Nice review! I love 4 inch quads, and this one looks sweet. There are so many things that can be causing the jello. But I found that silicone is too bouncy and doesn't really dampen vibrations well. And if the silicone dampers are too soft, they'll make make the jello worse. I would replace them with TPU dampers. Tri-blades will be a little smoother, so they are definitely worth trying. Sticky battery pads are cool, but they're so soft that the battery always seems to wobble around. That tall TPU GPS tower is cool, but it might be contributing some vibes. I'd print a GPS mount for the battery strap instead. I got my Holybro Kopis Freestyle 4" with O3 jello free with perfect stabilization, but it took me months to get figure it out. I actually made molds for dampers and poured silicone of different shore hardness, but none of them worked well enough. Finally, I resin printed a 60% Resione K ABS 40% Resione F69 cage/mount and it worked perfectly. Using HQ 4x2.5x3v2s props. GPS is on the battery strap.
Hey Justin, Great video and review of the GEPRC LR40. I sure like how the 03 works great I just rebuild my Explorer 4 lr. I like that the GPS is in front so the vtx is not blocking the signal. Thanks again for the video and information on this quad.
Great review Justin, looks like a pretty nice setup outside of more jello/vibes than I would have expected. It would definitely be interesting to see what you come up with to clean it up when on a 3000 li-ion pack. I’ve been “preaching” rx antenna up front for a long time, only thing better is diversity.
is the connector xt30 or xt60?? in teh geprc website says xt30, but it looks like xt60 and your link for the battery is xt60 connector, thats why im asking!
I just put my Tern together last night and can confirm it came preinstalled with a XT30. The llumineer battery link is for a battery with an XT60. I would like to see the long range battery link updated with a battery that has the right connector.
I’ve been away from drones for a really long time and am wanting to get back into it and I’ve always wanted to do long range and am seriously torn between the Tern and something like the moz7 and the reason is because I have zero desire to strap a GoPro to either when I would be able to record in 4k though the O3 unit it’s self, having said that why would someone want to run a 7” over something like this when from what I can tell the flight time is pretty close and due to the price difference between this and something like the moz7 you could pick up 3 packs for the tern and about 65 dollars worth of extra props for it for what you’d spend on the moz7 alone. Due to its much smaller size and weight if/when you crash the smaller drone will have much less inertia and would probably fair better in most cases because of it at least in my mind. So having said that what would someone be missing out on going with the tern over a true 7” drone?
Thank you so much for this video! I just purchased the analog version which is great but I’m confused about the included GoPro mount. It only has 2 ears on it rather than the typical 3 that GoPros slot into. I’m not sure how to mount it. Am I missing something?
Great review thanks Justin. These tiny long range uads are taking over. Which is cool for those with weight limits in their countries. 😅we fine here in RSA
I am building a rather light 5” that should come out around 30-40g heavier than this one with 2203 stanfpv motors. I might get good efficiency from the larger props, we’ll see. Thanks for the great in depth review
@@gadgestlab i love it. However all of a sudden started to get a warning saying that RC signal is critical and it kicking the fail safe on which is around 200 meters away clear line of site. it was not doing it before and I'm flying the same path. in the GEPRC site says that for my drone which is the "GEPRC Tern-LR40 HD O3 Long Range FPV" the receiver for 2.4 elrs is "GEPRC ELRS24" so when in ELRS configurator and i want to flash the receiver (not the controller) the options are "GEPRC Nano 2.4GHz PA100 RX", "GEPRC Nano(SE) 2.4GHz RX" and "GEPRC Dual Diversity 2.4GHz RX" do you have any idea which one is it?
Great review! I just got mine, but the "manual" is vague in spots! Did you use the m2-6 or m2-7 to attach the props? I got 8 of each..but theres no information about which to use for the props.
I can confirm that the numbers for the 3000mah battery are legit as i have this drone myself, but it was expensiv with o3 and problems at customs it was 720€ from china to eu for me 😢 and i need to say that everybody should take this thing with crossfire as i have it with elrs and with the 25mw for the goggles only that are allowed here in eu i have only a range of 50m when i wouldnt use the fcc hack for my goggles 2. Now that i know that i would take this drone with the maten 2.5w #analogisnotdead 😊
The CB 4 was my favourite quad ever. I have the tern but feel it needs some mods to maximise its platform. Diversity should have been standard fitment. Still need to push the GPS RTH with Betaflight 4.4
Why GepRC doesnt offer diversity with such models is beyond me. Small price to pay for the additional security with long range models. Diversity would make this model perfection for me. Now I simply have additional expenditure to sort the model. Also why the mini mortal when the previous CB4 had a full size mortal??? A step backwards for me.

Thanks for great review. Do you know if there is a chance to replace the preinstalled 1w vtx with Maten 2,5w without extra soldering?
Does it have a barometer like the Flywoo LR4? I would like to be able to read the altitude.
Sweet, GepRC is really top notch. I love my Smart25 HD. Justin keep the videos coming bro !

How do you put an external fan on your quad? I have a chimera 7 w a 2.5w vtx.
Yes depending on the vtx power

hi justin, i see the screws in the propellers, what size are those screws because I don't think they were included in my package, are they the M2x7?
Just put mine together last night. Use the M2x7mm. There should be a bag with 8 of them that have blue locktite pre-applied.

Any betaflight tune recommendations or screenshots?
does anyone know what the max payload is?
Anyone make prop guards for this? I tend to fly around a lot of tiny branches ..
Vibra un poco el dvr?
Hey Justin do you know the range in the Tern LR40? Who far can I fly it.
Easily 3 Miles I’m sure
@@dronecamps wow,nice, thanks
@@dronecamps Haven't really flown quad yet, Weather been crazy here, Have hover in house only, Thanks again for everything. Peace

Try the gemfan 4024. Might solve some of the jello.
Those fans are not compatible with the motors that come preinstalled on the Tern.
It's like the new version of the baby crocodile 4" drone
Yep! A little lighter and streamlined

Don't load drone you reviewing it's a cinewhoop thing
