Queen Latifah really was one of the faces of Black romcoms in the 2000s. If she ever goes back to doing movies again, would love to see her in another romcom. She’s gorgeous 🖤.
My moms died of cancer this year (Jan 2024). She never got to retire or enjoy her saving. When I got the money she left me, i balled out. Responsible me should've invest &/or flipped that money but i thought to myself " the money can be earned back. My time on earth cannot". This movie is a reflection of that. People, i recommend taking those trips, spend time with your loved & liked ones, experience fun & new hobbies, do whatever makes you feel alive before you're not!
This movie saved me in a really dark time in my life. Georgia really inspired me. Since then, I’ve been to 20 countries, I’m more confident, married an amazing man, had a baby, and live like every day is my last ❤
I've heard that whenever rich people see a black person with money who's not a celebrity doing things they can do, they always question who are you and why are you here. Why can you afford to do the things we can do? That's why I think Matthew Craigan and the group were so focused on her. The book of possibilities was her manifestations. She ended up doing everything in her book. I love this movie. Good storyline and Queen Latifah doesn't miss. I love that it was set in my home state, Louisiana.
One of the podcasts I listen to covers romcoms and they did the math that the money she spent on her trip was completely covered by the money she won in the casino. Whoever made this movie actually paid attention to the details. One of my all time favorites ❤️
YESSSSS!!!! You said it right there, always feels like a nice home cooked meal on a cozy night with something warm to drink lol. A nice grandma hug. We love the Queen!
I just watched this movie like two days ago. It was one of my favorites when I was a kid, but as with most things, my understanding of it changed in adulthood. When I was younger it was the transformation of Georgia’s “why me?” From a self loathing reflection, to a realization that she was deserving of everything she got. In adulthood, the part where she was looking through her book of possibilities and crying hit different. We grind so hard and endure so much that we tend to feel like we don’t deserve nice things. She’d cook these immaculate meals and have a lean cuisine for herself, because she didn’t believe she deserved more out of life. And man. That’s heartbreaking, but so inspiring as well. Thanks for the vid!
Georgia's storyline and background gives a insightful and articulate representation of moving on and live life to the fullest instead of sitting around feeling sorry for yourself as that doesn't get you anywhere. 😍😎💯👍🏻
I dont even like the snow however, this town was so pretty and the hotel chef's kiss. Overall good movie with a good message. You gotta live as much as you can.
This is one of the few movies I’ve kept on DVD. Queen Latifah was way underrated as a rom com actress. Last Holiday & Just Wright are an undefeated double feature!
This is my favorite move of all time!! My mama had it on DVD and I would play it almost every night. Just the whole plot and seeing her character get to experience life is just sooo refreshing 😍❤️
I love this movie and always think of it when Christmas goes around. She was balling on all that money and i thought about that too as a child. However, with all the happiness and connections she made overseas i think recouping all that money is no problem. Plus that lawsuit!!
I love this movie so much. It's a sleeper hit. I watched on DVD when I was younger and it wasn't until my homegirl and I were talking about it that I realized just how good it was and that it had an a good impact/impression on me. Such a feel good movie.
I saw this movie in the movie theater back in 2006. It was simply marvelous. Very tiny from beginning to end. Prague is actually one of my go to places to visit one day.
I was literally about to rewatch this, I loved it so much, this timing is perfect. I miss Queen Latifah so much. I wish she were in more fun romcoms because she is honestly so funny and so talented. This movie is like a cozy holiday hug.
I love this movie so much! ❤ I never get tired of watching it. Queen Latifah really shines here. The story has a very good theme as well. Tomorrow is not promised so we should live our lives to the fullest.
I love this movie! Kudos to the editors and continuity team, because on repeat viewings, you will find that so many plot points were shown, explained, and completed for other characters as well!
I am so glad you did this one! I truly love this movie and I watch it every year at this time. Like you said, it’s a great reminder to actually live and enjoy life instead of just surviving. A great reminder right before a new year comes!
I loved this movie! I put off watching it for years (as I have done with a few other movies and then regretted it😂) I finally watched it and cried my eyes out. Queen Latifah deserves all of the flowers and so much more💐💐 Such a phenomenal actress.
My wife & i stayed up past midnight & watch this movie the other morning & we enjoyed it. Here comes the fun facts: Jascha Washington was also in Enemy Of The State, Big Momma’s House & Antwone Fisher & Marlon played by Mike Estime played Risky on Everybody Hates Chris. You forgot to put the pop up on him. Next week’s review is Bad Santa.
I just watched this as this one of my favorites and you do this the day before my birthday, thank you god! I’m very much like Georgia and I’m learning to live life to the fullest and enjoy more, speak out more, and laugh and love more, cherish what you have and fun fact, Chloe and Halle are her sisters kids! Loved the reviews as always!!
This has always been one of my favorites. I never thought of it as a Christmas movie until now lol. I’m going to watch this again soon. I lost my mom and been balling out since. Life is too short to wait and this movie taught me that lesson. Live that ish today.
Queen has been an icon and inspiration my entire life. She was always portrayed as the bigger girl. But she was so confident and fabulous and I aspire to be like her. Truly love all her movies she never does me wrong.
God i love this movie man lol the chemistry btwn Queen & LL was so palpable, i was kicking my feet the whole time. this just reminded me to live w/o regrets again 💞
Happy Holidays!! I don’t know how I didn’t know this hint. I remember this movie a little bit in terms of clips but I don’t remember watching the whole movie. I wonder how much she saved as well cause she was spending like there’s no tomorrow. Well in a way, lol. I do appreciate the message about not judging others due to the fact that you don’t know their story. Definitely reminiscent of the late Chadwick Boseman. Self care is always best and use that PTO!! As for next week’s review, all I’m going to say is BS (absolutely love The Mac Man)!
I'm surprised there wasn't a fashion looks counter in this one. Cause Queen and Ms. Burn ate DOWN. I've had that brown dress that Ms. Burn had at 9:38 etched in my brain for 20 years. Cause that look???? Indescribable
one of my favorite performances and movies of all time. Just a great and fun movie with a very dignified and nuanced portrayal of a person who has lived caged by caution for too long. Queen Latifah deserves her flowers
I just watched this movie and it was so delightful. I was afraid there was gonna be a big consequence scene for her spending all that money and I’m glad there wasn’t. Just a happy ending. I will definitely be watching it every year now.
What i love about this movie is Georgia doesn't become mean after getting rich. In Most movies, whenever the protagonist gets more money, they usually start acting like a selfish jerk and abandoning their friends because they think they're too good to hang out with them anymore. Here, Georgia not only stays true to herself but also encourages the people around her & makes new friends. And the only reason she pushed shawn away was because she didnt want to burden him with news of her death. Not only does it makes her more likable (and avoiding a trope i dislike) it's a great message on money and selfcare.
Yay! One of my mom’s and I’s favorite movies. And the best part is we can watch it anytime of year. I admire the hell out if Georgia and I loved how even the most corrupt people (minus the main bad guy) respond to her kindness, generosity, and her ability to call them out on their behavior. And her friendship with her favorite chef (forgot how to spell it. Sorry) was my favorite part of the movie. It was natural and enjoyed how they bonded over their love of cooking and food. I felt the relationship with Sean and Georgia is one exception to the (how I would describe it) “insta love” trope due to what they learned about each other through observation. I can believe why they like each other. And how they got the restaurant together in the end: aww! I will stop now. Just love this film.
I went to go see this movie with my Dad in theaters lol. I always wanted to lay in the same bed as her because it looked so comfy lol. Maybe one day. Thanks for the review.
Can we just give Queen Latifah her flowers for a minute💐 she was really a staple in this acting game!! Every film she was in was a hit. Since it’s holiday season can you please do The Perfect Holiday and eventually Dream Girls
I love this movie. I watch this movie when i am feeling down or when life kicks my behind. Watching this more reminds me to you only live once and you have one life to live.
This movie inspired me to take my first solo trip. I even got to say the famous line “Did you see me blink?”🤣🤣🤣 I love this movie so much it is a holiday staple for me
I feel like she was probably in her early 40s, and probably never once lived beyond the meager means we saw, and in the 90s/00s, saving was a lot more feasible. My guess is she could've had at LEAST 750,000 For reference, finance ppl say you "should" have a million in savings by 45 (lol as if)
Shawn flew halfway around the world and climbed up a whole mountain just to get to Georgia. Now that's a special kind of man.
CLIMB THE MOUNTAIN!!! ‼️💯
Climbed that mountain like Sheila to get his girl!

She seriously is a RomCom Queen! Pun intended!
Everyone loves the Queen 👑
Just right needs a part 2
She did a new Movie on Netflix Called The Equalizer
This movie taught me that people will try to limit you, even life will to, but never limit yourself.
15:58 Georgia’s pockets will be just fine after she sues the hell outta that doctor!
Lmao that’s why he packed up and moved to a monastery!

Sorry for your loss 🫶🏽 You got to enjoy the money in ways she didnt so it was only right that you balled out a liitle.
@@forthenostalgia Thank you for that
Rip to your mom. Its a blessing to have a parent leave behind resources instead of debt. I hope you get to do all the things she was unable to
Sorry for your loss but I’m glad you’re able to enjoy life and live to the fullest ❤
Sorry for your loss.

That’s so amazing to hear! Wishing u continued success and u’ve just inspired me to book that 4th solo trip right now! Happy holidays! ❤

Wow that’s amazing! 🥹 Blessings to you 💜

With what happened with UnitedHealth and her denial through her insurance. Childdddddd.
I know 😂. Perfect timing
I just said the same, like oop😳
I was thinking of the SAME thing.
Exactly!
Love this movie!! That man loved her so much. A plane? A snowstorm? Don't even matter 😂
He loved him some Georgia 😂
@@forthenostalgia Brittany did you mention that holiday movie "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York"?

I feel like she was probably in her early 40s, and probably never once lived beyond the meager means we saw, and in the 90s/00s, saving was a lot more feasible.
