Hi Kyle Love your videos. I do ride ons in Australia for a hobby also. My bench is messy when I am working (and after also) and I am retired. Those keyboard experts love to give you their wisdom and half probably are just to bone lazy to do anything other than criticise. I say ignore them or they will get you down and instead just keep doing what you are doing. Don't even give the acknowledgement to them and just do what you do.... Mal
Kyle you need to keep a eye out for a cheap air hammer. When those rear tires are stuck on the axle like those were, you can put one of the blunt bits on the air hammer and put it in the center on the axle and use it and the wheels and tires will come right off. It would also bring the drive pulley right off as well.
Nice job, Kyle...way to stay with it when it would have been easier to quit when things weren't looking great. You remind me a lot of a family friend that lives in southern CT, and just like him, your work ethic is SOLID! Don't listen to anyone that tells you differently. Your channel numbers are growing, so you are obviously on the right path...keep it up!
I quit sales last month and keeping everything until next year, it’s going to bring more or at least a fair price 😊, just be fixing them all winter and repairing chainsaws 😊
I wish I never got rid of my 30+ year old LT1000 only put a new battery in it once over 10 years. Now my 3 year old cub cadet already wants a new battery. Old tractors are 10 times better than the NEW GARBAGE made now.
That Touch N Mow has a strange starter system that winds up the starter when you shut the mower off. You hit the lever it cranks the starter over the next time you start it. The problem is that you get one crank and if it doesn’t start your pulling the recoil anyway. They are pretty rare and they didn’t make them very long. Usually they don’t work by now. That’s a good engine on that Cubby. I was hoping that it wasn’t a Kohler Courage, lol!
Nice job figuring out that pulley you added, to make the belt work correct. I don't think I would have thought of that Because I don't have pulleys like that sitting around so good job. And I have taken apart my 2001 MTD Yard Machine transaxle and they're very simple inside. There are quite a few UA-cam videos on how to service your transaxle. Mine needed shift fork, detect ball and Spring, and also 4 bearing sleeves for the axle shaft and grease, and that was it.
I didn’t film it well, although I mentioned it- there was a large crack in the trans by the left axle. It was trashed, and not worth saving. I’m glad I went with a swap
How many kids toys has you lawn tractors found over the years? My son's all grown up now but I still remember the tell tale sounds of something getting it once in a while. You have a lot of patience, I do what you do but with chainsaws mostly.
@@Kylebythecreek definitely is the fun part your videos is what got me interested in doing this type of work my self you have an awesome rest of your evening Kyle and can't wait to see you're next video drop I'll be watching always
This is one of the reasons (I’ve learned the hard way) it’s a good idea to give repaired equipment a really thorough shakedown. Way better, in this case, than having a pissed off customer comeback due to excessive smoking during their very first use back home!
I think sometimes you get way ahead of yourself, skipping over the first steps, which in this case was the transmission. I wouldn’t assume it’s a lost cause, even with holes in the case, until I’d investigated further. Who knows - it might have been able to be salvaged and saved you some money! See my next comment.
I always want to know why things fail so I can add to my body of knowledge, so for me failure analysis is a huge plus. For your next video, maybe pull the original trans apart to see exactly what’s happened.
Nice job i keep forgetting to make a video of that statesman I bought
Could be first. 21:30 Gmt will be watching at leisure.

You should do something about the compression
Always do more about compression, got it!
Nice work! I see you still have that Winco!
Yep….still have it. Takes up so much room too
You should get rid of it

Not a bad haul for $30 for each of those mowers Kyle by the creek

Thanks Mal. I really appreciate that!
just a thought the fluid was probably drained out of that transmission before it was shipped
It’s a requirement to ship now and some times they check them 😢😢😢
Can’t blame them, who wants oil on the floor 😢
Thanks! I’ll check

I need a bigger air compressor too. My air compressor is tiny!
loved the video. Felt your frustration. Never to long to watch good video
Glad to hear that!

Should bring 600 at least in our area in Texas 😊
Nice! I can’t stand those MTD FNR transaxles I literally had piles of them in my yard! Works out good when you know what you’re doing keep it up!

Great job Kyle. Real ingenuity on the transmission! Hope you get a good return on it. One of those self propelled mowers should get your $150 back

I’ve heard of those types of starters, but I don’t think I’ve ever had one! And yes, I’m glad it was a Briggs and not a Kohler courage on this 1170
Thanks a lot for your video love it, I am a small engine mechanic also and that was a good job.

I went with a reliable transmission instead of the broken one. Figured that was a good choice.
