I forgot to add in my final thoughts. I suspect there is an ingredient in this foundation that causes my face to produce more oil. I am not oily, I have a natural glow, and my acne is due to hormones vs oil production. But, there is something in the foundation that causes my skin to produce more oil which is why it wears so badly on me. Regardless, if it is claiming to be a Luminous Matte, it shouldn't wear like this over oil production throughout the day. It should keep the oils at bay🤷♀️ So, either it's not matte, and it's more luminous, or 2, my skin reacts to one of the ingredients. Either way, it's not my favorite, and my skin definitely doesn't like it😅
I was total opposite. I thought it’s too drying on my skin. And it definitely was more matte. As the day goes on it gets a little more glow but it feels dry on me. It’s ok. It’s something I probably want wear much and if I do I have to doctor it. I find it so interesting on how certain foundations work on different skins. Like the MBM was a no no no for me. It made my skin look horrible and so dry. I’ve come to realize that a lot of “serum” “hydrating” “Hyaluronic” make me look so dry and cakey. I don’t know why? If it’s because I’m so dry or what? I love this foundation, i have combo skin, oily T zone normal everywhere else, i use primer and powder, and it lasts all day on me. I live in the UK, so we don't really get a lot of humidity. It looks really good with the CT flawless filter 👌

I just watched your review and I would like to share some of my thoughts with you about this product, because I have reviewed this foundation for my channel, but I had different experience from yours! I pay attention to ingredients and it is alcohol and silica based foundation. For my mature skin such ingredients are extremely drying, they basically suck out all life from my face. In my personal opinion you became shiny, because your skin defends naturally against extreme dryness that might have been caused by this foundation. If level of your moisture in your skin is correct, nothing happens (thus Surreal Skin moisturising foundation by Mario does not trigger anything). In my personal opinion I would never recommend this product to dry and mature skin. From my personal experience after 5 hours of wear of this foundation I noticed so many fine lines and wrinkles, that I was terrified that they will remain. Hi Tara, I’m mature combo oily skin and this foundation does get shiny but when I set it with my powder (rice starch) it looks flawless and stays put all day with no touch ups. I use rice starch on almost all luminous foundations I have as it has the oil absorbing properties like talc, so not recommended for dry skin types as it can be quite drying
Hi Tara. Thank you for your reply. I have been in the beauty industry for 26 years and fortunate to have worked with prestige skincare ( Beauty Therapist). Your skin shows open pores which is a sign of oily skin. Acne is produced by overactive sebaceous glands. Regardless of lighting with all my experience I can see a oily skin. Xx
Yikes on this one!! I just recently tried to the Dior Forever Matte, because I love the Glow version and F&B so much, and I have no idea what I was thinking. I absolutely can’t do matte at my age. Thanks for taking one for the team!!! ❤

I have it. I LOVE how it looks for about 5 hours. Just love it. After 5 hours it goes slightly down the hill. So it does not lift on me. It is actually " sitting" on the skin well, but it does look shiny. It does dissapear a bit from my nose- but everything does on me🤣. My nose just hates foundations! 😂 But when i touch up with powder- it looks like I just applied it. It does not cake up or anything, it just looks good. However i can wear it max 10 hours- so works for a work day, but I could not wear it day to night. Not sure if I will repurchase this yet. I get better results of staying power with MUFE HD skin and it looks beautiful longer and it is cheaper! But I did not return the Guerlain one, I like it overall. Did not try the Makeup by Mario so I can not compare it to this one.
I love this foundation! I have normal skin and I don't live in a very humid climate. I do powder it down, as I do with every foundation. The only thing I don't love about it, is that I would have preferred it to be fragrance free. Otherwise this is a big love for me. It wears great all day. Interesting how different foundation can look and wear on different people.
Of course, I've gone and ordered it (in two shades) 🙄. I'm crossing my fingers and anything else I can cross - even my eyes - that this behaves itself on my dry skin. I'm hoping that the UK climate will work in my favour!! I know you have dry to dry/normal skin, and I've loved EVERYTHING you've recommended .... so I'm not confident that this one will work on me, but I'm definitely going to give it a go. Hi Tara. Thank you for the review. I was really surprised by your experience with this foundation. I ordered the foundation from Guerlain when it was released. I got the lightest shade. It was way too dark, so Input a sheer layer on and got it to look good. I typically have trouble with almost all foundations because they highlight my texture. I am very dry skin with texture that has texture. I have bad rosacea. This foundation made my rosacea look really good with no concealer. I could feel the foundation grabbing every bit of texture on my face. It really hurt. I found that the claims Guerlain made about the foundation were accurate for me. I had great difficulty getting it off my skin. I used 2 make up removers and 2 full washes to get it off. I tried it a second time with tons of moisturizer and a sample of the new Guerlain gold primer. My experience was better and my face was less irritated than the first time. I think O will try it again the the extra moisturizer, Guerlain primer and try to sheer it out with a sample the Guerlain face oil. I am crossing my fingers because it looks really nice on my skin overall. Thank you Tara!

Hi , Tara, must be something on the list of ingredients that doesn’t work for you. I wear it on call at the hospital under the mask because it stays on me for over 16 hours and doesn’t transfer to my mask! Doesn’t make me oily. I’m 46 with combo normal/dry skin
I ordered this one during the sale, but I haven’t gotten it yet. I have seen a lot of reviews on this so I’m still excited to try it. I use primer and powder so I hope I get different results. 🤞🏻
Hi Tara, I am surprised you dont like it. I am combo/oily and love it. With that said I use a tried and true primer that keeps me matte- which just so happens to be my Guerlain Meteorite primer. Good thorough review as always 👌

I returned my foundation for the same reason as you. A shiny mess after 3 hours despite powder and a NON-oily skin! Initial application super lovely, great coverage - agree on the amount of foundation used as well. I first thought your review was a bit exaggerated, but it really isn't. Also different SPFs, primers etc didn't help. So big disappointment but there will be others - until then I stick to my Koh Gen Do Aqua and Moisture foundations and some others.
I lightly powder mine with the Givenchy powder at the end of application spray with CT setting spray and it's perfection until I wash it off. I love it. I am so sorry it didn't work on you.

Really stays transfer proof and matte with me all day long despite my combo skin. Dont like how it sets though, it emphazises every wrinkle and pore. I will try with lots of moisturizer and a primer next time because I love the instant coverage and transfer proofness so much. I spray my Face with a hydrating essence every time after use because I find it too matte, which works well and does not harm the make up. after several hours it still Looks the same. It might be my sunscreen that makes it so lasting.
I'm from Brazil, living in Rio de Janeiro and I discovered that this foundation doesn't matchs with hyaluronic acid cream, serum or gel versions. I do need to use powder ( oily skin, acne prone, dark spots) and touch up throughout the day. Besides it is a beautiful product, what we called here in Brazil : a bride foundation. Works beautifully in my country region.
Thank you for your honost review. I got a sample of the Mario from Sephora and I bought the Hourglass that day and it sucks me dry manly around my nose. Your right about how we are so different. I got the Nars cause everyone loved it and its beautiful the first cpl of hours but 8 hrs later my makeup disapears. So im really looking for something for everyday which I work everyday and its hard to find something that will last a 10 hr shift. If anyone with dry skin has any rec I would appreciate it. I really am thinking of going and buying the Mario or the Lancome glow. Its so hard lol

Love your review on this foundation and like you it did not work for me and I actually just returned it lol. I didn’t get oily the total opposite, as the day wore on it just got really cakey and I could feel it on my face so badly and just wanted to get it off. I have normal to dry skin and this just did not work.
I have dry skin, but I do not like shiny shiny foundation. It almost looks like you’ve been thru a sweaty workout. I cannot stand when it rubs off either. I probably won’t pick it up now
So I appreciate why you didn’t wear powder but I wish you had only because In real life I would never not wear powder and now I don’t know how it wears lol.
I have fallen in love with this foundation...it does not make me shiny. I have slightly oily skin and find it works best with minimal skincare on...just a hydrating serum.
On no Tara everyone else I’ve watched loved this, so I picked it up but haven’t received it yet. I’ll return if it does that same for me. I hope not though.
I ran to buy this because I love Guerlain but 3C is the last cool shade and it’s sooo light. I have medium skin tone and 3C is super light. I also bought 4N to mix but it’s super orange and now I’m $120 in and trying to mix it to the right shade. Really disappointed that Guerlain didn’t give us more cool shades. A lot of brands leave us out or give us orange shades rather than pink. On the Sephora review subject, I honestly believe incentivized reviews should not count towards the star rating. They should ne available for people to post and share, but they are clearly bias and should never count towards the actual star rating. Always always always do what Tara says and don’t even look at how many stars it has until you read the non-incentivized reviews and verified purchases. Real purchases tend to have a much more honest review, whereas incentivized wear a product once and say it’s holy grail. It’s incredibly unfair.

Have u tried it with a setting powder? Bc i have dry skin & ni matter how mattifying a foundation is ,even i have2 set it with alittle powder or it wil turn greasy & eear off..altho i haven't tried this foundation myself i just assume u should probly set it with powder or at least a setting spray.
I tried it with Setting powder, and it held up better with it than without it. But, it was still quite greasy by the end of the day. I think my skin doesn't really like Foundation with essential oils in it. Seems like every foundation with those oils never work for me🤷♀️
This foundation on me was totally awful it looked oily and greasy in 2 hours max and I live in Dubai humid climate just did not look good at all tried different primers including tatcha and the glow recipe blur primer did not do the trick😢
I have very oily skin, even at 48- have my whole life.. that said.. this will be a hard pass for me lol- oh boy! I’d look like a disco 🕺 ball if I wore this lol.

I have hormonal acne. I am on medication to keep my hormonal acne at bay😁 Its not due to excessive oil production. I visit my Dermatologist several times a year for facial treatments, etc. She told me I'm on the dry normal side, and recommended for me to use emollient based skin care at night to keep the moisture in my skin. I actually have been struggling with eczema on my body for several months now. I live in Utah, and my skin has been drier this winter, we still have 5 feet of snow in my yard😫 But, I use emollient skin care to keep my skin hydrated through the night, if not, I wake up with my skin tight and dry. I don't have dry patches, but I would say I'm more normal. But, definitely not oily😁 This foundation just forces my skin to produce more oil. Not sure what ingredients causes that, and why it does that, but it does. I have been using Obagi Nuderm off and on for 10 years now, my skin has a natural glow due to that, but it's not oily. Often times with lights, it's can be deceiving whether it's a natural glow, or oily. But, in my case, it's a natural glow 😁 Hope that helps🙏 Thanks for watching

Looked dry/crumbly on my skin, wore off, but oily at end of day too🤷♀️ I'll try a diff. Moisturiser & see how goes, as it cost so much🤞

Really stays transfer proof and matte with me all day long despite my combo skin. Dont like how it sets though, it emphazises every wrinkle and pore. I will try with lots of moisturizer and a primer next time because I love the instant coverage and transfer proofness so much. I spray my Face with a hydrating essence every time after use because I find it too matte, which works well and does not harm the make up. after several hours it still Looks the same. It might be my sunscreen that makes it so lasting.

I'm from Brazil, living in Rio de Janeiro and I discovered that this foundation doesn't matchs with hyaluronic acid cream, serum or gel versions. I do need to use powder ( oily skin, acne prone, dark spots) and touch up throughout the day. Besides it is a beautiful product, what we called here in Brazil : a bride foundation. Works beautifully in my country region.

Thank you for your honost review. I got a sample of the Mario from Sephora and I bought the Hourglass that day and it sucks me dry manly around my nose. Your right about how we are so different. I got the Nars cause everyone loved it and its beautiful the first cpl of hours but 8 hrs later my makeup disapears. So im really looking for something for everyday which I work everyday and its hard to find something that will last a 10 hr shift. If anyone with dry skin has any rec I would appreciate it. I really am thinking of going and buying the Mario or the Lancome glow. Its so hard lol

Love your review on this foundation and like you it did not work for me and I actually just returned it lol. I didn’t get oily the total opposite, as the day wore on it just got really cakey and I could feel it on my face so badly and just wanted to get it off. I have normal to dry skin and this just did not work.
I have dry skin, but I do not like shiny shiny foundation. It almost looks like you’ve been thru a sweaty workout. I cannot stand when it rubs off either. I probably won’t pick it up now

So I appreciate why you didn’t wear powder but I wish you had only because In real life I would never not wear powder and now I don’t know how it wears lol.
I love this foundation except with powder! Powder broke it completely up and settled in lines.
I have fallen in love with this foundation...it does not make me shiny. I have slightly oily skin and find it works best with minimal skincare on...just a hydrating serum.
Did you happen to swatch 3.5n and 3.5w next to each other?
On no Tara everyone else I’ve watched loved this, so I picked it up but haven’t received it yet. I’ll return if it does that same for me. I hope not though.
I ran to buy this because I love Guerlain but 3C is the last cool shade and it’s sooo light. I have medium skin tone and 3C is super light. I also bought 4N to mix but it’s super orange and now I’m $120 in and trying to mix it to the right shade. Really disappointed that Guerlain didn’t give us more cool shades. A lot of brands leave us out or give us orange shades rather than pink.
On the Sephora review subject, I honestly believe incentivized reviews should not count towards the star rating. They should ne available for people to post and share, but they are clearly bias and should never count towards the actual star rating. Always always always do what Tara says and don’t even look at how many stars it has until you read the non-incentivized reviews and verified purchases. Real purchases tend to have a much more honest review, whereas incentivized wear a product once and say it’s holy grail. It’s incredibly unfair.

Have u tried it with a setting powder? Bc i have dry skin & ni matter how mattifying a foundation is ,even i have2 set it with alittle powder or it wil turn greasy & eear off..altho i haven't tried this foundation myself i just assume u should probly set it with powder or at least a setting spray.
I tried it with Setting powder, and it held up better with it than without it. But, it was still quite greasy by the end of the day. I think my skin doesn't really like Foundation with essential oils in it. Seems like every foundation with those oils never work for me🤷♀️
It has quite a few oils in the ingredients
This foundation on me was totally awful it looked oily and greasy in 2 hours max and I live in Dubai humid climate just did not look good at all tried different primers including tatcha and the glow recipe blur primer did not do the trick😢
I have very oily skin, even at 48- have my whole life.. that said.. this will be a hard pass for me lol- oh boy! I’d look like a disco 🕺 ball if I wore this lol.

My experience was completely the opposite. And I have the same skin type.
Was it too dry? Or did it work ok? I swear I think there is an ingredient in this foundation that makes my skin produce more oil because it is crazy how awful this wears on me and I don't have oily skin 🤷♀️ Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I'm so curious how this is working for everyone else😁❤️

Hi Tara... Your skin is oily. Misleading for viewers. You say your skin is dry / normal but acne prone.... That's has clear as mud!!!!.
I have hormonal acne. I am on medication to keep my hormonal acne at bay😁 Its not due to excessive oil production. I visit my Dermatologist several times a year for facial treatments, etc. She told me I'm on the dry normal side, and recommended for me to use emollient based skin care at night to keep the moisture in my skin. I actually have been struggling with eczema on my body for several months now. I live in Utah, and my skin has been drier this winter, we still have 5 feet of snow in my yard😫 But, I use emollient skin care to keep my skin hydrated through the night, if not, I wake up with my skin tight and dry. I don't have dry patches, but I would say I'm more normal. But, definitely not oily😁 This foundation just forces my skin to produce more oil. Not sure what ingredients causes that, and why it does that, but it does. I have been using Obagi Nuderm off and on for 10 years now, my skin has a natural glow due to that, but it's not oily. Often times with lights, it's can be deceiving whether it's a natural glow, or oily. But, in my case, it's a natural glow 😁 Hope that helps🙏 Thanks for watching
