- Early members of Poco: Timothy B. Schmit, Richie Furay, Jim Messina, Rusty Young.
This tune evokes my own carefree summer days in Tahoe during the early 70's. Endless, languid, cobalt-blue mornings that filled each day with new friends and new-found lovers; blowing endlessly by like the white, cotton-puff clouds which formed every afternoon over the lake and disappeared before the cold, star-filled night descended on us.
Those harmonies...........
In my opinion Timothy Schmidt wrote the best songs for Poco between 1970 and 1977 in his time with the band. His voice us magical, songwriting great. I love his solo work.
Don Henley and the Eagles would have out out even better material if they had allowed Timothy to write more if their songs. But I don't think Henley's fragile ego would ever allow it. Well then, at least we have Timothy's solo work and his beautiful Poco songs still to listen to. Amazing artist Timothy Schmidt is still.
@@DMorgan72 Oh hey yeah, I have the Day By Day CD, it's fantastic. I love Simple Man by Timothy on that album. Some great lead guitar on that song by Lindsay Buckingham too ! Great album!
Poco...truly great
He is the best ❤
Tim has such a beautiful voice. If you haven't heard it yet, please listen to Tim and Jackson Browne sing "let it be me". Such a wonderful song.
Damn, they sound good.
I was at work at a terrible job to the east of Houston one day. They had me making glasses in an un~airconditioned optical lab up stairs above their optical store, I won't tell you the name of the place but it started with a T and ended with an O . I was making glasses for people(optical) & I was listening to the local Houston fm station while I was working and the I think the Eagles were playing in town that night, anyway they had Timothy B in the studio talking to people on the telephone. I walked over to the phone and dialed the number and to my surprise didn't get a busy signal, the phone started to ring. It rang about 10 times and Timothy B. answered the phone! I was shocked that I didn't get a busy signal in the first place and triple shocked when he answered the phone and had no idea what I was gonna say so I just asked him " Why did you leave Poco?" He laughed and told me that the Eagles had called him with an" offer he couldn't refuse" . I chatted with him for a couple of minutes and thanked him for taking my call and he took down my address and mailed a black and white photo to me that he had signed. I like the Eagles ok but I love Poco music a lot more. anywho that's my Timothy B story.
Timothy still has that great voice! Ritchie's is pretty awesome as well! In their day, Poco was an awesome band, and definitely one of my favorite bands! In college, about 1982 or 83, a new woman I just met in the dorm, stayed up most of the night sewing the Poco Horse emblem on the back of my dungaree shirt! How I wish I still had it! I owe that precious SUNY New Paltz woman quite a debt of gratitude! BobbyK
love you guys the best
Love that song
Poco is my favorite band... probably because I love pure country but also rock
so so so love Timothy B Schmit
How sweet is this man!! Love love love his voice. I wish he had been allowed to sing more leads with the Eagles. His voice is so precious. Fell in love with him back in the 70's and he still makes me feel like a love sick teenager today. So very talented and such a class act.
yesss.... Don Henley is a great musician.. but cancer as a human. His being part of the eagles was the worst mistake they ever made
@@charlesreid9337 But it's not just as simple as dismissing him as a cancer. He and Frey drove the Eagles; it's not the Eagles without them and their drive for worldwide domination! Your statement that "his being part of the Eagles was the worst mistake they ever made" is such an odd one. You phrase it as if they brought him into the group late like TBS or Walsh.
The ageless wonder, Timothy B. Schmit. Saw him do an even better version of this classic on Mon. 12/7/09 at Portland's Aladdin Theater. The band he's assembled for this west coast tour is every bit as musically talented as The Eagles. Everywhere one looked in the audience you saw tears of joy at the sound that was coming off that stage. No man should be able to sing like that at age 62!
now just as awesome at 70! what a music legend.
@@bachsmom3532 , Hello @Bach's Mon....is Timothy B. Schmit still living ?
@@johnsteelman1437 He's still kicking at 76 in March 2024. (and STILL sounds great!!)
MAGIC. how nice to see these guys back together again. i love those trees in the background.
His voice is unreal..........
I would mow lawns when I was 12 yrs old to buy these guys albums. Thanks for posting this stuff, you have brought back memories for this 57 yr old.
edward wright I feel lucky I never really bought any albums I had 4 older siblings so I just borrowed theirs, I just had to make sure I put them back in the right place !! :)
great memories love them !!
Wednesday # Yes I borrowed from big brother too.
Seems like their albums were frequently passed down from older to younger siblings, parents to children, cousins. Aunts uncles etc. Good songs encourage that sort of thing...
fabulous!
Such a nice guy . Extremely talented. A very distinctive voice.❤️💕🌻☮️
Beautiful.
man these guys will put of a lot of the young bands to shame. There harmonies are tight and Tim B wow! I love his counter tenor voice.
Dave
Go Go Thimot , Angel Voice !
Sweet Poco music. Folk music washing through my mind like the first time I heard it many years ago.
Timothy is amazing
I miss them so so much
I also love the thank you nods and personal points of satisfaction in the faces of the players. Tim nods a thanks to Richie and Paul smiles it up when Tim delivers.
What an incredible group of artists who have survived the tides of pop culture, music industry b.s. and economics and the personal stuff.
If the Pentagon and the Military Industrial Complex had to endure this kind of scrutiny and budget cuts and these guys were given free access the world might be a better place.
Damn he still has it
I think I love him... Tim. 😍
Makes my skin tingle. Best harmonyy of any band ever..........name one better.....
Wonderful!
This sort of thing doesn't happen often, what a monumental show to have been at. Thank you for sharing!
This is almost as great as Mudcrutch getting back together.
They sing great 👍
Good gracious, this is wonderful. I can't "like" it enough.
Many Thanks!
I love this song 30 years ago.
from JAPAN
Such a great song! One of my favorites from Poco. I was just telling my daughter the other day while listening to this in the car that I can’t believe this wasn’t a big hit. Many of their songs for that matter. I love In the Heart of the Night but, my God, Poco’s whole catalog are hits!
Thanks for posting this! Brings back great memories of my days following POCO around to see them live!
No one sings harmony like this any more--except for CSN (who helped give life to Poco through their Buffalo Springfield lineage) and America. Awesome tune and perfect performance.
Randy M. and Timothy- the most beautiful voices! Both good in POCO a the Eagles.
Great to see Timmy!
Great, good to see you all back together, I loved the 2004 DVD.
I have been a fan for 45yrs and you still sound damn good!!
Wow is right...Lost art...talent...
Brought some OLE TIME COUNTRY with Richie TBS and Jimmy
Well I never....God I love The Eagles.. and now Ive been introduced to 'Poco'...I love music so much, but sometimes I think I mustve been on a different bus...where the hell was I?? Brilliant stuff :)
I think Tim is free to pursue anything individually he wants. I think he's almost finished with a new solo album himself. I can't wait til it's released.
Timothy is such a nice guy. 🙂. 💙
I was a baby. I hadn't heard anything so sweet in my life
Jim Messina is an underrated musical genius.
Agreed. That's Paul Cotton in the video btw.
Saw original lineup in Houston in ‘69...been a fan ever since
thank you for posting.great sound as always
love you timothy 2018!
Love him
Timothy B. Schmit!
Thank you so much for bringing Poco for us to watch.
Peace
his is awesome I have all the poco albums
TBS has earned a reputation as the finest Rock Bass player in the world. Check the guitar mags, you'll see I'm speaking the gospel. With that rep, TBS pretty much does as he pleases when he pleases.
I can't see one on guitar mags
are you familiar with Leland Sklar?
Still loving this in June 24’
This is priceless. And in my hometown practicaly in my back yard. Beautiful!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Timothy B and Richie nail this one! Poco has never quite been the same without both of them.
This is my favourite Poco song (or just plain all-time favourite song) performed by my all-time favourite Poco line-up. Does it get any better than this.? Jeeez I only wish I'd been there.
Richie Furay is definitely the one in the black cowboy shirt. He looks the same as he did the first time I saw them in concert in St. Louis around 1975.
Awesome video !!
Hello, I saw this band live in Charleston, South Carolina some years ago....great band and singers....John from North Carolina.
OUTSTANDING
Awesome! ❤️
Love it
You might want to check those dates. Timothy B. Schmit replaced Randy Meisner twice - as a member of Poco in 1968 and as a member of the Eagles in 1977. The Eagles broke up in 1980 and reunited in 1994, again with Schmit as their bassist. He is still an Eagle.
These guys make us old girls scream!
Haha, you're so right!
Beautiful vocal harmony. It remind me C.S.N.&Y.
man..i never knew this was posted. so good. got a rush
Hello, I saw Poco live in Charleston , SC years ago , Poco in music terms means a slight touch....soft music.
Bones.
That sweet sweet harmony brings tears to my eyes! Love it, thanks for the music, kitnewell!
‼️ Great ‼️‼️
Timothy asks Paul what key they are in 1:07. I saw Don Henley on the Hell Freezes Over DVD turn to the percussionist to get the beat on one song. A lot riding personally and professionally in both performances. People are people even with success and big bucks. I love the Stagecoach performances as much as I love Poco Live at the Belcourt Theater Reunion DVD in Nashville.
Since I asked that question, a pickin up the pieces vid from Stagecoach 2009 has appeared on youtube. At the beginning, Richie intorduces George G and then George sings. So that means all the original members plus Paul, Jack and George L were on stage together! When Poco appears with the Little River Band and America both of those bands bring Rusty on stage during their performances. I've been told when Richie pops up unannounced, they bring him out and mention his being the R&R HOF. Kewl huh?
Although they sing from opposite ends of the musical spectrum, Timothy and Geddy Lee (Rush) are two of my favorite sopranos in the rock world.
Just let it be.....✍🔥✌
yeah rrhf for poco and the marshall tucker band these two great bands and the music they created will last for ever amen
Rusty, Timothy, Richie, Jimmy, Paul, & Jack all on stage together! Who was playing drums? George has been appearing on a very limited basis. I'll bet that was a great evening of music and memories. The flow of energy WAS SO FINE.
Crazy Love
i feel happy head over heels
Forgot to mention Paul Cotton on guitar too!!
Randy Meisner. Yes, you're right. Founding member of Poco AND The Eagles.
Good bit of info. Thanks for your insights, Crowsfan.
Hey Yokonono... You really know your stuff! Thanks for the info!
Wow!That's a real voice! thanks for the video!too bad they are not better promoted!
Got it. Thanks, CapitolaK.
Hey Kit this is a great play list buddy....good job!
Hello , I saw this band live in Charleston , South Carolina years ago .....John Steelman from North Carolina.....
Tim was not an original member of Poco. Randy Meisner was, but left during the recording of the first Poco album. Tim replaced him for the 2nd album. Randy also was the original bassist for the Eagles, then after the infamous fight with Frey on the Hotel California tour, quit. Eagles recruited Tim from Poco in '77, and so he again replaced Meisner in a band. Poco, the original band, reunited for a short time in '89; Meisner was again in Poco, and had a top 40 hit for them, Nothing to Hide.
In 2019 still love you sexy man " Timothy B. Schmit.
Fc from Thailand.

even now.
Everytime Poco takes a new direction or shows a new influence, the next Eagles album mirrors that change. Trace it down through their history, you'll see I'm right. Listen to the Common Thread Eagles tribute album, The country artists' arrangements make the Eagles songs sound more like Poco songs! However, Clint Black's Desparado is true to the original and wicked good!
Hey Kitnewell...true, Paul is not a founding member. But neither is Tim! Randy Meisner was the original bass player; bolted during Pickin Up the Pieces. Tim was not a part of that; he joined after that first album. But Paul and Tim are part of what many consider the 'definitive' Poco; the 'Good Feelin' To Know' years. Jimmy didn't play on Good Feelin;. Richie didn't play on Keep on Tryin'! but he surely knows it here! Fascinating history, this band. A Super Group, RRHOF worthy.
That would be Paul Cotton: guitarist and vocalist with Poco since 1970. Jim Messina is the guy on the left in the black cowboy shirt doing backup vocals. You're shocked? Let's see what you're up to when you are 65. Maybe he doesn't have his hair, but he's got his mojo.
whoooo
Lordy lord, the grand old Opry, had him beat!
I'm the lost combat veteran trying to find my way back
❤❤🙏
Check out the video of Ringo Starr and his all starr band. Timothy was backed up by great singers. They sang keep on tryin
Calm down boys...
Jim Messina is in the black cowboy shirt playing the Fender strat.
Paul Cotton is on the right in the white shirt playing the big acoustic box.
Timothy Schmidt is not a founding member. He replaced Randy Meisner in 1997.
No need to go any further.
