I had a bike for 4 years that was cheap and over 40-45lbs.... I now have a bike in the low 30s (when you add everything on etc).... My highest jumps came with the heavy bike. But now Im starting to get use to the drop out on this pro bike, I'm getting back to those heights.
36 year old dude here. I've always wanted to be able to cruise around and bunny hop over sewer caps and on to curbs but found it endlessly frustrating. Best tutorial on UA-cam - still took me a hot minute, but the tip to focus my balance on my back wheel was what made it *click*. Thanks a lot for this one.
If you don't have a BMX friend just set up your cell phone/camera/potato to record video, do a few practice attempts, then go retrieve it and re-watch the video. Found out I wasn't getting my front tire *nearly* as high as I thought I was.
You are my HERO !! I watched a lot of videos on how to Bunny Hop and I practice the whole week but no success. After I watched this video I make my first Bunny Hop in 15 min. Keep your wrist flat was the part I was missing. Thank you very much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats the way it worked for me, I saw a lot of How To videos and somehow it didnt clicked because there was a missing the step about combining the pull up from front and rear wheel, thanks, you made my day!
49 and just started riding again after a 13 year hiatus. Had box jumps and mini ramps in my yard in 2008... Ran slam bars with 6-7 " rise and had long rear end....loved mid school street...there are too many confusing geometries in todays bmx bikes for me to find something that is comfortable for all disciplines of riding. -dirt , street , park and a little flatland. I liked to ride everything back then with just one bike. Now its as if street bikes have short rear ends and steep head tubes but are horrible on dirt jumps... Bikes that are made for park riding have too long of rear ends and relaxed head tub angles making it difficult for the occasional flatland riding. Heh , for me It seems like picking out the perfect bike is just as difficult as relearning how to hop high again. Thanks for the helping hand in that aspect though.😁
Hey Brian, being a kid in the 70’s I think my first bmx was made from bronze! I just brought a 2024 mongoose and love it. That tutorial was great , thanks mate.
Man thanks for all the info, I was into box when I was 10-12 years old, then one day, I got robbed by three cowards with a gun.....fast forward to today, I got 11 years in the Army, turned a photographer and have two daughters, which my oldest is learning how to ride her bicycle...so dad (me) when I got me a redline 24 bmx race bike to ride with her and get back to my roots....BMX....I was trying bunny hopping today and after seeing your video I realized my mistakes (which you showed) so now, we’re heading to the park to bunny hop
Thanks for this. The differences in hops between 7:18 and 7:21 is where I'm at now. I finally started to semi consistently add the spring in last night because of that part of this video.
Probably one of the best explanations on a bunny hop. Getting back into BMX at 44 and forgot almost everything. Thank you. Btw, what cassette are you running?
You inspire me man. I never have BMX when i was a kid as my family can’t afford it. I’m now 34 and just bought my first BMX last Sunday. My friends all laughed at me saying I’m already hit mid life crisis. 😂

@Aird bmx bro i learned how to lift my front wheel then back wheel next, because of you! You were so generous and so detailed about your instructions. Unlike other selfish riders who dont reveal the secret. And the secret is "placing the real wheel under your butt" and putting body weight slightly backwarks, like a quick manual! I cant get my back up. Ive been trying for weeks and ive watched so many videos.I cant really do that whole scoop thing when I have one foot on the ground and one on the pedal I can scopp with each individual foot but when they are both on the bike rolling I cant suck up the bike but your explanation has been the best so far and I thought I was supposed have my weight forward and pull up and put my arms forward and jump and that would work but you are saying to straighten your arms to get th front up then scoop up and I watched a video saying you don't scoop its very conflicting. I do understand that you lean all the way back then bring your bars to your belly and then scopp up and flatten out and land.
I got my first real bmx not too long ago and I want to learn tricks and to start you need to bunny hop and your video is the only one that helped me progress so thanks.🎉
Hey dude, love the content as usual. I like your new windmuff or whatever those are called for your mic, much better recording than the old camcorder mic you used to roll with. I spent over an hour practicing yesterday and got way better at the hop, only thing I have to do is get that "push the bike out" part where you lift the back tire.. It's more like a manual-hop, in practicing I actually got WAAY better at manuals (can't really hold them, that'll be a different practice session). Thanks for the tips!
I practiced bunnyhops before a year for about a month and i managed to lift both wheels simultaneously a bit of the ground (15cm tops), i was also trying 360 bar spins and experienced a nasty fall where the bike took some serious damage (breaks shattered and the handlebar curved. I don't have the money to fix it but i hope I find some soon and treat my bike way better. I miss my baby
Hi I want u to make a video about that I can pull the bar and my paddle are flat I do good by pulling the bar but the real problem is that I am not getting how to hop the back side plz make a video it would be a great pleasure
I can’t lift my back tire. Every time I try to lift it my front tire just goes down. Yes I’m pointing my toes down. I lean forward after lifetime my front tire. Help me out.
Your explain of bunny hop is the best. Also this little bottle obstacle helps very much. greetings from germany :) by the way, this trick is not easy and need time.
Thanks and There is multiple ways! Either putting my feet down and sliding them to a stop, putting my foot on my back tire right next to the frame or the most common way for me is to slide my back tire out the side (almost like a little drift) and I can stop myself really well doing that
Pls notice me, everytime I try to get my back wheel up it either doesn’t happend or my feet go off my pedals and I just pull my bike up , I do land those tho, any tips?

i was struggling to get the rear wheel up for ages, and what a lot of these tutorials don’t tell you is that you need to make sure you’re grabbing your handlebars right, if you’re holding it kinda loose then it doesn’t go up as much, maybe it’s obvious to most people but that was my mistake going into it
