Nice one Mike. I used to think BB King solos were rather simple until one day I decided to actually learn one and found his scales were unusual and the subtly of his bends, trills and so on were very far from simple. Similarly, I thought Clapton to be fairly straightforward until I found myself jamming this tune at a rehearsal, and the notes weren't where I thought they might be. His note choices are what moves him away from being a "pentatonic box" player like so many. Your point about learning more from this than from just studying scales is spot on.
Hi Mike, I just started learning torn down. I was wondering what the stop chords are? I think the second one is c7, it's the first one I'm not sure of. I thought it was just up a semitone but your fingering looks like it isn't. Hope you can help thanks
No wonder, this IS a Freddie King song. In my opinion it makes more sense to listen to the original of Freddie than to the EC rip off (who has been listening to it himself), which is a cocktail with ripped BB King links as well.
"Squeeeeezing the juice out of it"! Superb! Thanks for the great lesson!
One of the best complete lessons thank you
Great lesson… another great version of this by the late Jeff Golub, well worth a check out
Great job and great tone. Straight forward teaching style too.. Love it.
Outstanding….I’ve been looking for this … so solid …love it such feel. Ty
Glad to get here in this channel @mike brookfield
This is great teaching, thanks Mike!
Mike, thanks for a great lesson. You are totally right, 5 hours of working on these licks is more valuable than 50 hours on scales.
Just great Mike, you nailed the notes and the feel. Glad I found you!
Thank you Mike, nice teaching, great playing.
You should do more tutorials on Eric Clapton's guitar from this album. "From The Cradle", is it? Great collection of classic electric blues.
Awesome work Mike! Thanks for sharing with all of us Clapton wanna-bees.
Beautiful !
Thanks Mike, nice lesson as usual. You're a great player and excellent instructor. Thanks.

That was really good. Love your channel!
I think I would credit Freddie King before Clapton but this is well done anyway. Thanks for this, Mike.
This is Clapton's version from the "From the Cradle" album.

Excellent stuff Mike. Thx for posting. Any chance for another great EC tune from the "From the Cradle" album? Perhaps "Reconsider baby"?
