The game is made by a Czech team and takes place in medieval Bohemia, 1402. That is my country of Czech Republic. Today, in 2024, age of airplanes and globalisation, I have literally never, in 36 years of my life, met a black person in my home city (50K inhabitants). We have vietnamese (arrived in 1970s), roma (started arriving in 15th century) and ukrainian (mostly from 2022 after RU invastion) minorities though. But yeah, I would not expect to see people of african descent in this game. It would make zero sense and damage immersion and authenticity.

Makes as much sense as "Where are the white people in Wakanda:"

So interesting to see what people from different backgrounds think of this game. KCD is my favourite game of all time so cool to see new perspectives.

KCD 1 was a giant success and warhorse pulled off an incredible feat, 11 people in total worked on the first one and from my personal interactions with them they're SO sound. Now they have 250 people, I'm going to be speechless and I know 100% this game WILL win awards. They deserve them.

Hey. I recommend watchin 14 minutes showcase from devs where they are explaining what can be done in a game, what is the story and so on...

I started playing KCD after KCD2 got announced and I must say I absolutely love it so far. The best I could describe it as (to give some point of reference) is pretty much hardcore medival Skyrim. The trailer mostly showed custenes but the game itself is an RPG focused on immersion and authentically portraying 15 century central Europe. Everything to the last detail was consulted with actual historians and archeologists to make it look as close as possible to what that region looked like at the time.
You can also play in many different ways, owing to the fact its an RPG with skills that you level up by performing actions associated with them. Just like in Skyrim. Granted, its not as crazy as most RPGs because there is nothing supernatural about it. No monsters, no ghosts, no magic. Just knights, bandits and swords. Also the landscapes and towns are absolutely beautiful. As someone who actually is from central europe (Poland, so very close to Bohemia) I must say ive never seen any fictional place look more authentic to that region EVER. Walking around really feels like i'm walking in the woods close to my village where i'm from.
I recommend everybody to check it out. It will not be for everybody but there is a good chance that if you're a fan of Bethesda's games and are interested or curious about medival european history you will absolutely love this game.

The game will be just in first-person view, just like the first game. The combat system is based on the first-person view, so no changes are expected here. The game is also based on historical accuracy. So no black people will be there, I assume. Warhorse doesn't play the inclusion or woke cards. In 14th-century Central Europe maybe some in numbers counted on one hand, but more likely in places like the south of Spain or the south of Italy. Actually, there is a merchant in the pub talking to two people in the first game. You can hear the conversation. He told them he had seen black people in Venice on his travels. They don't believe him at first, asking if they were just dirty or something like that. They don't even believe that Venice is built on water. In the end, they say he's full of shit. But Kumans are in 100%. They came from where Kazakhstan is nowadays, I think. They came from Hungury where they have settled to fight for Sigismund of Luxembourg. So if anyone from Bohemia (Czechia) has seen a black person, then it was in foreign countries or maybe just in court in really rare case. Its really worth playing the first game, even for knowing the first part of his storry. The pesent thing is more like grow from pesent to knight kind of thing.

I'd maybe argue that there could be black people in Kuttenberg or in Prague as some traders or something like that. But a black guy just living anywhere this far north in Europe at that time? Very unlikely

@crossvolts what do you mean lack of ethnic group in first game? Germans, Bohemians, Cumans/Magyars, Tatars and maybe some others not mentioned directly. Dan Vávra, developer of both games said that it's going to be more diverse so expect other ethnic groups, but no blacks. His reason said on X - There were few to none black people. And those few who could have been (it's not even certain if really) were high standing officials thus not making contact with a bastard from Skalitz.

@crossvolts btw bohemia (czechia) is central europe and not eastern and actually in medieval period it was super close to western europe and basically identical to them.

    • @AltakJelen
      @AltakJelen 5 місяців тому +2

Just to clarify. You can not argue much. Im from Czech and I pay close ettention to KCD and Warkorse for some time. They have historians as consultants about this period. They just know better... The focus on historical acuracy is heavy. The only thing that goes aside with acuracy is game desig. Something like how big doors, gates, stairs are etc. So its playble in good way. As I mentioned above african, asian or meadleeastern ethnicities were not present much here. Merchant traveling over months from africa to Kuttenberg sure :-D. The distance was much bigger back then. No phones, cars, planes nothing. Most people walked everywhere. As I said Identity politics is not a big thing in Czechia. I would even say its considered as DUMB by most people. Not many people here care about what companies like Ubisoft put in their games. Assassin nuber 20? Yeah wont buy the same shit game again. No inovation no nothing just generic stuff again and again to squeez money from you. Then Larian produces master piece like Baldurs Gate 3 and generic producers of games cry and scream in hate that its not new standard. Then they announce 4A game that gest samashed to the ground by players and it more like 2A. So if you want to see what central europe looked like in 14th-century in Bohemia with no bulshit, robust and hard combat, epic storry then go for it. This game wont hold your game. I bet it gets rating 8 of 10 or more. If youre not sure try KCD 1.

Kingdom come Delieverance is the best medieval game emulator for players that really wants to learn History, truth be told Henry (the main char) is fictitional but the other personnel involved in the game is real people that lived in medieval late ages when gunpowder started to do their first stepps, In Bohemia the historical events were real, as the living way of the people themselves, for example if the armor got wet you need to visit a blacksmith or do yourself the treatment to not get rusty if it does you take more damage, a system of food and the food living duration if the character eats spoiled food gets diarreia, and losses alot stamina, if the player is dirty and in movies only shows people dirty but in true, medieval people cleaned themselves alot time of the day, only a real bath was few times because was considered a luxury, due to baths had alot perfumes, workers wenches and ofc prostitutes do those who could afford, but peasents would clean themselves and clean their clothes and had decent knowledge of medicine that some of its uses were lost even nowdays since was natural treatment and well effective, good regards guys have fun with your gameplay.

One of my favorite games and rpgs
Took a while for me to get into it but once you get the combat its a whole new game
But it did feel somewhat floaty and sluggish so i like how the attacks look more snappy in the second one

just a heads up about this game.
this game is more meant to be a simulation of medieval life.
    so first person only.
as well as very in depth mechanics.
as example, alchemy for instance is not just collecting stuff, and then selecting a potion from a menu.
its actually a sort of mini game, where you actually have to read the recipe from a book. put stuff in a cauldron, grind stuff with a mortar and pestle. and then boil it for the correct amount of time.
its very in depth, but because of that, also very immersive.
