And Marko retired January 2021. jukka was the o.g. drummer but retired from active drumming for a behind the scenes role. The snowman was an animated film still shown in Europe. The original had a 12 year old member of a boy's choir singing. Tarja did a lovely version. Though she has since compared her singing then unfavourably. But one she knows what she wanted it to sound like and what it did. She shortly after this returned to the music academy to home her singing. The style often called operatic ( wrongly called) is a different sub genre of classical called Chamber music in English. However to my amateur ears it sounds wonderful. Tarja ( Taa-rr-ee-a) has a masters in music. A discography as a solo star as big as Nightwish's entire catalougue ( bigger?) In 15 years then they do since 96 when formed with her as lead singer ( until October 21, 2005. Helsinki Finland at the end of the Once upon a tour) celebrated their 5th Album Once. Both Tarja and the band are doing very well and making music. Tarja's project Outlanders in the making since 2014 is out. As is her auto-biography Singing iny Blood. Well worth checking out.

Marko joined in 2001. I love both versions of this song...what I love about the live version is Emppu's solo! They could have let him go a little longer. Like in their cover of Pink Floyd's song "High Hopes." Emppu really shows off his skill on the guitar!
Great reaction to this magical song. It's amazing that band at time of recording this performance was only 4 years old but they are already top-notch professionals. And for almost half of those four years guys were in army and Tarja was in academy. The song is played and performed just beautifully. My favorite moment in song is Tarja's perfect crescendo with just right support 5:37

You can find a connection to Tuomas's world of thought and how he combines things by watching the movies Snowman and Nightwish's movie Imaginaerum. They both feature a flying snowman.

When that DVD was released,, that was the first time i actually saw Nightwish live. Before only knew their music from the CDs of course. I still love this concert so much till today, especially this song, "Swanheart", "Dead Boys Poem", "Deep Silent Complete" and "She is my sin". I also like the style and look of this concert way much than for example the "End of and Era" concert. Of course i also dislike the name of the one and what the meaning behind that was. Oh and for Emppu, he does that often that he plays the vocal line first in his solos, even in "Ghost Love Score" for example. Else, if you check out "Swanheart" from the same concert, there is a part at the end where Tarja sings together with his guitar, thats also really fantastic. You really must check out that song.
The Snowman is very beautiful, I`ve watched it every Christmas since the first time it came out in the Finnish television. I`m not sure if it was in 1982 when it was released, I was 11 at the time, but soon after that, I think. The melody line in this song is so beautiful and Tarja`s voice gorgeous. I agree. All three singers have their strenghts. Floor can do operatic vocals and hit those notes but I have always found Tarja's operatic voice stronger and richer than hers. It also has this dark tone I really like.

'we want more' is correct. Finns basically always chant it, even for Finnish bands, because in our language it doesn't rhyme well, it doesn't sound that cool and it's either too complicated or too short. "we want more" / "haluamme lisää" or "once more" / "vielä kerran" I think I just gave my first little finnish lesson to someone 😀
