the perception that the extra plastic bits are "waste" is driven by how much GW likes to charge for a relatively cheap material. the extra bits are there because selling two of the same box and sprue is cheaper than selling one copy of two different boxes.

If your details are looking soft, you may want to check your print settings. The first thing that comes to mind is to disable anti-aliasing, or perhaps you're over-exposing. The Mars is capable of much more detail than you give it credit for and it prints just as crisp as machines that are released recently.
I’ve dialled in my setting as much as I can (I’ve done several tests!) but I do tend to expose for slightly longer than optimal. I find I get more successful prints if I just over expose, and when time is of the essence (when making videos!) I can’t afford for prints to fail. Even so, with optimal settings my printer (an OG Mars) is nowhere near as sharp as GW models. I know the limitations of what I can get out of my machine 😊
They look really good, I couldn't tell the difference with some paint on them. The true test would be to try and play them at Warhammer World and see if they notice!

Surprisingly nice turnout on the printed lads, thought the leaner legs and smaller mask would look too janky next to the kits own models, but it’ll easily pass the 5’ rule. Definitely helps since GW pulled a GW and made it so that the kit doesn’t even make a complete Veteran Guardsmen Kill Team (4 bodies short of 10 guardsmen AND the ancillary support which consists of 4 additional troopers)
Should of just made a resin cast of each of the bodys, Then you could of had all 3 options for each guy from the one sprue. The casts have all the detail still there & its cheaper than printing ;)

The daemon prince model kit has enough spares to build two full princes if you make or buy a second pair of legs
this video is the reason I got three boxes of the DKoK once they were up now I just need to find the STL files needed
Basically if u can afford a printer you get extra models is what I’m getting from you
Where did you find the body files? I'm looking everywhere. :/
Huh have a bunch of the kill team sprews might give this a shot
Great video. Can you please share the link to the 3d printer files, thanks
what's that in the sky ? oh a GW pigeon carrying a cease and decist order.

Nice mate! I skipped kill team but that should be usable for other kids, right?
Ace idea just got this kit. Need a 3D printer now lol.
Just found this channel and it is a treat!
They look really good, I couldn't tell the difference with some paint on them. The true test would be to try and play them at Warhammer World and see if they notice!
Isnt warhammer world the museum? Can you play there?
@@damnright1968 Yes, I was there a few years ago and there's a big section of the building dedicated to the game with many decorated tables and a forge World store accesible to everyone.
That would be the real test! But I’d take the originals if I were playing at WHW. Their venue, their rules 😊
the mars pro is honestly one of the best machines, just play around with the anti-aliasing setting to help sharpen the details and remove lines
It’s the original Mars, not the Mars Pro 😊
As for the scale, why didn’t you just reduce the figure size a few percent in Chitu Box?!
I noticed the 3D prints were a hair shorter and I couldn’t I unsee it lol fun where’s Waldo type game at the end for me
Surprisingly nice turnout on the printed lads, thought the leaner legs and smaller mask would look too janky next to the kits own models, but it’ll easily pass the 5’ rule.
The initial cost maybe but resin printer is super cheap to run afterwards
Or if you don't got a 3d printer you could do what we used to do and scatter the extra arms and equipment over the scenery and in shell craters and splatter them with gore.
Wow - really clever and they do look great!
Thanks! Really easy, uses up all the bits and means I’ve got all the options!
Love the video...I do the same with almost all my models, I just hate seeing those weapon options go to waste
Really cool man! More bang for your buck :D
Exactly!
One more reason to get a 3D printer. I don't think I can put it off for much longer!
Great idea, just amazed rhe GW police haven't shut this one down yet. They seem proper against community printing their own.
Oi! Dem orks is well shooty! Good fing y'uv given 'em some more 'umies to squish... Waaagh!
Hahaha! Love it! I’ll definitely be getting dem filthy Orks painted at some point, don’t worry 😉
As an ork player most of my bits went into other boyz. I honestly feel bad for people who play imperium armies, those bits are basically just going to sit in a drawer.
The 'PS' in Corps (or Korps) is silent. 😌 It's French.
ehm no, it's the very same word but in german "korps", like the "Deutsches Afrikakorps" ("Krieg" means war in german, and their uniform is based on WW1 german trench troops).
@@bbnmkm Erm yes, Corps is French, and yes, the PS in Korps is also silent.
I put the word Korps in parentheses because I wasn't suggesting it was also a French word, although it also has it's origin in the Old French language.
Ben, you Sir are a Wizard!! $10 for a base GW model is just stupid! Huzzah to the fans!!
Hello there! Where did you get that awesome paint rack you have in the wall?
Imagine. a monthly subscription to official GW STL files.
God.... I really need to get a 3d printer :P nice work man!
I’ve had my eyes opened to the possibilities! I got it to print the odd piece of terrain but I’ve used it for so much more!
Great video! Would love to see these model being painted in a video 😉
One of my friends has an Object Scanner as a tool in his Workshop.
And we have a lot of GW minis.
Guess who isn't buying any GW stuff anymore?
@@rrxyzrr well you need a good scannner and the results are more than good. The only problem is... it costs more than my last two cars.
I love using Blue-stuff to duplicate bodies
I like it for duplicating smaller bits but I’m not a fan of making ‘two part moulds’ with it.
@@BenjisHobbies aye, it takes practice. I'm getting good so I can duplo bodies to use spare weapons and to duplo heavy weapons - so my sisters of battle from the starter box can use the heavy flamer and MM that come in the regular box as well.
PLus I bought one demon prince and I'm copying his body to make a prince for each chaos faction
HEads are the hard thing to duplicate with this technique though. Super hard
Can I ask where do I find the Krieg bodies you downloaded? And who made them?
Can anybody tell me what's the spray he is using after applying super glue?
If you're looking to optimize your printer, give us a call in the Crusade of Gamza
The 'P' is silent. Korps = Core not corpse. 😉
Cap
Is a very easy option, thanks!
Very welcome!
I've Done exactly the same thing last week ;)
Flippin Brilliant
Thanks 😁
On allot of kits ive been re-casting bodies for this reason. id like to 3d print stuff but am having an issue with finding files online.
So many arms and guns left over. I need a 3d printer lol
