I don't think Jarkko will join Nightwish. Nightwish said they will continue with session bass player, that is not him. Jarkko is the leader of the band, and has always done his own thing. Jarkko also has a tour booked. But I would really love to hear him sing with Floor!

while Jarkko is a great vocalist, I do not think his vocals would fit with Marko's unique styles that have made many NW songs what they are,and I have not seen any indication that his Bass skills are near that of Marko's.
You don't have to be an exceptional bassist to play Nightwish songs. The singing is probably the more important aspect. And if you can replace Tarja with Annette and Floor, all very different singers, why couldn't you have a singer who sings differently than Marko?

It depends on if they want to keep the same style, or want to go for something different. I think the voice of marco is very unique and it is very hard to find a replacement for that, so it's probably better to go for another style. The only thing I hope is that they don't take someone who can only do death growls, it doesn't fit the NW vibe
I never heard of Jarkko before, so maybe he deserves another listen, but judging from this performance alone I sincerely do not hope that he’ll be a part of a new Nightwish sound. I don’t mean to be rude or hurt anyone’s feelings, but I absolutely cannot stand his way of singing. I’m fully aware that whoever is going to replace Marko’s vocals, it won’t sound like Marko. That’s okay. I once joked Geddy Lee would be a good replacement. He’d be very different, but he’d be able to pull it off (again, I was joking, it’s not going to happen). However, if this would be the type of voice they’re going for, I don’t think I could listen to it without me wanting to pull my nails out. Quite funny to see how Walking In The Air became a staple in this genre while in Scotland it shifted to a Christmas ad over the years... While we have no clue who they’re going to replace Marco with and Jarkko has his own band, it’s not entirely unlikely. He already shows enough prowess to handle his repertoire and plays bass. And yes, other commitments might be a challenge but we’ve already seen other bands do this. Also, mind Nightwish has a history of surprises.
