- This will show you how to fix that leaking sunroof drain tubes that leak in the trunk of your Camaro. It is really a bad design by Chevrolet and they could have come up with something better and it really a very inexpensive fix.

Brilliant solution....in 2024 this video is still helpful!!! Fixing this on her 2012 SS this weekend! Thanks!!!
you're so welcome...
Just noticed the same problem a few weeks ago on my 2011 ss, headed to the store to buy shrink wrap instead of tape lol thanks for the video I'm tired of a wet trunk!
So far mine is still holding strong, good luck and you're welcome.
Yes this is definitely a bad design by Chevrolet and honestly should be a recall with as many people that have issues . Especially with all the electrical and safeguard issues with customer property. The fix is still working for me now to move on to fixing the blending door on the Air Box. $19 PART but they want $600
Honestly there are several things Chevy could have done better. I guess they are trying to make this Ford Country lol.
Here I am, watching this to try this weekend.
Good luck, this should fix your problem. Let me know how it works out for you.
You can buy 3m heat shrink with glue in it so when it shrinks up the glue seals up all of it. This is a good idea.
Doing this tomorrow. Thank you so much!
Your welcome, mine is still holding strong. Good luck
@@Blueline125 thank you 😊
Mine wasn’t disconnected but was still leaking so I checked to make sure it wasn’t clogged(it wasn’t) then used your shrink tube method hoping it seals it water tight.
Hope it works out for you.
Tried this today. And the blow dryer heat worked just fine. Praying this is finally the solution.
Terrible design
Problems with 5th gen
- Fuel Pump
- Blend Door
- Cheap Sunroof Water Drain
What was GM thinking? 🤦🏼♀️
I sure agree with you there. I had to fix the blend door as well. I should have made another video. I saved a ton of cash doing it myself without pulling the dash.
Had a problem with the blend door as well, I have a fix for that and it saved several thousand dollars in labor. I have recently traded this beauty in on a Jeep Rubicon for the wife. so I really wasn't interested in posting the video I made. Others have done this fix where you use a hot knife to cut the blend door out from the driver side floor board. It was not all that hard, just search for it in You tube and don't be afraid to tackle the project. it was not that hard at all and it cost me around $30 to fix it.
The blend door was around $25 and some black silicone and you will be back up cooling your ride in about 3 hours tops.
Thanks for the video. I’m about to try this, how did it end up working for you?
It fixed the issue perfectly.
Can you help me with something. My girl has a V6 with no Sun roof and she’s getting water in her truck. Any ideas on what the problem might be?
I would check the deck lid seal first. Make sure the wire harness isn't pinching between the rubber seal when closing on the right side. Water has to be coming from somewhere. If you have to get a flashlight and crawl inside while it's closed and get your girl to turn on the water hose and see where it's coming in. If you trust her enough to let you out...lol. good luck
@@Blueline125 thank you so much. I was thinking that might be it but I’ll try the water hose if necessary. She will let me out because she cant get away from me when I do get out and chase her down in her V6 against my upgraded LS3 😁
@@Notmostofyou lol, go easy on her now lol
@@Blueline125 lol..maybe 🤔
Flex tape and forget
Flex Tape is expensive, but it might get the job done. It will look like crap, but it might just work. Good luck
Could I use a lighter ?
Yes I assume you could, but be careful not to set your trunk on fire lol. You might even try a hair dryer it might get warm enough for the heat shrink. Good luck and be careful if you choose the lighter, I would have a fire extinguisher handy just in case lol.
I tried that before I found this. Didnt work. I even tried using pool pool lube to keep any water from moving back through and zip ties just snug.
Not sure I'm understanding what you mean, but if water so got through after you used shrink wrap then your line is stopped up. Try blowing it out before reapplying the fix.
What's pool pool lube?
@lorita nikolovski well, he is master of the universe, but I'm not sure what he is doing in the pool, probably something illegal , but most likely it won't work on a Chevy on this application, but I don't judge lol.
Man go check your tail light, those water all go tail light that part, I did same thing as you, but tail light broke all time
I haven't had any issues with my tail light, if you are seeing water in your tail light I would think that your truck deck may have an issue or clogged. Get you a pipe cleaner and clear the trunk deck drain and see if this helps.
Been having this exact problem. Both problems actually, the tube and the tail light. Had tried electrical tape before but like he said, after some hot summer days that failed. Going to try the shrink wrap. The tail light it seems has just started happening lately tho. I’ve had it go out twice in a couple months and the bulb was busted this last time..
