New maranta. Have had varied success with this group of plants. First time with this rabbit foot variety! The leaves are more upward during the day than I expected, and I wonder if it is because it came from an indoor shop, but now is next to my window with plenty of indirect natural light. Will be watching it closely to see how it adjusts. Thank you!
Hi Jennifer, Thanks for sharing your gardening experience with Maranta. I haven't heard of a rabbit foot Maranta ( only know there is a Rabbit Foot Fern). The plant world is amazing, so always learning something new. Love Maranta and tge prayer plant family for their ability to fold the leaves up and down. Thanks for watching the content and your support. Happy Matanta Gardening ❤️
Ive learned that the conditioner for fish tanks also works if you use it in tap water. Its cheap and one bottle lasts a long time. My plants have been good since I started using it 🙂
Hi Bobbie, Thanks for sharing your tip and your gardening experience! Agreed, it's fantastic way to remove chemicals from tap water. cheap and easy solution to distilled or rain water. Thanks for commenting and watching the content! Happy Maranta Gardening ❤️
This is great advice here. Thanks for the info. I use tested well water that has no chlorine or fluoride or the heavy metals, but does however have trace amounts of lime. And so far I have had no issues watering my non maranta plants. But I have just added some maranta's to my care and have been watered with well water after I repotted them. Do you reckon that will be ok for them, or should I use distilled or rain water for them? Thanks.
Hi Allen , That is an interesting question and glad the info was helpful. I have never used well water. I did research that lime can cause nutrient deficiency in Maranta. I guess you can test try it on your least favourite maranta and see how it goes ? 🫢 Happy Maranta Gardening ❤️
@@PlantNationMinh Thanks for the info about lime. I will keep using it for the time being and only switch to distilled if I see any browning. Thanks again. 👍
it definitely depends on the kind of well water. i live in an area with hard water, and i notice it definitely causes some issues with my maranta, but it’s still better than my other options atm. I think i’ll try rain water once i figure out the best way to collect it where i am
@@ticcitoasty So far both my marants are doing amazing growing like crazy with no signs of hardwater leaf damage from my well water. But I guess time will tell and may take a wile to build up.
Hi Leah, Great question! It depends on the if the well water contains heavy metals and the level of it. If the well water is free from the heavy metals or has extremely low amounts of it then it should be fine. Thanks for watching and asking a question. Happy Maranta Gardening. ❤️
Thanks Ann! As the Maranta gets enough indirect light and it will enjoy the generally higher humidity which the shower room offers. Can always try and see how your plant goes. Happy Maranta Gardening ❤
Hi Christina, For myself l haven't found misting to help with the brown leaves. I found when l did it was more likely to cause fungal disease on the leaves. Great question, Happy Maranta Gardening ❤️
Hi, Great question! If the edges are brown, you can cut off the brown edges only and leave the rest to make the Maranta look prettier. If the whole leaf is brown then cut off the leaf completely. Happy Maranta Gardening ! ❤️
Hi Saima, I have keep mine like that to propagate new maranta plants. I find they only grow small leaves so prefer to transfer back into soil once enough roots have grown. Happy Maranta Gardening ❤️
