Thank you David for taking us along with you on your chase, and then sharing this wonderful footage here. It is just amazing how something so destructive can be so beautiful. Thankful you are safe! -Anaelien
Thanks for sharing the footage of this David! As my favorite chaser, naturally I was watching you live that whole time. I really couldn't believe you were talking to the weather channel while filming and driving in reverse as that monster approached you. You did a hell of a job and sorry about that windshield!
Thanks for posting this. Awesome coverage. I was in the white van that passed by at 3:34.
U were in a big white van that said "FREE CANDY" And were gonna put the kids in the tornado! Cruel people.
Great footage David. We were probably the car turning left onto the road at 8:18 - saw the power flash and heard the waterfall, decided to leg it... footage coming soon (taking me ages to get round to uploading!)
As usual great job David
Great video David!
Tornadoes always leave me in awe.
Its anthony from the stream.. excellent video david
I watched David stream this tornado live on May 16th and admired his filming position and quality audio and video. I was really amazed by how he talked to the Weather Channel, filmed a tornado, and drove in reverse at the same time. This is definitely not easy to do! Viewers may not realize how close David was to that tornado. Often times, the outer circulation of a tornado can't be seen (it's just wind). You may only notice those outer winds if they contain debris, or if they are causing damage. At 9:03 in this video you may have noticed that a utility pole snaps in two right in front of David's vehicle! (It does not get blown away because the wires are still attached and stopping this from happening) It takes a LOT of force to snap a pole (more than a tree of the same diameter). You may also notice some debris blowing from left to right. The outer circulation of this tornado was somewhere between David's vehicle and that pole, fewer than 200 feet! David definitely has got some cojones! Great job David... you are a truly a professional storm chaser.
Extreme Storm Chasing I couldn't have said it better myself! Excellent video David =)
Extreme Storm Chasing As David said on his stream " You know you were too close when you pass Sean Caseys TIV on the way out of the area. Thanks for the streams David
Thanks for sharing!
Its always amazes me how something so powerful and deadly can be so beautiful...Very very Beautiful wedge.
I guess the TIV finally got its intercept footage in 3D.
Gutsy chasing there David. Keep up the good work.
When at 8:50, u see the TIV going away from this tornado, u know u are close :) BTW good job, amazing video.
Just wow! I know you had a few OMG moments...
The video might be interesting if it didn't have the giant "Not for Broadcast" thing stamped across the front and center.
Moonawrathic If the media didn't feel the need to steal our stuff all the time it wouldn't be necessary.
***** You wouldn't feel honored to see your footage all of the news? I mean, what are you going to do with it? Let the world see the glory of a tornado.
My footage is all over the news all the time. This is my job. I get paid for when it is. I don't get paid when they steal it.
In fact, part of that footage was being aired live on The Weather Channel as it happened. Lots of people saw it then.
***** And how did that make you feel? Alive? Useful? Privileged? Or did you feel cheated? I mean really....
i am making a two parter about this
+Azurite Pheonix i meant about the lunar eclipse
I'm not an expert, but think you were way too close. Tornadoes can shift directions very quickly and spin-off vortices can happen. Just sayin'.
+TheRivrPrncess I've been doing this 33 years....just sayin'.
