i think once a system has it's store taken down, it should be fair game to mod the console, i fully understand the reasoning behind not wanting hacks when it's in its prime. it becomes impossible and extortionate to try and get games for consoles like this.
Necro, but I agree. The system is no longer made alongside the games, so nothing's being threatened outside of nintendo's ego and maybe the microscopic amount of digital sales.
I used the Pichaxx method to mod my 3DS last year. It was a bit simpler than this method but most of the steps are the same. I love my 3DS. Modding it is absolutely essential.
The question is: When Nintendo comes after this video, will we see the follow up videos covering the legal battle? Or will this be dropped the moment they try anything?
He didnt pirate a game. And emulators can run non-nintendo software so they have no legal right to said software. Even then, Muta will normally try and own an legitimate copy of a game he is emulating (example Astral Chain) so he has a "license" for it and he can save it, back it up where ever he likes legally. As long as he isnt selling ripped files or modded DS's for cash. Nintendo legally cannot do anything. (Also nintendo shutting the eshop for it in 2023 basically means every 3DS is effectively "abandonware" in the eyes of the homebrew community because nintendo is notoriously bad at offering legal means for folk to buy and transfer thier purchases legally.)
@@Makorze If they're merely the catalyst for the hiding of the dislike count, I'm sure they'd wanna get rid of videos that do so much as criticize them. The only reason they don't do that is because of the backlash they'd face should they do it.

@@Training_Wheels I only say 5 minutes because it's just dragging and dropping files onto the SD card. Not much to do to mod the system. It would probably take on average 15-25min.

The 3DS is such an incredible system, man. I’m hyped to create my own menu theme for it along with maybe some stickers for the cover! …I also wanna enter a Splatoon 3 tournament with my 3DS just for the heck of it
I was so afraid I would screw this up for the longest time that I waited exactly when the eShop closed so I'd have no excuse. And I gotta say, aside from the sheer number of steps looking daunting, the steps themselves are very simple. It really is easy to mod/hack your 3DS.
What I really love about having a hacked 3DS is the ability to dump/load save files from games installed and physical cartridges, load them up on an emulator to keep playing the games on a big screen and vice versa. Used that quite a bit. :3 And there are many more interesting features, like running old 3DS games with the performance enhancements of the New 3DS, fixing the framerate/performance for a few games,t hough some games become unstable with those active.
Recently hacked mine and didn't know you could run old 3DS games with performance enhancements on New 3ds! And fixing other technical issues. Where is info on how to do that?
I used to be into PSP modding. It was fun getting Windows 95 to barely run before it crashed the PSP. And just being able to download games or borrow a friend's games and copy them. Untold Legends: Brotherhood of The Blade is one of my favorite games
I bought a 3DS for the first time this year and I did all this during my vacation. It was like a childhood dream come true. And I mean, if the eShop wasn't closing, I wouldn't do it. But the games are extra expensive here in Brazil. 30~50 USD for used games, 50~80 USD for "new" copies... On a 200 USD/month minimum wage.

The devs of the 3ds hacks guide updated the guide so now this video is now obsolete. EDIT 2: As of May 23rd 2023, this videos method WILL NOT WORK on old 3ds consoles if you have updated them to 11.17 before modding. Change your "nipple analog" stick on the 3DS to a PSP analog stick (I forget which version 1000/2000). It has better movement and is much easier to use. Plus is actually comfortable. Being someone who got the 3DS when it first launched and being disappointed at first with the launch games. Then being rewarded with the Ambassador Certificate, giving you 20 free games when they made the 3DS XL a year later. Getting 10 NES and 10 GBA games no one else got was really awesome at the time. It’s so amazing seeing 3ds modding community evolve. I remember in middle school 2014 wishing I could hack my 3ds to get all mythical Pokémon, but being upset I couldn’t because I had an updated 3ds firmware for which the exploit didn’t work. Oh how times change😂
Had to use that hacking guide recently, I didn't know the console was still receiving patches, so I had to work around a newer version to region swap a Japanese 3ds LL. Absolutely worth doing in the end, the homebrew tools add so much more charm. Having access to e-shop content again with those tools is keeping alive the titles that just won't exist anywhere else.
I've been too afraid of bricking my 3DS, so it's yet to be modded. Mostly due to not trusting whoever wrote the instructions and such. But after watching Mutahar videos so often, damn, I've always been impressed with how much IT and gadgetry he knows.
Trust me it's not easy to brick your 3ds. The only way I know is through using god mode 9 using the key combo and uninstalling haxx. I personally reccomend using the pichax method as it requires less steps and gets you the same modded result.

Love those websites for the ds and the psps and stuff, makes it so much easier for folks that don't understand all that much! I never would have been able to mod my dsi without it.
That was lots of fun been a long term fan from the creepypasta days, and idk there is cool to me that you were able to help me finally softmod my 3ds. Been wanting to forever, but only found the game exploits, so thanks for the awesome video.
To those of who are too scared to even TRY jail breaking your Nintendo 2DS, trust me, it’s easier than you think it is, unless you’re a total dumbass. I’ve hacked my Nintendo 2DS only last year in like December or something like that, mainly to play ps1 games and other stuff, and I’m only 12, and I did that all on my own, and although it’s only mines, I knew I should’ve hid it from my big brother. I even hacked my Nintendo Switch as well, and I now have a bunch of nes, psp, ps1 and gba games on it, accessible from the home menu. Hacking the Nintendo Switch was easier ngl. Trust me, I am NOT lying about ANYTHING here.
It's ironic to see Mutahar promote established titles, who provides misleading advertisement and their service is the same as "buying a star". I think that's what you would call a scam At least he's not Coffeezilla, that would be really surprising then You don't own any land, not even a tiny piece. You can also call yourself a lord even without them Edit: Something I missed is that, they put a lot of their money into charity. 8 million at this point, and if that was fake the whole charity would be fake. The advertisement is still misleading, and when you think about it it's a lot better to invest directly into the charity. Regardless, I guess I now like Established Titles because doing a little bad is good to do some good (might be pointless... I don't know. Climate Change is pretty bad) If you are pretty smart, you would invest directly into the charity, especially because Established Titles will keep some of the money to themselves. The charity is called Trees For The Future. Is it legit? Charity Navigator says it is, but they had not been able to evaluate their impact. That's all I know, the rest you can research
All of this action menu talk makes me feel like I'm watching a LittleBigPlanet tutorial. "Choose the Stickers option with the ACTION button from your Pop-up menu. Good jolly job, Sackboy!"
I've hacked mine and my brother's 3ds over the years. The process takes a little bit but as long as you follow the instructions, it's super simple. Both times were a very different process though, so make sure to use the site in the future so you're using the most recent version

Just hacked my 2ds XL last wednesday. absolutely fucking absurd and i highly recommend!
This video's release could not have been better timed. I ordered a 3DS like a week ago and it arrived earlier today. As I was unboxing it, I happened to check my YT recommendations and here we are lol.
Coincidence? I think not!
THEY CAN NEVER TAKE MUTAH DOWN💯
hoorah
Nah they can't take down our powerful indian tech support overlord!
I hope to see James Corden sent to North Sentinel island one day to be a cannibalistic offering. Imagine how many hungry tribal children he would feed.
Never understood these, because really they try, at least that I know of.
You mentioned doing this a while ago and I'm really glad that you're doing it.
I hope to see James Corden sent to North Sentinel island one day to be a cannibalistic offering. Imagine how many hungry tribal children he would feed.
My tech illiterate ass will never do this out of fear of killing my 3ds somehow
i think once a system has it's store taken down, it should be fair game to mod the console, i fully understand the reasoning behind not wanting hacks when it's in its prime. it becomes impossible and extortionate to try and get games for consoles like this.
Necro, but I agree. The system is no longer made alongside the games, so nothing's being threatened outside of nintendo's ego and maybe the microscopic amount of digital sales.
I literally just did this! It was the first system I ever hacked and was surprisingly so easy!
Not funny.
There are tons of tutorial videos on how to do this. I highly doubt Nintendo is coming after Muta. I hacked my New 2DS like two years ago.
this is completely legal btw, the illegal part is pirating the game, just buys the game and dump it yourself.
It’s nice seeing Muta make a video about 3DS modding. I modded my 3Ds months ago, and it took a while to go through the steps. But I’ll tell you if you decide to mod, it’ll open doors to a lot of opportunities. IMO, it’s a great deal.
I did this a while back and it was one of my best moments with the 3DS. I felt like a child, I felt like anything was possible. So please if you haven't hacked your 3DS do it!
Thank you for your content muda. Watching your videos is throughly enjoyable.
Sometimes yeah!
I loved modding my 3ds, its been modded for a couple years now. Takes 5 minutes to do. Now I've got 1000s of free games on there ranging from NES to the 3DS. It's good that you can still play Online too.
5 minutes if you're familiar with that type of stuff. I don't know the first thing about modding/jailbreaking/ect
@@Training_Wheels I only say 5 minutes because it's just dragging and dropping files onto the SD card. Not much to do to mod the system. It would probably take on average 15-25min.
@@PopADoseYo
15 - 25 minutes if someone is familiar with that type of activity. I've never done anything of that nature and would most likely just get frustrated and throw the game boy at the wall
@@Training_Wheels Oh that stinks. I found it pretty easy since the website goes in order of how to do everything. Nothing frustrating about it, anyone with a 4th grade comprehension level could easily do it.
@@PopADoseYo
Well if I do decide to try, and then I happen to fail..
Then I will acknowledge that am as smart as a 3rd grader and will beat the living sh1t and p1ss out of my game boy pocket.
It will from then on be called a
"Game boy rest in pieces all over the room" 😬
I don't even have a 3DS. I just enjoy listening to you, Muta
As a modder never thought the day would come where Muta does a tutorial how to install Luma3DS...
Man. That first bit sounded like an earth 2 promo
I don’t have a 3ds, nor do I intend to hack one. I was just genuinely entertained by this.
That would be me, if I had one of course.
Ur childhood must've sucked without a 3ds lol
The Nintendo 3DS is a homebrew JUGGERNAUT. Been using it for weeks and it is the best. Homebrew your 3ds if you haven't already.
Weirdly enough hacking my 3DS was super fun, like more than playing the games.
I hope to see James Corden sent to North Sentinel island one day to be a cannibalistic offering. Imagine how many hungry tribal children he would feed.
Really? Cool! Good for... You?
Happened to me as well, cfw on consoles is like a drug for me
modding the actual games is even more fun
I felt the same! I felt giddy the whole time I was doing it. I want to buy another 3ds just so I can do it again.
Muta I’ve been going through major depression lately and your videos have been keeping me afloat.
Why do I feel like I am sitting down listening to my father talk about something I have no clue about, but am interested just for the pure fact of doing it together
Man, I remember modding the DSi back in the day. Good times.
Your grammar is... Questionable.
@@Avaitor_YT Yeah, it's actually good, and not poor like most YT commenters.
@@Avaitor_YT your profile pic and channel are questionable
the fact that you can charge a 3ds with a nokia 3310 cable says a lot about nintendo.
Ain't No Way 😆
this ad did not age well lol.
Did it tho
The dashes! That is where I went wrong too! Thanks Muta for being the only place I have found this device.
I have no idea why I watched this I I have never even tried a 3DS but , I enjoyed watching this. Thanks.
The devs of the 3ds hacks guide updated the guide so now this video is now obsolete.
EDIT: As of April 9th 2023, the 3ds hacks guide has updated again for the new 3ds consoles so now this video is only outdated for those consoles.
EDIT 2: As of May 23rd 2023, this videos method WILL NOT WORK on old 3ds consoles if you have updated them to 11.17 before modding. If so, you will need to use R4 cards or some older method like Ninjhax to mod it. New 3ds' are still working through web browser exploit.
thought i was going insane man
@@tfxckz quick note. NEVER use videos to install CFW and only use the official guides provided on 3ds hacks guide as they're always up to date. You can watch the videos to see an example of installing but don't follow them.
@@Luca06Luna yeah i noticed while i was watching this, thankfully i’m on the right track at the moment

@@soratots Dude, did you see the original title of this video? This shit is click bait following the trend of videos titles "Nintendo will take this down.." that was started by LTT. Just go to GBATemp.
As someone who's been following the softmodding scene since the PSP CFW 1.5 days, it's easier to follow written instructions than videos. Seriously, I've been following this stuff before I was even in high school. If I could hard mod a PSP battery, you can soft mod a 3DS.
That intro aged well huh
lmao
The 3ds is probably one of my favorite systems. It has a decent library of games. Good battery life, everything about it. I modded my 2ds xl recently and I'm enjoying it.
Sounds like your inner Herbert the pervert is unleashing at 2:55 🤣
wish I watched this before hacking mine. nearly almost lost my saves. managed to get everything working in the end, but this would've made it alot easier and quicker.
If Nintendo takes this video down the earth would split in half to not see muta angry
They won't its him have a overdramatic title, that's it.

I modded my 3ds a couple years ago and it was easy and allowed me to play the games I couldn’t play when i was little.
I soo wanted to mod my old 3DS when I was a teen (13-15) but I needed the online usage. And i think you needed a 64gb memory card which was pretty expensive at the time. My 3DS now is so busted in some parts that its just not worth to mod too..
@@Martin-yh7vi I mean i did mine at that same age range I was able to mod mine okay the 4gb micro sd was good enough for a while but you are right about the cost because i didn’t have a job then and had to buy an adapter and I got a 32gb micro sd which cost a decent amount
I remember looking up tutorials on how to mod it early on, but not finding anything I actually wanted to do. I'm so glad it's easy to do this and this tutorial explains it perfectly. I can't wait to transform my "New" 3DS XL into a modded beast. Been waiting for this!
It's amazing how you can make a tutorial video about something that means nothing to me but still make it fun and interesting to watch!
Do we need a Nintendo anti-piracy screen for this?
the fact it somehow got easier is insane 😭😭
@C0mnuts-c7i how do I homebrew it without a pc, just with my phone

Now because of muta we will never get the Dr Mario remaster we've begging Nintendo for since the N64 era... Thanks alot...

i coincidentally just did this recently too, very funny how us brown gentlemen are so likeminded

Lord Muta has a ring to it.
If I had to critique one thing, is that Muta never mentions this video and others like it are never
the be-all end-all. The guide site will always be more reliable, but most importantly. Up to date than any videos
That sponsorship aged.... well 😅

Pirate everything. Don't hesitate.
I've been too afraid of bricking my 3DS, so it's yet to be modded. Mostly due to not trusting whoever wrote the instructions and such. But after watching Mutahar videos so often, damn, I've always been impressed with how much IT and gadgetry he knows.
You’re fine. No brick risk
Trust me it's not easy to brick your 3ds. The only way I know is through using god mode 9 using the key combo and uninstalling haxx. I personally reccomend using the pichax method as it requires less steps and gets you the same modded result.
WHen you are speaking so fluidly and clearly, that I can still perfectly understand you when watching the video at 5 times speed.
I originally didn't mean to watch it at five times the speed, but I love playing with that addon, and I was just surprised how well I still understand you at 5x

This brings me back to the days of using an action replay on my DSi to get everything on Pokémon haha
OK but quick question

It's ironic to see Mutahar promote established titles, who provides misleading advertisement and their service is the same as "buying a star". I think that's what you would call a scam
At least he's not Coffeezilla, that would be really surprising then
You don't own any land, not even a tiny piece. You can also call yourself a lord even without them
Edit: Something I missed is that, they put a lot of their money into charity. 8 million at this point, and if that was fake the whole charity would be fake.
The advertisement is still misleading, and when you think about it it's a lot better to invest directly into the charity. Regardless, I guess I now like Established Titles because doing a little bad is good to do some good (might be pointless... I don't know. Climate Change is pretty bad)
If you are pretty smart, you would invest directly into the charity, especially because Established Titles will keep some of the money to themselves. The charity is called Trees For The Future. Is it legit? Charity Navigator says it is, but they had not been able to evaluate their impact. That's all I know, the rest you can research
I’ve heard that established titles is a scam, that being said can’t blame Muta or anyone for that matter for taking them as a sponsor
All of this action menu talk makes me feel like I'm watching a LittleBigPlanet tutorial. "Choose the Stickers option with the ACTION button from your Pop-up menu. Good jolly job, Sackboy!"
I only find the Clever ones funny, with all being said ya did well.
