    Okay, activism student here. Washington just exhibited an excellent use of rhetoric. I couldn't detect pathos (since I'm not sure how much Texas cares about the character of a liberal state), but his economic argument combined logos (an appeal to the logic of abortions contributing to the job market) with ethos (an appeal to conservative ethics in regards to creating jobs and fostering economic growth). And "meet him where he is" is just another term for finding a commonplace: something important to your audience that you can use to link them to your argument. Given the fact that most political commentators (and in this case, DC and Cali) are far more confrontational (which, while cathartic, is not very effective), this is refreshing.

    This one continues to make me laugh and smile, then get really sad, despite having seen it a dozen times or more 😂❤😂❤😂 I always love the interaction between FL and LA! Best besties to ever bestie!
    I live in Texas. I’ve had at least 3 pregnancies, 2 of which ended in a miscarriage. There was once when I was younger where the ER said I *may* have had a miscarriage but by the time I got to the ER they couldn’t tell for sure. Then I had a “most likely a miscarriage,” followed a few years later by, “I’m so sorry, the pregnancy isn’t viable. The baby should have a heartbeat and doesn’t, and it’s not growing anymore. We need to do a D&C for your safety (sorry, Google it if you want details. Basically they had to go in and remove my dead baby. Well, technically he was never alive as his heart never started, but that’s not how it felt to the lady who wanted to be a mom more than anything in this universe!) in the next week.” Then I got pregnant again six months later and finally carried my Little to a safe delivery date. I almost killed myself trying to get pregnant and keep that child in the womb until they could safely be delivered because I love all children, wanted them more than anything, and valued having one so much I’m willing to risk my life to make it happen. *I am still Pro-Choice!!* Pregnancy is so hard. It’s so rough. *It can literally kill you!* That’s a normal pregnancy, not one with trauma associated like r@pe. No one should be forced to go through the physical and emotional trauma that is pregnancy if they’re not able to handle it!
    Also! If I had another miscarriage with these new laws after my pregnancy is announced not only do I have to go through the emotional trauma of a miscarriage, I could be investigated by the f**king police for murder. Wonderful idea, Texas.

    • @rhodawatkins4516

      That sounds intriguing. I don't know how a bar in MA can shut down a law forcing women to have babies in TX, but if it will help those women and young girls, go for it. Republicans really think outside the box pulling crazy shenanigans with the law to get their way. It's past time it got done back to them.

    • @Duskrequim
      @Duskrequim 3 роки тому +8

      @@rhodawatkins4516 Basically it was about the fact that Mass. At the time delegated Veto power for a liquor licence to a private group such as a church. So it was up to the church to grant a license, which they then used to enforce their own beliefs in determining who got what. In an 8-1 opinion by Chief Justice Warren Burger, the Supreme Court in 1982 held that such veto power could easily be invoked for religious, ideological, or other illicit reasons that could well be undetectable, making the scheme unconstitutional on its face. Basically meaning that the STATE CAN NOT DELEGATE POWER TO NON STATE OFFICIALS...Especcially when those powers can allow for a person to use their religous beliefs against others. As with the Massachusetts liquor law, the Texas abortion law delegates quintessentially governmental power to private parties.. Thus they are violating the Supreme Courts decision.

    My favorite set of uno rules
    1. Count points, you get a certain number of points for however many cards your opponents had when you went out. The number on the card indicates it’s worth, special cards are worth 10 and draw 4 is worth 20, first to 500 wins
    2. Stack draws. You can stack a draw card and add that amount to the person who can’t stack.
    3. Draw until you can play a card.
    4. 0 and 7. If you play a 0, everyone rotates hands in the way play is moving. If you play a 7, choose a hand to swap with.
    If you do it right you can uno all night.
