You guys continue to impress with your dedication to your customer's project. That type-R was about as rough as they come, wrong parts supplied by customer, timelines ruined, etc., etc., etc., and yet you stuck through it, recorded it all and even posted it for us to see. I really hope this customer treated you well throughout the whole process because another tuner shop would have slapped it together or walked away after running into all that.
really depressing state of existence for that car. just bad enough to appear really bad, not bad enough for it not to be fixed really easily, and it just wasnt
To John and the team: its really good for the customers that you know your stuff and don't hack things together like other shops. You don't take short cuts, and you can custom fabricate things like exhausts and inter cooler pipes. The ability to fabricate sets your shop apart from shops that just install aftermarket kits with a ton of silicon joiners. Some of the work you do is the reason people will bring their cars from across the country to have you do the job. Keep up the great work!
After all the trouble, you still did an excellent job, the Mark of a true professional. I hope you charged the customer accordingly. Too bad it put you so far behind. You still produced excellent content, worked through the problems, explained everything in great detail, and gave good tips on repairs others have missed. All in all a great video, explaining the reason for the policy change, you didn't blame anyone. You just produced solid results.
Making the difference. The way you go about diagnosing and fixing problems like this Type R experienced makes me imagine: If you were a Doctor, you'd be my go to when my health is failing. This is one of your best (of many) educational car videos. Calling "Doctor John"!
Love how detailed you got on the transmission I learn a lot of looking at the details on the euro R Tran and for future if anybody is looking into swapping a euro R swap n Tran into any eg/dc/rsx/ep3 you need to order k swap mounts with tsx/accord trans and you should be good n you going need to swap the shifter selector to rsx-s or use a tsx shifter box
What a pain to deal with the engine supply issues and the fallout ! Thanks from OZ for another great vid guys. Like I said, wish you were in OZ and I would bring my cars to you straight away.
I have the same motor. For anyone reading this, thinking about buying this motor because they're more affordable than the type r's and have an rbc manifold with a factory dbw throttle body, and a 6 speed lsd.. DO IT. They're only still affordable because the engine selling marketplace hasn't adjusted pricing to the parts available aftermarket yet. For this engine, buy it with the trans, and cables with shifter box. You dont need the ecu or harness. Heres what you NEED. Hasport ekk4 mounts (for an ek with an eg/da subframe) for a tsx trans case. 02-04 rsx type s intermediate shaft. 02-04 rsx type s engine harness. 05 crv engine mount for the passenger side. Kpro v2/v3/v4. You'll need k tuned vss converter for the speedo to work, the cps sensor and vss sensor harness plug wires need modifications. Reverse lockout will only work if you buy a Prb ecu, and have a working vss signal going to the ecu. Thats about it. It's a 217hp k20 with a 6 speed lsd, for 2k less than the very similar k20a type r.

Thanks for the clutch pedal box issues followup, I had that busing get mangled on the last MC replacement and had to rig up a replacement bushing. It now has the "click" and whatever I used to make as a bushing must be worn out so thanks for pointing out that it can be simply bought and the P/N John, IDK why I didn't just search the parts illustration online haha. Also lots of issues were shown on that euro-R motor/trans getting it to play nice with all the US swap parts so thanks for that! I really enjoyed this one as I've been seriously considering a Kswap and from all the pitfalls I will be sure to follow what has already been done and documented well so as not to run into these types of issues.
Came up with a solution that will probably last the life of the car now while at work, brass "olive" compression fitting fit the MC rod to pedal pin OD fit perfect then just manipulated the outer diameter to press fit into the actual clutch pedal arm ID, clutch pedal is working like butter now with zero play! Surprised no-one offers an oilite busing solution for this as that P/N crossed a lot of cars.

Hybrid straight up told me they didn't have a tsx/accord style box. I bought this same motor, but I was lucky enough to get the oem cables & box with it. Harness/ecu is completely useless. The 02/04 rsx type s harness works, and the charge harness is nearly perfect, but the vss needs to be unloomed & rewrapped 3 inches longer, than de pinned & re pinned in the correct orientation for the rsx ecu, using the euro r harness plug.
