Nice video!
I was a wheelie hooligan in the late 80s on an '83 XL600. That XL was the easiest bike to wheelie, could do 5 gear throttle feathered balance jobs, literally for miles. Wheelies on the street are considered reckless operation, which is a huge ticket. I had a job with a company provided car that I would have lost if busted, so I sold the XL before the cops caught up with me - they wanted to have a chat a few times, but I didn't stick around! Got a CR 250 and a bunch of other dirt bikes after that to ride off road on.
Flash forward to today, I have a Rottweiler Performance tuned '23 701 Enduro with a Yosh can that I dual sport on. My 701 has a lot more power than the XL did, but being ride by wire it has very little engine braking. As you did a great job of pointing out in the video, the rear brake is critical to have down on the 701, it is a little like doing wheelies on my 2 stroke dirt bikes, which have almost no engine braking.
Regarding the engine braking on the "690 platform" bikes, I live in Colorado and sometimes ride 4x4 trails with epic up and downhill runs, the sometime miles long descents at I dunno - 10% grade can really tax the brakes to the point that the fluid can boil. Nerd note for 690/701s that see off road with long downhills - leave the key on but turn off the kill switch to kill the partial fueling / ride by wire, and experience big rig class engine braking, which is great on those long downhills. I do like the light engine braking for normal riding though, glad KTM/Husky tuned the braking the way it is, because with a near 700cc high compression piston, the engine braking can be insane.
The old XL had a lot of engine braking and I could literally control that bike easily with just the throttle. The XL was a lot lighter in the front end too, the initial lift on the 701 is a lot heavier, but once up it balances nicely. 61 now and not as nuts as I used to be in my 20s, but I have a still unoccupied new business park near me and can go about 1/8 mile on a 2nd gear wheelie on my 701. The loading ramps are fun for jumping, stairs are great fun too. Old hooligan habits die hard 😆
To anyone having trouble lifting a 2021 model, try stiffening your suspension to 10 clicks each side, previous owner had the bike on 20 clicks + and it prevented wheelies
did u mean by hardening it, rotate it to the right side or left?
What about 2016-2018 or 2019 do you still need to adjust the suspension for those?
My biggest trouble currently is finding a quiet bit of road with a decent surface to practise on! Dying to wheelie my 701. Cheers for the video
This is my issue too. I wish I could find a good practice area.
Same. I have to ride 20 miles away, to the other end of the city to get to the big empty parking lot...
Cheers, George Russel.

I'm doing good. A lot happened, moved a few times, been working a lot, I will be back at some point ❤❤

Oh! A bumblebee. Nice and good advice man!
Great video
awsome vids keep 701 wheelies coming thx for ansering me about gearing
Nice looking bikes but what i was thinking is if they make an aftermarket set of rear plastics, cause the stock ones seem too bulky, maybe some much smaller shorter rear plastics would made it even hotter..
All I ever wheelie in around town is first gear! 🙋🏽♂️
I love it lol (but I’m a lil crazy)
Ive been wheelying sports bike for years and about to buy one of these but these look so much easier to flip out 😅
awesome video got my wheel high of the ground in one day on ktm 690 smcr good tutorial
day 2 now
doing clutch up wheelies getting kinda high but not super high like in the video longest wheelie was a few seconds
Only the Intro..... 🔥999 nice video
If you got Instagram check out my page in the description, got 999 on my wrist 😁
I can do 2nd gear wheelies with my KLX230. But it requires full throttle and perfect timing 😅
I've always found I needed to be going about 50kph (31mph) to get the front up with a simple twist in second gear. I'm curious how you manage it at such a low speed. Are you pulling up on the bars at all?
Nope, just twisting the throttle and it comes up :)
I was wrong after watching your video I went out and tried at slower speed and was surprised I could pop it at low speeds with some practice
I’m having the same problem as you rohin. Can’t get the front tire up that far with just throttle in second
@@dietrying98 sit further back in your seat
Just do it!
Great Vid. I am having problem with the 2nd gear power wheelie.....on a 2021 model with map2 and TC off, I just can't wheelie like you said in the vid!!! I am still learning this but is there a particular RPM or speed range that works best?? Or any other tips perhaps? I can slip clutch though....Thanks a lot.
15-25 mph works best for power wheelies just to get a feel for lifting your wheel off the ground, if the wheel doesn't lift try going slower, if it still doesn't lift be more aggressive with the throttle and if you're still having issues try experimenting by dumping the clutch.
Start with low rpms just to be safe, if it still isn't lifting give it more on the throttle until the wheel lifts then work your way up from there.
It's a lengthily process, took me a long time to be able to keep the wheel up or even lift it off the ground, you will get the hang of it :)
@@ReevyMotovlogs Thanks, will try it.
What all gears can bring the wheel up?
Hey man loved the video, just bought a 2018 701, my question for you is do you need to turn the abs off using the triangle button on the left of the dash to whellie ? I read when the light is on it means traction control and abs are turned off so you can whellie. Can you whellie with abs on and off. Does the bike have the ability to know when the front wheel is off the ground and disable the throttle ?
Does anyone know what kind of exhaust dude has?
Nice video btw fam, be safe out there 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
great vid mate!
Thank you bro 😁
So on newer models mode 2 and traction control off? Or can I leave tc on?
Hello, sorry for my English, I just bought a 701 from 2021 and CANNOT lift just with the throttles
Heard a lot of people having issues with the 2021, not sure why, if it's completely stock though that could be an issue, my 701 has a lot of mods.
did you solved this issue

do you seat in the back of the bike? thanks a lot !! i would like to try but dont like usethe cluch!!
What speed for 2nd and 3rd gear clutch ups?
I can confirm that model 2020/2021 has something different... I had a 2017 and it would lift like yours does. Now on a 2020 it can't power wheelie a 2nd gear... Something is really wrong. Time to get it to the dyno I guess...
I have a 2021 enduro and in either map it comes up straight away in second and 3rd off the throttle with a pull if that's any help.
did you solved the problem
you're on chaseontwowheels new video!!
Holy smokes 👀 watching it now!
Is this stock sprocket ? I coulndt do 2nd gear wheelie
Where do you sit?
Can u do power wheelies on 3rd ?? With the 701???
You can do them in 4th 🤣 but you don’t want to power wheelie, clutch up instead you get way more control.
GREAT
Thank you 😁
Is it good experience if you can wheelie a normal bike to a dirtbike or a supermoto?
i think so cos it can be a bit too easy to wheelie these bike and might be intimidating! So for me I think these are easier but harder to master and harder to keep safe.
hey u off TC or abs???
*Hey Reevy, where did you get the Akrapovic exhaust from? what website?*
Came with the bike 😁
How far back are you sitting ? I can't seem to lift it without the clutch 🤔
Not far tbh, I don’t really have to sit back much
@@ReevyMotovlogs I'm gonna head out on it in a hour or so and keep trying..maybe I'm just bitching out lol.
Y do u need to hold clutch wen wheeling
You don’t, you just pop it to get the wheel up, it’s better than power wheelies as you have more control or cover the clutch if you plan on doing a coaster so you can pull it in :)
First of all nice video! How do you get the front wheel up in second gear without clutch that easy? No way my huskie is coming off the ground in second gear by just opening the throttle. Do you ride the stock 16-42 or did you change the sprockets?
Stock sprockets
@@ReevyMotovlogs Thanks for your fast reply. I am doing something terribly wrong than I guess haha. I guess I will have to practice more xD
Also thank you for the kind words, just takes some getting used to, you’ll get it :)
@@jillg1017 hey im having the same problem it wont come up, i have to give it like medium gas but more than he did and pull hardly on the bars that it goes up. im practicing all day and yeah 2 out of 10 times it works
I reckon you guys dont have a power commandr for low end power.
How much did you pay for the 701 ?
It was a gift
oi you legend ;)
The bike is full stock ?
No, mods are in the description
@@ReevyMotovlogs my full stock 701 from 2021 is impossible to lift just with gas, is it normal? Even with Map 2 and TC off ...
I’ve heard a lot of people having issues with the 2021, no idea why tbh I’ve never had problems lifting it up in second with just the throttle on any bike
@@ReevyMotovlogs And I, who bought this motorcycle precisely to succeed in lifting ... And I get to lift the DRZ to my brother just on gas while it has 2X less HP
@@nolastnameprivate2081 too soft suspension
How fast are you going to clutch up in 3rd?
Depends, anywhere above 30mph
Why no mention of using the FRONT brake to bring the wheel down? If the bike rise’s to fast a finger on the front brake lever brings the front down due to the rotational mass off the wheel slowing, less aggressive than the rear wheel ( where the power is generated) old mx standard riding style,
It’s dangerous… if you’ve still got that lever pulled in when the wheel comes down or it’s not rotating at all… not good. ALWAYS use the rear brake, that’s all you need.
hello :)
Hey 😁
I'm on a 2022 Husqvarna 701. I assume I have to turn off TC Traction Control to do this right? Else the bike kind of tries to stay on the floor itself, preventing ot make a wheelie?
