I stopped buying stuff so that I wouldn’t get to that point. Decided the stuff that o liked and stuck with it...for the most part

Pomade goals
The first pomade I got was 'johnnys chop shop pomade'. It's made in the UK (where I live) so I don't know whether you can get it in the US. If you get your hands on it could you review it? I don't know how good or bad it is.

Brylcreem is almost exactly Wildroot. So it is more of a hair tonic instead of a pomade.

You could sell these. So they don't go to waste. People would buy the used ones bc some of them are limited edition. All the unused ones would sell too. Don't let them go to waste!

It would be cool if you did a give away with the pomades you no longer use. I just started using pomade and am trying to test different types. Also I have very thick hair and am looking for a very slick/oily pomade. Any recommendations?

...I just have Dax Wax and Layrite Super Hold. Dax works great, Layrite I'm not as much of a fan of. My girlfriend doesn't like either though cause my hair is too sticky when I use them, obviously.

Yeah that stuff. I just call it Dax Wax cause it's easier and it sounds cool. Been starting to think that pomades/waxes in general are just a waste of money for my hair though. It's pretty straight when it's short but as soon as it starts to get longer it just gets curlier and curlier. I can only control it with the strongest of products and I need to use so much my hair starts to feel just gross.
Do you use a blow dryer? I stayed away for along time because my hair is pretty naturally poofy and thought a blow dryer would make it worse, but after experimenting it's pretty essential for shaping and straightening or adding rolls where I want. I'd suggest trying that out, maybe with a pre-styler like a grooming spray or BluMaan's Original fiber cream.
Garrett McGrath Really? That's cool I don't run into a lot of guys with naturally thick, poofy hair like mine (probably because everyone on youtube is white with thin, straight hair). Do you use mousse or sea salt spray? I've heard those are good pre-stylers, but haven't actually bought either of them. Right now I just use some curling cream for when my hair starts to curl though. No hairdryer either, but I've been meaning to buy one.
Haha I know what you mean, most pomade reviewers and hair grooming youtubers have perfect straight locks which is not my hair type at all. I am white but my hair is thick as hell and very poofy, so ymmv on this advice but it's what has worked for me. I've yet to use a mousse but a friend of mine has used sea salt spray a bunch and likes the finish it gives his hair, don't think it's enough to be used as a standalone product. It can make hair a bit stiffer though, and I know mousses and other such things can help to smooth hair out, with thick poofy hair a smoothing mousse or spray, applied to towel-dried hair and then blow-dryed a bit might be the way to go. If you're looking to avoid stickiness, I'd also check out some unorthodox water based pomades, which don't get sticky and hard like gel-types, or greasy and thick like oil based. Blackship is one of the most popular, and for good reason, heavy hold without much of a gunky feeling, and not much shine to speak of. One I just tried is Compass by Templeton Tonics, super creamy and left my hair really soft. You could also try some clays, which aren't as sticky as pomades. Nostalgic's clay is the softest I've tried so far.

Bluesy Jay thank you for the info. Groom & Clean is identical to Score, which they no longer make. So many old school men's hair products that they used to stock in every shaving section have disappeared. Top Brass, Protein 29, Wildroot, Vaseline hair tonic, Score, the different varieties of Brylcreem blue and green logo etc, makes me nostalgic.
Its strange but facinating to watch. Kinda like a woman with make up....but a guy with pomade. Id rather watch this though. 🤘👌👍
