It’s said that it’s not an inflammatory arthritis but my pain goes to almost zero when I eat non inflammatory food but within a few hours of eating inflammatory foods, it’s a crazy difference in pain.
I have osteoarthritis in my hip and I am taking a prescribed NSAID =celecoxib. I just got my first injection from an orthopedic surgeon. Summarize the most helpful things u have learned so far. It's annoying to listen to 10 "experts" who give different diet and exercise advice.
Thank you for explaining osteoarthritis simply. I have osteoarthritis, I am trying to manage the pain and still carry on with my daily activities, it’s difficult, I need to get all the information about my condition. Unfortunately my G P. Doesn’t have the time to explain what it is. Thank you again for the information. G Lacey. South Wales
Chronic anxiety that’s not managed through the years has destroyed so many of my joints. I’m the one who blames chronic anxiety which caused me chronic insomnia and more. This destroyed the delicate joints of my thumbs, hips, shoulders, knees, neck, and low back. I saying all of this to inform that chronic anxiety and its destruction on joints should be treated and taken seriously, especially as young children grow up.
Yes. I lived it and I’m living now to help the educated in health know that chronic severe anxiety is destructive.!it will destroy a person’s physical body. My case is extreme, and I’m aware of this. However, it has nothing good to offer.
NSAIDs suppress chondrocytes. Why in the world are they prescribed for OA?! All the medical field seems to be able to offer is basically palliative care for your joints. As someone with knee arthritis for 30 years (I still have all my original parts with little progression), what I suggest is no nsaids, plenty of anti-inflammatory supplements (quercetin, bromelain, boswellia, serrapeptase, fish oil, vit D3 with K2, glucosamine, chondroiten, hydrolyzed collagen and vit C.) You absolutely must protect and stimulate chondrocytes while eliminating/neutralizing the inflammatory mediators perpetuating the disease.
Thank you for this. I just popped an ibuprofen 😢 but this is very helpful. I’ve been having knee pain for a few weeks and went to urgent care for an X-ray. I have mild osteoarthritis according to them. They told me I need to see an orthopedic doctor for MRIs. My hips, knees, ankles, even my toes hurt. I just want to help recover whatever I can in hopes of feeling better. Thank you. Hopefully soon, it won’t feel like I got hit by a truck.
Great first half of the video, explaing it all. I have no issues (yet) with knees and hips, only hands and feet. I was hoping for more natural remedies... Just hate all the chemicals you doctors subscribe! There are a lot of things to treat Osteoarthritis narural! But you have to find the right person to help you.
@@joseanker2059 resistance training. Exercise actually has good research backing its efficacy (Uthman 2013), contrary to the steroid injections shown in this video, which according to research show no benefit over placebo.
Brilliant! I finally understand joint spurs and cysts! I had an MRI w contrast. The findings revealed spurs and cysts at my shoulder joint. Two orthos recommended arthroscopic surgery that "may or may not find anything" and if it did, cleaning "may or may not help". This wasn't enough for me to consider surgery. Neither ortho could explain to me about the spurs and cysts. This video made it so clear and sounds so simple. Why don't doctors talk to patients as teachers (as in this video) rather than gods?
Thank you so much for your invaluable information I am a second year complementary therapy student and found this extremely helpful when doing cases studies.Look forward toseeing more of your videos
Hi all, my Xray reports are ok, and mri report DOES NOT mention the word CARTILAGE. It only mentions ACL sprain(no tear). I still have loud crepitus and so much pain in left knee. I don't know what more test is available for OA. I am just 61 kg at 6 ft height , male.
Thanks for This video because it will more useful to this it's matter also so depth in this video. We explain simple people can understand easily and once again thank you
Amazing!! Very helpful information. I just visited my orthopedist and was quite puzzled by all the terms he used. Now I have a much better idea :) 👍🏻👍🏻
I have just subscribed, thanks so much for your info style..... I came here to find out about osteoarthritis as I have recently been diagnosed osteo-penia.. as a patient I don't always understand Dr talk, I fully understand the pain and problems though.. thanks again Julie
The only problem is that most insurance wants drs to go through certain steps in order to show the need for steroid injections or other pain management. Without this work up the insurance may deny further treatment until the Dr has followed their instructions and then provide documentation to show that they did follow the insurance protocol. So, even though an xray may not be needed. In the long run, it's important to have those images in the event the joint deteriorates then the progression can be shown to a specialist or surgeon for further evaluation. This happened to me. And it was the documentation of the rate of deterioration that helped the specialist to help treat me. They still can't explain how or why my especially my spine is deteriorating so quickly 🤔

I'm 49 and have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis with sciatica. The flare ups now seem to be coming on frequently, destroying many aspects of my life. Is there anything I can do to lessen these flare ups? Many medications no longer seem to work unless I use cannabis.
Start using topical analgesics on the affected joints whilst also taking oral NSAIDs such as ibuprofen in their antiinflammatory dose (2400mg/d). If you've been using all these and still say you haven't found relief i would advise visiting your doctor and learning more about intra-articular steroid injections and hyaluronic acid injections. Also start consuming a diet that has less inflammation causing food and eat more healthy foods
I have osteoarthritis. But i also have fybromyalgia which prevents any type of treatment of my oa because it flared up my fybro. It's a no win situation.
My Ortho said I have arthritis, despite the fact that my 3 mri' s in 3 years all reported labrul tears and osteoarthritis. When I pointed this out,he stated osteoarthritus is a form of arthritis. He followed up by saying labrul tears do not cause joint instability
Appreciate the explanation and the illustrations! Would you say topical/oral analgesics are a good first step along with physiotherapy before trying out steroidal/Plasma-rich platelet injections?
I have tmj rt knees locks and buckle both knees inflammations lower back aches neck rt shoulders aches flat footed my wrists every joint it’s frustrating
That is a good point. There is some inflammation in the joint in osteoarthritis. The key is that the condition is not caused by the immune system and inflammation in the same way as rheumatoid arthritis. In OA, the inflammation is the result of the disease, not the disease being the result of inflammation. Hope that helps.

If only.. i take 600mg Etodolac once a day and its worked so far in reverseing the damage in my fingers, except the big fat middle one, Its going to hurt my tum, omeprazole affects your memory long term, won't have it, neither will my son with his cystic fibrosis, I'll chance an ulcer.

What an utter shame that steroid injections is mentioned when it only relieves pain but can cause the joint to be damaged even more. I am not a student but it is horrible what these students are being taught, without even any mention of Hyaluronic Acid or other management methods. Also I am not sure if this has good outcomes but what about inserting cartilage?
