if it fits in a huge cardboard box and weight no more then 30kg (about 65 pounds).
For the money you pay to get it delivered it's probably cheaper to drive to a store if that is an option of course.
That said, fine mattress nonetheless, I combined it with my old IKEA top mattress which is an even better combination then using it on its own.

It sags a bit in the hip area. But all you have to do is rotate the mattress 180 degrees so your head is where your feet were and you have a brand new mattress. And, the areas that sag are restored and remain firm.

Just one question: Is this the foam mattress or the latex mattress? That is how Ikea describes them both. Please advise. Good review!

My slats keep falling off even though I have the 4 strouts in, what can I do?

Hmmmmm. I'm assuming you have the Luroy slats. But it should be the same for any IKEA slats. You have to make sure that you have the two end slats BEYOND the white pegs on the rails. You'll need to stretch each set of slats so that the last slat is beyond the white pegs. That secures the slats at each end of the rails. Hope this helps!!
